“Hi we’re your new neighbours. Oh I see you’re barbecuing. Can you feed my two teenage children and myself some of your barbecue because we’ve been moving all day.” Can you imagine being that pushy? Clearly not a Canadian, lol. What a shameless mooch.

That was quite different. A little Stepford-ish. But the costumes and settings were beautiful. And that Eiza González is absolutely gorgeous.

What a sick creep. He’s hideous inside and out; right down to his empty, black soul. Even his voice is a nasally, whiney, dweeb voice. So disgusting.

Oh my, those two new homeowners were so sweet and tried so hard for that stubborn hoarder. Such compassionate and patient young guys. A very emotional episode.

All She Ever Wanted (1996)

Should’ve taken the lithium. Could’ve had a healthy, full-term baby and an uneventful, and even happy pregnancy with about as much risk as taking regular Tylenol during gestation. I had to take gravol and Tylenol 3 for violent headaches from being hit by a drunk driver though my entire pregnancy and my son was full-term, huge, and completely unaffected. You can take more things than they admit when you’re pregnant, but only neurologists and other specialists seem to know what’s actually true. These people who think they know better than doctors, like this crackpot, endanger everyone, especially their babies.

I love Margot Robbie, and I like action movies, but I have debilitating insomnia, and I actually dozed off more than once during this. I rewound it, to keep trying to get the whole movie, because snoozing through parts could also ruin it, but nothing saved it. My goodness.

Hear Hear my good viewer, well said at the least. I believe there is a troll giving everything a one star without even viewing the video.

Ahh. That makes sense, I mean, the explanation, not the act. Thank you.

Joker (2019)
Ditzygypsy 0 points 4 years ago*.

It was ok. Phoenix is great as an evil kook, as he had already proven himself in Gladiator, but the movie was not something I’d bother rewatching, mostly because it’s just too depressing for my taste with nothing remotely redeeming in it whatsoever. He’s not even criminally insane and driven by anything. He’s just mentally ill and pathetic and pathetic isn’t interesting enough. Pretty decent copy for a LQ cam, though. Thank you, uploaders.

The Gentlemen (2020)

I didn’t realize that was Hugh Grant at first! He even changed the pitch and resonance of his voice. Not as good as Rock n Rolla, but still entertaining.

The ‘Spoiler’ thing is probably to keep the comment section a little tidier when discussions are going on. Especially when unrelated to the movie. You should copy and paste your review into a separate comment without the spoilers brackets.
As for everything else - couldn’t agree more. I spend a bit of time upvoting and star’ing things to even the odds. Screw ‘em.

Married at First Sight (2015)
8STORY8 4 points 5 years ago.

This is the Australian Version of Married at First Sight. I’ve now watched both this version and the American one, while the same premise, they are very different. I like this one for it to me is more fascinating, entertaining, and yet the American version has it’s pluses. The US experts are more involved providing more support toward the couples success. And it does not have the weekly couples gathering dinner parties and weekly decision whether to stay in the “experiment” in front of the experts and the rest of the couples. While that adds an interesting dynamic and some pressure to the situation, it also adds some unnecessary and unhelpful drama (In my opinion), which might be interesting to viewers, but personally I’d rather see them succeed. Either way, I find myself coming back each season to watch them both.

Ditzygypsy 2 points 5 years ago*.

I like this one but I prefer the American version as an actual experiment and not just a mere ratings grab. The fact that they’re not even married here is a big issue because it makes the commitment all that much less serious. Plus they don’t even consider logistics for the couples when matching them, and Australia is a big place with enormously diverse cultural and even weather considerations. That sets the couples up to fail. They are also in a very fake bubble and never have to experience real life with their fake spouse. It may as well be an unscripted soap opera. The US couples DO get together with each other in real-world type social gatherings frequently. They go to work, decide which home to live in, meet neighbors, attend family functions, and make joint financial decisions. This show is really a pathetic joke, but it is one of my guilty pleasures; however, like you, I am more interested in seeing the successes (though there are almost ZERO) than I am interested in the drama of the failures. I matched 4 couples over 30 years ago, and they are all still married and very happy. They were all my friends from different parts of my life. These “experts” are either absolute idiots or just plain horrible people. As for the contestants, it must be awful to be so desperate, broken, and lonely. I was married for 15 years and then I had a disastrous relationship with a malignant narcissist for 7 years on and off, and have been free for 9 years. I love being free, and I will never date or get involved with anyone again. I am too happy and content and I like myself far too much. Thinking another person is the answer to your lack of happiness is 100% wrong. You have to like being with just yourself and enjoy being on your own first. You have to like it so much that you think VERY VERY HARD before you sacrifice that for the irritation, er, I mean constant presence of another person in your life, heart, and bed!

Stumptown (2019)
Betamax78 -11 points 4 years ago.

