Hempsters: Plant the Seed (2010)

Wouldn’t it be funny if the reason why the government and their lackeys don’t want hemp grown is because it would mess with the good shit?.That is a solid reason right there in my mind!

Originally their was no difference in the plant strains but over the years the THC cultivars have gained in strength and conversely the marijuana tax act of the 1930’s stated that hemp could only be grown if no THC could be found in the plant, leading to the main reason for hemp being illegal now is that it provides cover for the stronger Marijuana cultivars. For a while the US gov’t actually encouraged farmers to grow hemp due to its many uses, but eventually this led to farmers who signed up for the tax stamp to be entrapped and arrested because the tax reform law ended up being more of a drain than a success and many gov’t officials wanted to use the plant as their stepping stone to success. Using Mexicans and people of color as a scare tactic to sway public opinion the laws quickly stopped any production of the plant, even though many gov’t reports contradicted the negative slander of opposing groups. The Mayor of New York Fiorello La Guardia actually was very outspoken on the benefits of hemp and marijuana, but public opinion and fear won out in the end. It really had nothing to do with the plant, and was all about gaining power. I don’t see that that will change, especially with large companies under the guise of medical innovation are buying up legitimate companies to consolidate their base before the laws are in place. Governor Cuomo received about 100,000 dollars just before he decided to flip his script to legalize.
