Well, I liked it…

FUBAR (2023)

5 episodes in, and I have to say, so far this is actually pretty darn good. Really went into this not expecting this to be as good as it turned out to be, so very happily surprised. Everybody in this is doing a fine job making this a good show.

This turned out to be pretty decent, they seemed to do a lot with just 6 episodes.

I don’t if anyone is still watching but this is so tonally different that what we’re use to. It’s working for me. Rick Cosnett(Eddie Thawne) is totally hamming it up and I’m loving it. Looking forward to the series finale.

I’m watching, and totally agree

I haven’t watched LA for a while so not sure what you’re talking about, but could whatever happened be a lead in to NCIS Australia?

I have no idea, never watch it. Was a waste of time watching the Hawaii episode though, Sam was only in in for a moment or two, at the beginning, thought he played a big part from the way it was described, kept waiting for him to show back up, he never did. Really can’t stand that show for some reason….

Check out last night’s episode of Hawai’i Sam makes an significant appearance. It looks like something is going to continue. No pop ups or mentions on the flagship show though

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll go check it out later. Kind of gave up on that one, but will look at that one just on account of what you said. Too bad there is no clue of what might happen later though. Hoping that they actually do something with the ending for real, looks like they really are setting that up for a spin off like you said, could be something good.

The Blacklist (2013) S10 E13

I agree. After a couple of lackluster seasons it seems they have decided to go out on top. I noticed that Diego Klattenhoff is directing an episode next month.

On one hand, it’s about time, but the show did have a pretty good run. One the other hand, was a kind of crappy way to do it, really left it kind of a cliff hanger, and left you wanting more, would really have liked another season, with them tracking Hetty…but it is what it is, and I have seen far worse endings for shows that didn’t last this long.

The Blacklist (2013) S10 E13

Totally blows that this never got a second season. I myself thought this was a pretty good show. Rather looked forward to it for several reasons, but then that’s me. Guess the ratings were pretty low, which is a shame. Was set up nicely for another season, but not gonna happen. Such a shame…

So a steam turbine without an overflow valve. I guess the plague wiped out all the engineers and mechanics or anyone with a half a brain….

greyfur 4 points 1 year ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Yeah, I was wondering about that myself. I think the place was built pre- plague, or so I thought, and populated at the last minute, or maybe the survivors of it, kind of like a Cheyenne Mountain kind of thing, built for that kind of emergency. Or at least I was under that impression. If it were, it would have had some kind of release for the pressure. Even if it was after the fact, the people building that kind if thing, if they were good enough to build THAT, certainly they were smart enough to add an overflow for the pressure.

Guess like with a lot of shows, you simply have to let go of a lot of little things like that and just roll with it….like hand grenades that take out entire floors of buildings and such….

Silo (2023) S1 E2
Birdsforme 1 points 1 year ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Sounds about right. If you lived in one of those things, wouldn’t having someone test the air inside and out be a priority for you? But, since relics and past information is banned maybe they were there long enough to start thinking the world is flat.

greyfur 3 points 1 year ago. (Contains Spoilers)

There is someone there that knows what’s up, and wants to stay in control, wants to stay in power. If the people know it’s safe to go outside, then they will leave, and whomever is in that control will lose it. Right now, they have a firm grip through fear. Those ‘past relics’ have been banned for so long now that they don’t even remember what a hand help video recorder looks like, which is what they found, one of those items, anyway.

Notice how everyone was afraid of that one black guy and the two guys that were with him, when the other two guys were fighting over the sledgehammer? I’m wondering who that was, and why they were so afraid of him, even the deputy. Want to know who’s behind him also.

Silo (2023) S1 E2
Birdsforme 1 points 1 year ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Well, that ending on an exciting note. At first I thought that they pumped something into the suit when people went outside to kill them, but since the sheriff took off the head gear and still died, that took care of that theory. After that, I wondered why they would have a full space suit without oxygen attached. Still wondering about that one. I also wonder why all those years with that many people no scientist figured out a way to go outside and test the air for what is killing people. I guess that would be too straightforward.

greyfur 2 points 1 year ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

Thinking that whatever was in that suits tank already did the job by the time he got the head gear off, so by that time, he was already dead one way or the other. Someone or bodies wants to keep the people inside under their control.

