Boris Karloff is always a treat to watch, even though this tale has zero to do with the devil. The shady medium, played by Anne Revere, very nearly steals the show from Karloff in her scenes. Fun watch at just over an hour;-)
Since I am a Tea fanatic here is a Fun Fact: Rooibos, (pronounced roy-boss) meaning ‘red bush’; is a broom-like member of the plant family Fabaceae that grows in South Africa’s fynbos. The leaves are used to make a herbal tea that is called by the names: rooibos, bush tea, red tea, or redbush tea.
Very cool to know! I also love tea, always have. When I was young, my grammaw used to make the most delicious sassafras tea from the actual wood and bark (or root?) I haven’t had any since she passed decades ago. Now I just content myself with Earl Grey and some of the fruity green teas out now……
I’ve been looking forward to this, rip sweet Beth you are one tough cookie and fought one hell of a fight most people don’t last 3 month with what you were up against. Thanks uploaders
I’m going to watch, but yes, it will make me sad, too. I loved them and followed them since the beginning. So sorry she died young and her loved ones are adrift.
I’m assuming, based on the story, that Fox/DeCoteau have a sequel in the works…?
My father used to LOVE this wonderful “comeuppance” movie. It appeals to your sense of outrage at justice perverted by technicalities—-and how one group of people decide enough is enough. Excellently cast, with great characters you can root for and sympathize with, good LA locales, memorable music score. An all-around winner from the days when movies were really well-plotted and made you think long after viewing.
Another winner from one of my favorite historians, Lucy Worsley. This time, she and her carefully selected experts recreate the fabulous costumes, elaborate foods, and musical pieces the historical records indicate were part of the royal wedding of Victoria and Albert. Very informative and witty, as Worsely is known to be. There’s really a fun you-are-there feeling; highly recommended for history buffs.
I finally got around to the final season of this show, years after it ended. I really liked the idea of a show about Da Vinci’s time, his art and inventions, but I have to say there wasn’t nearly enough of that once they introduced (what I consider) the silly plot arc of the Labyrinth and Mithras cults. This ushered in way too much pseudo mysticism, fantasy, and fever dreaming to keep the story moving. The sets and costumes were excellent, as was the music, but the pace suffered greatly every time they veered off the (semi) historical plot points to take us on another this-might-or-might-not-have-happened flight of fancy. Season 3 was full of this. It made Leonardo look like a twitchy nutcase.
This week on “Fear the Yakking Dead”- even more nonsensical character decisions and even more effin’ yakking about it all. Soooo sappy.
He sure did! Lot of action, adventure, and heartache, which I think is what they might be getting at in his background, which made him a great butler and manservant/‘dad’ sort of for a young Bruce Wayne, to help him find his way early on, and be there for him in the early days, and then on there after.
Me being me (I’m 57) and having grown up with everything I could have placed my hands on as a kid that was Batman, and will grant you I missed some stuff, but still…watching this, with some retrospect, I think this is seriously brilliant! A lot of thought went into this, people went into the Batman mythos, and went into exactly WHO Alfred might have actually might have been, and how he got to be who he was.
Thinking they had a lot of ways they could have gone, but picked (so far) a really great way to go with this. Hope they keep going this way!
I agree. Because it’s so intelligently plotted, it shakes off the feel of some kiddie fodder (that I was afraid it might have been, until I actually saw it.) I’m eager to see where they’re taking us. Pennyworth is a fascinating, complex character—-and you never even think of, or wish for, Batman at all. That’s some great writing, in my book.
uh oh… now I did say, “not entirely horrible..” which means it can still be a little horrible. Just sayin :)
Can’t help but wonder if Bruce ever knew about some of this? Considering how he felt about certain things, kinda doubt Alfred told him about certain things he did in his past…He sure was a badass though!
Yeah, good question. Ol’ Alfred sure did lead a…colorful…young life!
Not entirely horrible for a low budget, thin plotted vague bloodbath. At least the so called “Vikings” were speaking Old Norse, or a close facsimile thereof. Good for a rainy bored afternoon. 4/10
Sounds like a bit of fun. If it’s terrible, I will have to come after you….;)
Great series, wonderful characters and stories. Sad to see it go…but all things pass…..
Love it! And I thought the model train last year was the cat’s meow—-but this…..!😜
Fun sci-fi oldie; keeps your attention throughout. Thanks for the upload of this hard-to-find flick.
Very best thing about this movie was the song “The Order of Death.” From Miami Vice, to Mr. Robot, to this, it has made each scene it was featured in that much more special.
Thanks for the upload, I had been wanting to catch this one. Eighties synth soundtrack is good; story is a very weak homage to the superb and much-loved classics “Scanners” and “Firestarter” to name a couple. This flick contains too much florid acting, and too much hollering and screaming and fixin’-to-get-ready-to-do-something, all of which only seems to serve to fill the runtime. I kept wishing for Darryl Revok to show up and show these wannabes how it’s done LOL
There may not be much hope that someone else may pick it up but there is still hope for the character, John Constantine did mention Swamp Thing in an episode of legends of tomorrow so with any luck he might show up there, after all Constantine was cancelled and then he ended up on legends.
