I am usually not the person to make the following comment, I think I have only said this about a crime show two or three times in the last five years: this show was boring and frustrating to me. The crime itself is fascinating and intriguing and sad. These are among the best actors (Søren Malling, Pilou Asbæk, Rolf Lassgård) and production values are excellent, I love moody contemplative Nordic crime TV and I watch everything that comes out in this genre. I appreciate that this was based on a true story and maybe the minimalist portrayal is a deliberate stylistic choice. Because it is a “true crime” story the point of the show is that real police work is dull and methodical but you stick with it even though nothing happens in real police work 90% of the time and then justice will be done. If that is the approach to me it would have been better as a documentary on a crime. I thought it would be a crime drama, there’s only about 90 minutes of dramatic material here. I stayed with it out hoping it would pick up pace (I couldn’t believe that something with such high production values and actors and such a fascinating crime would continue to be so slow and muted). From the comments on here I see that I’m in the minority, the people who already knew about this as a historical event, enjoyed it very much. 3/5
