This movie was excellent. This is where I just learned that Momoa can act. I used to think of him as a typical jock/tough guy typecast. I’m glad he’s getting to show off his acting chops with this movie and the See series while maintaining his badass card.

And Isabella Merced was fantastic as well. This movie did so much stuff right. It was suspenseful in all the right ways, emotional, the twist explained so much without being overbearingly obvious (those headscratcher moments before the reveal not her mental meltdown and borderline schizophrenia), and the approach was realistic, barring her fighting abilities. I loved the pacing, and the lead transitional change was emotional yet fluid and welcome.

You can truly sympathize and empathize with the characters and motives. I loved this. Pleasantly surprised. And the action was great, savage while avoiding an over-the-top tone. The hitman was great as well. He had some of the best lines in the movie in the one scene he got to actually speak. Glad I gave this a shot on a whim.