Mindless drivel for slack-jawed drooling yokels obviously filmed in Vancouver with the cheap Canadian production vales and corny Canadian vibe . Why is all network TV still all garbage pandering to the lowest common denominator ? I guess only idiots still watch conventional TV ?

Ditzygypsy 2 points 4 years ago.

You might be surprised at all the things that have been, and are, filmed in BC. Not just Vancouver. From Mission Impossible to The Man in the High Castle, and many, many other movies and series both with big and small budgets and names. The recent “The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco” was filmed here entirely using BC talent except for the two main characters who were from the first series. This show is filmed partly here and partly in Oregon, where it is supposed to take place, and some additional shots are done in L.A. This might not be the best show ever made, but it’s hardly the worst.

The Last Czars (2019)
Ditzygypsy 2 points 4 years ago.

I have Netflix, so I watched it on there yesterday. This was a fantastic series. A beautifully-shot and well-acted historical drama with little slices of docu-history segments blended in. I almost had to do zero research to answer historical questions I had while watching it. Sometimes the movie portions in docu-dramas are too short, but this had nice, lengthy pieces of the story acted out with smaller spots of the experts spliced in. An excellent balance. They should all be done this way. I highly recommend this.

Hustlers (2019)
Ditzygypsy 2 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

It was better than I thought it would be. It was a story about friendship as well as larceny, but I’m also wondering if the club(s), who were in on the credit card upcharges, ever bore any criminal liability. It wasn’t cash. Anyhow, thank you, uploaders.

The Professor and the Madman (2019)
Ditzygypsy 2 points 4 years ago.

Excellent film. Such a beautiful movie in my favourite genre, Biography. Sean Penn is remarkable. The whole cast is fantastic, but he gives an especially amazing performance. Watching him -and Mel- in this, allows you to see the difference between good acting and great acting. Thank you so much, uploaders.

Judy Justice (2021) S1 E2
Ditzygypsy 2 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Well that surprised me. You can have a gun and use it for self defence but not a water bottle in the US? And if you have a heart condition, maybe you shouldn’t allow yourself to get so angry because you’re not getting your way that you induce a heart attack. Judge Judy excused the plaintiff from taking ANY accountability for her own reckless actions towards her own self. Pretty unfair.

October Sky (1999)
Ditzygypsy 2 points 4 years ago*.

I love biopics, and this one was about more than just what one young man dreamed of doing and did. It was about fathers and sons and mothers and their boys and the other relationships that affect us as we go through those awkward, and sometimes painful, teenage years. Nicely told. Thank you, uploaders.

Field of Dreams (1989)

An Honest Liar (2014)
Ditzygypsy 2 points 4 years ago.

Uri Geller. What a phoney. And Peter Popoff and those of his ilk are the worst kind of deceivers…preying on genuinely ill people for money. This was a very interesting doc on Randi. I didn’t know he was Canadian. Thank you, uploaders.

The Mummy (2017)
Ditzygypsy 2 points 4 years ago.

This might’ve been ok…if tiny Tommy Cruise the Scientology whackjob with the giant ego wasn’t in it. He’s awful. Russell Crowe is not as good as he can be, but he’s ok, and Annabelle Wallis is just annoying and in way too many things lately. She also needs to eat a good meal or something.

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019)
Ditzygypsy 2 points 4 years ago.

Whoa! I love action movies, and this had amazing action. It’s, of course, not realistic, but I don’t care when I’m seeing stunts and fights like I saw here. I’ve never seen any of the Fast and Furious films, so I was a bit worried I’d be missing some necessary continuity, but that wasn’t the case at all. I personally really enjoyed this. And the cameos/appearances by Ryan Reynolds, Kevin Hart, and Helen Mirren were great. I like Iris Elba, and he played a great bad guy, as he also did in The Losers. Thank you, uploaders!

The Dirty War on the National Health Service (2019)
Johnny2Stripes 4 points 4 years ago.

With a newly elected Conservative government, the UK will now privatize all health care. It’ll be sold off to Trump and the UK will regret it maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but very soon.

Ditzygypsy 1 points 4 years ago.

I thought Boris just announced that it is not for sale and it is a priority to maintain it. Of course, I don’t know if he’ll keep his promise, nor do I know much about him, really, but that is what he said after the election. I kind of don’t think they would ever sell it, especially to a losing proposition entity like the United States. They are the worst at managing anything to do with things that help their people meet and retain their rights to their basic needs being met, such as health care. But I can certainly understand the fear. I am Canadian too, and I am very grateful for the access to my human right to health care.

Ad Astra (2019)
Rob Apples 4 points 4 years ago.

Well. This is very 2001ey. The visuals are amazing but the pace just can’t seem to gain any locomotion. The main characters are horribly robotic with little if any emotion. That said, the story is intriguing and I found myself eager to find out what’s waiting at the end. If you arent of fan of 2001 then you probably won’t like this. But if you want to see a pretty good space flick and don’t mind a slow burn then give this a shot.

