Really good

The hair is real. This is not your second-cousin’s Photoshop project.
I think I have finally figured out how I’m responding to this as sci fi and why it’s disappointing to those who want science-y wondrous future technology space opera. It has a very organic retro original Star Trek / Philip K Dick / 2001 / Heinlien vibe going on. It requires human beings to figure out what they are capable of doing with nothing but their own ingenuity and their personal social capital. 5/5 for making me actually think deep thoughts
Incredibly tight 100 minutes of non-stop action. Statham deserves to be the next Bond.
The science to melodrama ratio per hour is way way down. I loved the first 2 seasons, last one was okay, this one…it pains me greatly and I never thought I would ever say this about I show I like, too touchy feely.
Well, there isn’t any recording of Lincoln’s voice that I’m aware of, and I didn’t care for the person playing Lincoln’s. Kind of made him look and sound a bit simple minded. I know for realism, and to convey how slaves were talked to and treated was rather shocking to hear. I found myself gasping with disgust. Menzies is great in this series and a totally different character than the character he portrayed in Outlander. He seems to take on each character he has played with gusto. I must admit I’ve not read that much about the assassination of Lincoln and the days leading up to and the days after. I didn’t know he lingered on for hours after being shot. And of course there is the saying that I’ve heard for years but didn’t know why until about 30 years ago. “You’re name is mud” which refers to the Samuel Mudd, the doctor who set Booths broken leg, he was labeled as a traitor. So when someone calls you mud, it’s not a good thing. Roger Mudd (CBS reporter until his death in 2021 at the age of 93) was a collateral descendant of Samuel Mudd (meaning he descended from another branch within the same extensive family tree). I may continue on and give it a few more episodes.
Lincoln is almost always portrayed with a thin, reedy high pitched voice because there are written historical sources (books, newspapers, private letters) that describe it that way.
Reminds me of Fringe. I’ve been a Trekkie my entire life so I was at anti-matter, alternate universe and temporal anomalies within the first half hour of Episode 1
Solid watch. Pierce Brosnan is better the less prettier he gets. Sharon Gleiss is deliciously filthy in a second standard-deviation from Burn Notice kind of way. She had fun : )
Stunning remix of animation styles and modern narrative woven through Indian mythology. If I hadn’t noticed @Bsharp2C’s watch party I never would have found it - thank you!!
There may have been edits but the one I watched had no credits at the end. Maybe that explains it?
I assume you don’t mean the obvious edits where the casino commercials were added in the middle. That may be why the credits are chopped.
Am I the only person who can’t hear a d@mn thing their saying?? Turned up full blast, external speaker, even through headphones it sounds like they’re whispering. Just me?? From what I can understand it seems like it’ll be good, I’m 45 mins in and don’t hate it yet Lol
I have this problem with a lot of streaming sites. I use bluetooth earbuds with my laptop and I can get more volume that way.
This is Jason Segel’s show and he is really good. The Harrison Ford character doesn’t need Harrison Ford, that could have been any of a dozen actors of his age and stature.
I’ve completely revised my opinion on Harrison Ford here - this is his best work as an actor in his entire career. Period. I never thought he had such range.
Wondering how many “Constellation” watchers know about this? Was I the last to know?!
Incredible musical archives. Incredible also that this event was wiped off collective memory. Collective history.
Not quite 5 stars for me though, despite world-class music segments and crazy historical value. Because the document cannot seem to chose between being a pure film concert and a documentary.
For each major star’s music segment, we cut to either an interview of the same stars today or archives of the civil rights fights at the time. It’s great as a (very much needed) reminder. But as a storytelling device it is disjointed and repetitive. Also, gimme more of those music archives please.
I felt I never knew enough about the event itself. Over how many days did it take place? How many artists? How the heck did they manage that crazy budget? Why was there no second edition?
And pertaining to the film: where were the archives? How were they never shown? How did they end up surfacing? What did it take to make this film happen? This is all part of the remembrance process. Of the wiping-off process, too. I missed that very much.
Anyway. If you just came for the music archives, buckle up. Cos here lies some of the best soul music you’ll ever hear.
Looking forward to this, except for Owen Wilson being in it that is.
I thought he was kinda perfect for this role, didn’t annoy me at all.

-That dude on the “Planet on the rim of the galaxy” is classic TOS. The episode plotline comes out of nowhere, no continuity with rest of season, they don’t even bother to tie him to some kind of known life form or intelligence. Bam, a John Steele impersonator from mid 20th century Earth with a newspaper on an uninhabited planet at the rim of the galaxy, just because we can.
-Hell To The Yes Terran Empire 2.0.
-‘Woke Emperor’ is classic TOS. Cheesy and moralistic and as subtle as a 2x4. Love it. You can tell the cast had a blast doing this episode.
-Uninhabited “Planet on the rim of the galaxy” seems to primarily feature a rando US sand quarry in winter rimmed with typical mid-century state conservation program white pine and Colorado spruce tree plantings. It’s like they walked outside of a research park and said yep get’er done.
-Federation Admiral gains +2 charisma.
Second rewatch. Anson Mount and Common are magnetic. The actors may be less famous than the superstar cast of Deadwood but every bit as excellent. The story arc and writing for HOW is even better. If you want to get lost deep in a different world this is your binge. 5/5
IMDb score (Sep 8) is 8/10 not 5.1…this is critically acclaimed. Not sure what happened.

amazing movie. really loved it. had me on the edge and im supposed to sleep and wake up early but ill be ok. this movie was more important. 5/5 stars for sure
Channel 5 probably giving this an interesting angle, will ask for links
If there are no links - this is a YouTube series, all links are also up there.
Very highly rated on rogerebert dot com and rotten tomatoes, don’t let TV maze throw you off here.
What an episode! The CGI is used to spectacular effect!
Obviously I had to search elsewhere to watch episode 7, but I felt strangely compelled to return and comment on PW as it’s a hard habit to break - let’s hope against hope that this link situation isn’t irreversible.
@ThinMan there’s an excellent UK series along the same plot lines called In The Flesh, highly recommend. It’s a 5/5

hmmm, okay poetic….butterflies are beautiful indeed, but me and this thing with bugs in general freaks me out. No lie as soon as I saw, I screamed; closed my eyes real quick (LOL). Thanks for all the help
Actually, many butterflies prefer rotten fruit, carrion and dung to flower nectar. Sorry, I know you can’t unsee that now, but you asked. Ironically, those were the familiar Monarch butterflies famously known for wintering in Mexico in the thousands, and they are one of the few butterflies that do not eat those things.
WOW that was an episode! Been waiting to see something somewhere in the SWIP on what happened to that planet for a decade now.
Absolutely thrilling - suspense, action, plot twists and the best of the cast over the last 3 decades. This is now my favorite Star Trek!
Warm, funny, sad, awkward, too real, and hopeful. Very well written and acted. 10/10
That was a masterpiece! What an amazing show…
