The New Mutants were my go-to comic, growing up. So, I was stoked the movie adaptation, was finally coming out. I was fine with it being a semi-origin/horror flic. Like in all adaptations, there are some discrepancies, especially if you are well versed in the comics. If they make a sequel— they need to bring in Warlock. He was definitely the baddest NM. The didn’t mention Illyana’s brother from the comics, at all (Colossus). The Lockheed hand puppet did come from the comics—that’s for sure. Lockheed is actually a Shadowcat/Kitty Pride ally. All and all— not a bad introduction, IMO. A sequel with a legit villain would cool. Maybe Magus, if they introduce Warlock and Cypher. 4/5