Same reason that so one has tried to go outside and test the air. They are afraid to ask to, as soon as you want to go outside, you get your ask, but you see what happens when you do.
same suit, same result, and you can’t come back in. You just wind up dead…

Star Wars Legends: Legacy of the Force (2015)
greyfur 1 points 1 year ago.

I don’t normally get into shorts, much less fan films, but watched this for the heck of it, it’s 20 minutes, and it was actually pretty well done, and the acting was pretty good as well. Filming was crisp, sets were good, not sure how much $ they had to spend on this, but thinking they must have had either a little bit of backing or access to some old set material. Was worth the watch if you like Star Wars stuff.

Tulsa King (2022) S1 E9

My comment was made 4 months ago, greyfur. I realize that now.

Tulsa King (2022) S1 E9
Alien 3 points 1 year ago.

Oh, man that was fkd up. Was not expecting that. Lucky for us there’s another episode coming up. I think😬. And the series has been renewed for a second season.

greyfur 1 points 1 year ago.

So many things I wanna say about that, but gonna settle with SNAP! Don’t see any other episode, would be here by now, but wish there was another one. Glad it has been renewed, this deserves it, was really good for 30 minute shots, was really well done.

I know you have to suspend reality a bit, but just the same, when don’t you have to do that for about anything you watch? Hope we don’t have too long a wait for the next season, as I’m still going to have to live long enough for the whole season to play out to watch all of the episodes back to back in a couple days as I have time. None of this week to week stuff, just can’t do it with this one…

Tulsa King (2022) S1 E5
Piglet 1 points 1 year ago.

I watched the 1st episode and that was enough for me. Never been a Sly fan either, but I just couldn’t stomach this drama. My brother lives in Tulsa and I know Tulsa well and maybe that is the reason I can’t get into. Something like this happening in T-town is just not possible. Granted back in the early part of the 20th century Tulsa was an oil town and a lot of nefarious things happened. So, maybe in a way this could happen. Yet Tulsa does have some very dark history; The Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921 killed hundreds of residents, burned more than 1,250 homes and erased years of Black success. Of course I took Oklahoma history in junior high and there was no mention of this. I read about it I think 10 years ago. Now if a drama were to be made of that massacre, I’d watch it.

greyfur 1 points 1 year ago.

Yeah, I heard about that happening, I know there was some pretty dark stuff that went down there, and no doubt that this is not even remotely possible, but you have to take it as a work of fiction, as you would any other production that is made. Just like King making something here in a town in Maine where I am, the town might be a real town, and they might even use some of the real residents, as actors in it, and real places in the filming of it, but the rest is just a story.

If you can take it that way, then it’s a pretty good watch. I’ve never been there myself in my wanderings, so guess it’s easier for me, and I don’t know anybody there. That also helps I suppose.

Tulsa King (2022) S1 E5

This is enthralling in a weird sort of way. Never been a big ‘Sly’ fan, but he’s really nailing this part.

We even had a XXX drive-in within a mile of my house. There was a trailer park right behind it and we would sneak out to climb on top of an empty trailer and get an “education”. It wasn’t until I got older that I realized how strange it was to have such a thing in the bible belt and it was 20 years before the city was finally able to shut it down.

greyfur 1 points 1 year ago.

🤣OMG! I had no idea that such a thing even existed! Especially in the Bible belt! I bet a lot of people were really frustrated with that. I would have never suspected that such a thing even existed….

Peacemaker (2022)
augusts1 4 points 1 year ago*.

According to the internet a 2nd season for this show has been postponed according to James Gunn the director. The earliest could be 2024, the latest 2025. He is working on two other shows, Superman: Legacy & Waller starring Viola Davis reprising her role of Amanda Waller. Waller will actually continue where Peacemaker left off w/much of the cast of Peacemaker continuing their roles in Waller. So reading between the lines it seems what is being said is we’ll get a ‘2nd season’ kinda sorta of Peacemaker earlier just w/o Cena in the show Waller w/Viola as the main character. Very interesting. Here’s the link & I left a space after the https : https ://thedirect.com/article/peacemaker-season-2-release-date-james-gunn

Them! (1954)
grasshopper rex 1 points 1 year ago.

You’ve got me by a couple of months. I think we grew up in the golden age of cinema for young boys. All the monster movies with Lon Chaney, Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. I’ve wonderful memories of going to the drive-in to watch Godzilla movies, Planet of the Apes and Bruce Lee.

greyfur 2 points 1 year ago.