Ditzygypsy -1 points 4 years ago.

Thank you for warning me. I have insomnia, and 2001 is better than a sleeping pill.

I dont know if others felt this way,but I felt completely annoyed by this character i didnt like this movie at all.,I can see why others did but i couldnt even finish it she was so annoying.

Ditzygypsy 1 points 4 years ago.

You feel she didn’t do a good job of portraying Judy? I don’t understand what was annoying. I don’t care for Judy Garland, myself, because I’m not a fan of Broadway-style singing, but she is definitely a legend and immensely iconic, and I thought Zellweger really nailed Judy in just about every way possible.

90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days (2017) S4 E7
Ditzygypsy 1 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

This is odd. Ed never met Rosemarie’s family in this episode. Varya’s mom wasn’t in it at all either, but the other parts of the synopsis are correct. Just like a couple of episodes ago, it said that Stephanie risks her life to go to Australia. They never said anything about her condition nor did I see her talking to her parents. Are these only partial episodes? They also talk about stuff that we were never shown and act like we’re supposed to know wtf they’re talking about. Please explain if you know.

Orphan (2009)
Ditzygypsy 1 points 4 years ago.

I’m not really a horror genre movie person, but I like thrillers. I don’t think this is a horror movie. Horrors are mostly absurd; someone’s nightmarish ideas put into film. This, however, could, for the most part, actually happen. In fact, there is a real life case that is similar, and the adopted “girl” has even managed to fool Dr.Phil. There’s a lot of important information that can be extracted from dental work, pardon the pun. Thank you, uploaders.

I just happen to disagree. I have dealt with them personally and I have three friends who are on-air journalists, and I know they put their hearts and souls into their work and set the integrity bar very high for themselves and their work. Every profession has crappy employees working for it. Especially those employees who got their jobs by being elected into positions of power.

I don’t care for Jared Leto very much, but (and I have learned that this is an unpopular opinion) I thought he was the only one who was amazing. Everyone else, especially Pacino and Lady Gaga, much to my surprise, were just flat and lifeless. Biopics are my favourite genre, but this is definitely not one of my favourite movies or even biopics. Don’t understand what all the fuss was about now.

Elizabeth Harvest (2018)
Ditzygypsy 1 points 4 years ago.

What a stupid movie. Characters that are just crazy aren’t interesting enough to make me care about them. I like Ciarán Hinds. My son’s name is Ciarán. I had seen Persuasion when I was pregnant, and liked the name enough to run it by my husband who wanted to keep Irish names in the family (I am not Irish, but his family is). But this was just a crappy movie with one-dimensionally, purely nutso characters. And the clone girls were just shells of characters. Also, the premise and reasoning was dumb and convoluted. It was gross and stupid and awful. I have Netflix, but I wanted to warn people on here to not waste their time. Almost as awful as The Killing of a Sacred Deer.

Hoarders (2009) S9 E3
Ditzygypsy 1 points 4 years ago*.

So often, these hoarders act like such ungrateful, spoiled babies. I understand that it’s a serious mental disorder, but they put rotting crap before loved ones and rotting crap before their own health and safety and they never make a living off their rotting, disgusting crap, and instead they only lose incredible amounts of money and often lose their rotting, crapped-up homes and their loved ones because of their penchant for collecting disgusting crap. People pooping and peeing in cups, no running toilets, taps, tubs, or showers, fridges full of life-ending science experiments, and they always treat their dogs and cats like garbage. Oh, the smell must be exactly what Hell smells like. One thing about this show, and I know I am not alone in this: nothing motivates me to clean and scrub my home like a couple of episodes of Hoarders (or, as I prefer to call it, Human Pigs Who Collect Every Kind of Waste). 🤢🤮

Chimera Strain (2019)
Ditzygypsy 1 points 4 years ago*.

I found it very confusing to know when he was and was not hallucinating. Cusick’s acting was fine, but Kathleen Quinlan was just horrible and so was the British girl and the freakishly tall thing. I’d say pass. It was poorly edited and chaotic to follow and not nearly as interesting as the subject matter should’ve made it. Also, he used kind of a British accent, his Indian wife has an Indian accent, and so does his daughter/youngest child, but his son/eldest child spoke with a North American accent. What?

Bernie (2012)
Ditzygypsy 1 points 4 years ago.

This was actually really, really funny and also kind of sad, but the thing that I got the biggest kick out of was hearing Jack Black sing hymns and Inspirational songs I grew up singing in church. My high school band mate, Brian Doerksen is a famous Praise and Worship song writer, but I’ve just never really gotten that much out of that kind of song. I like the hymns, and hearing Black sing Just As I am or Standing on the Promises made the movie extra special. The commentaries from the townspeople was very well done. I hadn’t heard of this murder case before this. Thank you so much, uploaders.
