I actually thought this series had promise until the fourth episode. Two things: The first is the premise of the story is too far fetched, even for a modern neo-noir. The fact that a criminal is somehow the “fixer” for a town who make their living off the market economy of crime, namely drugs (arrest, trial, incarceration, parole) is ludicrous. Second, you can’t make the first few episodes about hard boiled, no conscience crime and then turn around and start inserting social justice narratives suddenly. It’s hypocritical and lazy.
