I really was hoping Bern would take the Sheriff’s job and he would either retire and become her elder/sounding-board like his dad, or take the chief job with the police. She would then be Chee’s boss and spend the next season dealing with all that. I guess they wanted to wrap things up neatly in case there was no season 3.
