Not a dry Eye In the House

20 minutes in I started crying. Because that’s 20 minutes I could have watched paint dry watched the neighbourhood cats walk by count city buses you know anything else that could even be slightly more of a better time than watching this drivel. I admit I didn’t get past the 1st 20 minutes but really did I want to ? NO. 20minutes and the show hadn’t grabbed me in any way. Like c’mon the opening scene a women speeding and hitting the statue ? 1st of all is she blind, texting or on her phone? How could she not see something that size. Also if anyone else noticed where was she speeding to? It was a 3 way intersection and directly ahead of her was an (albeit paved) lane way. Somebody should be fired over that faux pa. I was expecting a lot more from this cast but I guess there’s no getting over bad writing, directing or location scouts or editors that are inept. Will avoid this show and go back to anything else. Hey the 1st coat of paint is almost dry.

Midori (1992)
booger 1 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

This movie is grotesque. And what is truly grotesque is that after a little bit of research you find out that this story (and/or variations thereof) was/is? quite popular in Japanese street theater.
Imagine Robin Hood or punch and judy but instead of robbery and domestic violence it’s all the about other forms of human depravity like rape, physical and physiological abuse, hebephilia, pedophilia and other uncommon sexual fetishes and all of it played out on a street corner for anyone to see.
I can only think that the reason this became so popular was because the conditions were so horrid that people would watch this and say to themselves, it could be worse.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (2015) S2021 E25
nikkimckelvy 2 points 3 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

Has anyone ever considered the precedent (no pun intended) that the former president’s arguments are setting? Look at it like this, “After I embezzled the money, the company fired me, so you cannot give me any criminal consequences because I no longer work for the company.” You could even state, “After I killed the man, I no longer worked for his company, so I can’t have any legal repercussions because he was no longer my employer!” This is what criminals all over the world will be arguing, and there isn’t a judge in America who will be able to counteract it because the Senate trial of the former president is the highest court. Can the Supreme Court counteract if the senators decide to acquit?

The Rachel Maddow Show (2008) S2021 E12
nikkimckelvy 3 points 3 years ago.

With all due respect to Ms. Maddow’s bifurcated glasses, the a—hole is out of office. I feel like I have PTSD every time his name is mentioned. I am a common civilian who feels relieved at the change, and I’m an Independent. I have maintained for decades that we need more than two political parties, and we need more than one candidate representing each political party. That having been writ, I’m much more concerned with Biden’s polices than what I am with his proverbial draft picks. My advice, don’t even mention the T word. Don’t give him the honor or any more attention. Say something like, “The former president…” and let’s keep his trash down to less than half of the show. I want to move on.

footshot 1 points 3 years ago*.

i aggree , dont give him ANY attention , it totaly takes the wind away from the windbag and is better for your mindDont give him the pleasure of thought or a place in history

Battlefield Earth (2000)
Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago.

He wrote a Decology (ten books total) and i believe the overall series was called Mission Earth with each of the ten books having its own title..i read the series twice, it was the first Sci-fi series i ever read and i loved (and laughed) every minute of it. It was amazingly written and had so many colorful characters that could be easily related too..especially the “bad” guy who had the absolute WORST luck lol..most of the funniest moments in the series had to do with him and his misadventures trying to take down the “hero” so to speak..anyways, not sure if this is the series you are reffering too, but i highly suggest giving it a read if you ever get the chance.

footshot 1 points 4 years ago.

Thats theone , Highly reccomend it, theres humour hidden there in the book ,.. like the antihero Solt an griis [salt & grease] for instance, wouldnt translate to film , awesome story tho

Helstrom (2020) S1 E1
greyfur 2 points 3 years ago.

Just watched the first episode, and found myself rather liking this. Really don’t know anything about the Marvel history of Helstrom, never got into that one, might have to try and fond a little time and see if I can’t dig into this a bit. Was a good start, and I kind of like stuff like this if it’s done right, and this seems to be off to a good start at least.

Might be the people writing this keep it up for the whole first season. first episode gives me hope, there is a lot of promise here, or at least I think so anyway. Might be I change my mind after a few more episodes, has happened in the past, but after the first one, I’m really thinking this might be a good show. Fingers crossed.

Vera and Shetland lovers, there’s a new series, The Long Call, based on the Anne Cleeves novel of the same title. The 1st in a series of two books… and, hopefully, the ITV show, as well.
“For the first time in 20 years, Ann Cleeves —international bestselling and award-winning author of the Vera and Shetland series, both of which are hit TV shows— embarks on a gripping new series.” Good Reads

The Wheel of Time (2021)
jetero 7 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I have watched the 1st episode and frankly it’s hard to watch. Every actor feels like an error of casting, special effects look old, it’s full of teenager sentimental drama, costumes are not convincing and last but not least, I am not against diversity at all but when it feels so forced it’s very bad..