I grew up in Morris Plains, New Jersey, and we never had a Drive in close to us, but had some cousin’s in New Hampshire we used to visit from time to time, and they had one really close, and I would go with one that was about my age at the time, and we would sneak through a hole in the back fence and watch. There was always something good going.

I remember watching a lot of those movies on Saturday afternoons on Creature Features, or Chiller theater, and then there was in later years Up All Night I think it was with Elvira. those were good days. Had good acting as well. People knew how to really bring it without all of the special effects, and really hit you close to home.

grasshopper rex 1 points 1 year ago.

This was the 1st movie to really scare the hell out of me as a child. Having grown up with the threat of nuclear weapons combined with an encounter with some very large, angry red ants about a year previous to me seeing this made it very personal. It’s funny to revisit it now and know how terrified it made me.

greyfur 1 points 1 year ago.

You have a couple years on me, I suppose, but remember that one. I used to watch all of the old black and white horror and Science Fiction movies that came out when I was a kid, we didn’t have color yet.

Am at the point now when people ask on the phone for my birth date I start out with the first 2 parts then for the year I say ‘Cuban Missile Crisis’ just to see how many people actually get it.😂 There has only been one person so far since I started to do that that actually has got it, and it was in the same birth month as well. Person (as I recall) noticed that as well.

Only thing I think that really used to scare me for some reason was the Mummy movies, those really got to me for some reason, have no idea why. And anything with Spiders, with the exception of ‘Eight Legged Freaks’, that was a great movie, just funny. That never really bothered me, but always did have a thing about Spiders…

I did get tore up by red ants once, in Baton Rouge, didn’t pay attention to where I was sitting, and sat on a small ant hill in the grass, was some really small ones, but learned fast that they didn’t like that…😖

I’m surprised they got it all (mostly) cleaned up in one final ep. I really expected this to end in a cliffhanger and go multi-season.

Yeah, I really liked the last part, with Weirs Grandfather doing what he did with that earpiece. I’m thinking that’s what opened the door for the next season. And his Girlfriend still has that $29 mill like you said, so there’s that. What an ending though!!!

Well, I’ll be darned! Usually, in the morning, it’s become kind of a habit of mine to pop in here first thing with my first shot of coffee and see what’s up, what new movies have posted, and if anything has come up on my watch list. Something easy enough for what’s left of the mush in my skull to deal with until the coffee kicks in, and low and behold, I see this has links!

Had an air date of June 2nd, 2023, and we are not even there yet, and had this on my ‘Plan to watch list’, as the trailer looked pretty good, and I like my Science Fiction.

I honestly couldn’t be happier. Not sure when I’m going to be able to watch it, and have no idea how the linkers pulled it off, but not going to ask questions either. Don’t need to know how the magic worked, sometimes it’s best to just not ask questions, and just say ‘thank you’ and be happy..🥳

Silo (2023)

This is the kind of science fiction I love, all about the story. How Hugh Howey, the author, came to be a successful published writer is an interesting one. His Beacon 23 books are also being made into a series slated to be released sometime in 2023.

greyfur 4 points 1 year ago.

Well, saw your first comment, saw the trailer, shrugged (kinda painfully, still got some PT, but getting a lot better), and figured I have enough at the moment. Now, you had to go and say this, and it got me interested. Darn your leapin’ legs!😂

Going to have to watch this now, trailer did look pretty good, and while I do like a good ‘space opera’, like the old school kind they used to write back in the day, at least there was a good story with it. You had me with ‘story’. Gonna try this one. Also going to look up the Beacon 23 stuff when I get a chance, never heard of it, so if this turns out to be something I like, might watch that as well when it comes out.

I really miss good Science Fiction that has a good story with interesting people.

Grief, stop reminding me how old we are!😂 Yeah, it’s been a long time since then, and they came out with a reboot of the show a while back, have no idea how well it did, never bothered with it. Once around was enough for me.

Think you’re right about the liver, but pretty sure when he finally went he was a pretty ripe old age, without checking, I think he was into his 90’s. Pretty good run.

One of the best ideas writers ever came up with to boost a shows ratings ever. All kinds of merch came from that, everybody was buying shirts, and they ran episodes for almost the entire cast where pretty much everybody got a crack at shooting him.