That’s true. It could happen. Swamp Thing had so many plot threads, all of them deserving of time and development, but time just ran out. There was no way to do this justice in one short season. It would be great to see more of the story, particularly in light of that ep. 10 finale jaw-dropper.
As the title says, it did end reasonably well. Nice series finale for iZombie.
Yet another senseless, way-off-the-mark, subpar remake of an engrossing original movie based on a great book by the master. It’s SO hard to translate his work well onto the screen. I had to see it for myself, though. :-/ Oh well….
Oh no they did NOT go there. I’m speechless—-and I absolutely refuse to spoil it for others!!!!!!😲 Must watch!!!
Astounding show! They’ve got a real winner here. Can’t wait for it to return.
Karl Urban? Yep, I will give this a chance on the strength of that:-)
YES an excellent tale. I’ve mentioned it to many others over the years. A must-see.
Although this is a standalone story, the main character, with all her issues, turns up again in the latest installment of Eric Roberts’ “Stalked By My Doctor” series, released this year. Watch this one first, then watch “Stalked By My Doctor; A Sleepwalker’s Nightmare” (also here on Primewire). Goofy Lifetime fun:-)
Some grade-A scenery-chewing here by the always-fun Eric Roberts! :-) He has made this role into a 4-film franchise (with maybe more to come?) and all of them are full of schlocky Lifetime goodness!
Best part of this wacky movie is the catchy salsa-flavored outro over the closing credits.
A very loving, close-knit couple if ever there was one. RIP dear Beth; so sorry for poor Dog and the family in this terrible time. I’ve watched them over these many years, and loved the fact that, though they were rascals and rapscallions back in the day (and never pretended to be anything else), they tried hard to bring a little light and hope into the lives of those they hunted and brought to justice, often using themselves as proof that you can turn your life around and do better.
Watched the first episode, didn’t really like it,but gave it a chance, then 2 more into it, was interesting, but also was kinda boring the way they were doing it, dragging a bit, at least to me.Followed through to the end if for no other reason then I had all that time invested already, and wanted to see how it played out. Disappointed as hell, wished I never started.Seems like most Science Fiction these days is either really good, or just sucks. Sometimes you’re better off going with something more along the lines of a ‘B’ type thing, as you know what your getting into from the start, expectations can be lower, and you might wind up liking it anyway, just because!
That’s so true. This aspired to be so deep and compelling, but really ran off the rails when it went in a thousand different directions, detracting from the main arc (and main point) of the mission. All those episodes, only to be cancelled just as the show finally meandered toward its goal….
What bugged me most about this series was, when, after much hysteria, we finally got to the ‘Central Plot Point’ of the story at the very end of the season finale, it faded to black. And now the thing has been cancelled. :-/
Just a heads-up: Verystream link 21 is only 39 mins. long; other verystream links here are 56 mins.
What a beautiful costume and makeup effects Swamp Thing has! You could almost believe such a creature is walking around in the bayou, he’s so well done. Great effects and acting!
I don’t know HOW they got away with making this one!!!! Holy shyte…! That is just tooooo cold.
Never heard of this—and I used to follow pro-rasslin’ quite a lot. I might have to watch this lunacy just to say I did LOL. Hacksaw Jim? Rowdy Roddy?? Yeah, this oughta be ridiculous lol lol.
Wasn’t expecting ANY of the plot developments in this episode! Getting really good this season.
Nice to see Clayne Crawford again; have missed him since that flap that caused his exit from Lethal Weapon.
Not to make this news worse but it a DC streaming service show so the odds they would allow Netflix to Purchase the rites are next to 0. after their Marvel drama I doubt Netflix would even want to deal in this since Disney and Dc have similar plans for their Ip’s. What’s that saying “Fool me once……..”
But fear not, since show was doomed before its premiere. Differences between the original people behind it and Dc led to a shift from 13 episodes to 10. And that kind of thing is never good. I,m hoping their is a plan for a reboot so it can be brought into the shared universe Doom Patrol and Titans already inhabit.(I think the fact this takes place in a different universe, as the reason for their disagreements)
Interesting observations, and good points all. You’ve probably got their number there….
Cancelled already…? What? Maybe Netflix or someone will pick it up….:-(
Looks fascinating, and with a couple of big-name stars. Thanks, uploaders.
A good movie to watch, for sure. I couldn’t stop staring at Robert Wagner, because he looked so young. It’s the first time that I’ve seen so wet-behind-the-ear. It was interesting to me. Worth watching.
That’s the best version; there was a remake in later years but Wagner and Woodward’s version is the more compelling one IMO.
Just…strange, and very weird. Not nearly as coherent, chilling, or satisfying as I’d hoped it would be (or as “Get Out” actually was). But, watch and judge for yourself. Has a kind of teaser of a resolution.
If your a fan of Full Moon Entertainment, you won’t want to miss this supernatural horror show, complete with The Bayou’s steamy atmosphere and soft jazz soundtrack by Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan (with cameos by Bryan and Edgar Winter). 3/5 Robo-Stars.
Fun special effects, decent story and setting. I might stick with this awhile and see where it goes.
Formulaic, but not bad. I almost didn’t recognize Worthington, for some reason.
I have loved and admired this man forever. I only wish I had his outlook on life. Wonderful person!
