This story is an extremely tragic example of occurrences, that may not be to this degree, that happen commonly to many broken families. Children are often used as pawns to hurt an ex-spouse or partner. If someone is using their own children as a weapon to hurt their ex-partner and claims it is for the love of the children, that is a complete contradiction. This father not only brutally terrorized his ex-wife, but also all three of his children & the first born child from a previous relationship , not to mention countless other lives! There needs to be more laws in place to protect, not just when a big crime has been committed, but red-flagged different types of harassment & abuse that commonly leads to serious outcomes. This mother’s life may have been prevented, although in this case I do feel authorities acted out beyond the call of duty & did everything they could to try to protect everyone. It is obvious that this so called “loving family” (the dad, sister, grandmother, & grandfather) forever changed these children’s lives to be an uphill battle to try & have any kind of normal life after this tremendous abuse. They were only out for themselves & there was not one bit of concern for the children’s well-being & there was no stopping their sick crusade until every member was locked up or deceased! The only good thing the kids could take out of their childhood is how much their mother loved them & fought for them, along with the love of the stepfather & sister, & the friends of the mother. I understand the children being hid by the state while the perpetrators were still roaming free. I just don’t understand why they cannot be re-united with the sister & the step-father now that the key players will never again walk free? This is a very sad story with a devastating ending involving one very loving family & one very entirely sick & toxic family. There should be, in my opinion, more focus placed on these types of occurrences no matter the severity! It is actually an all too common story when relationships fall apart & parents use their children as pawns to hurt the other spouse or partner.
