Nice to see the film actually have something to do with the games, this was great.
Much happier with the casting on this as well, Mila was dry, boring, and not compelling as a character, not to mention looking and moving nothing like an elite operative would. Felt the same about her, as Tobey Maguire as Spiderman- horrible casting that ruined favorites of mine. Was a huge fan of the games (and comic, in the case of Spiderman). In contrast, these characters feel a lot more real and believable. Interesting interpretation of Leon, not what I was expecting, but capturing the game character’s naivete nonetheless. I think it works.
Good to see R.E. (and Spiderman, while we’re at it) finally redeeming these franchises, and making something halfway decent.
The cinematography on this is a lot better too, and uses actual color as opposed to that dreary monochromatic “Twilight” blue look. The zombies, police station, and mansion look awesome, and capture the atmosphere of the early games.
