They don’t make roasts like they used to.

Some hilarious moments, but none funnier than Brady white knighting for Kraft.
I believe getting fired from Late Night was the best thing happened to Conan. Everything he did since then is pure gold. He stopped inhibiting his comedic instincts, and unleashed all of his sincerely weird and original brand of comedy. And I love every second of it I hope he keeps going forever.
I agree with the Librarian. It’s bizarre that these people are attacking library books, when such young children have access to much worse on the internet via phones and tablets.
The morality police that get their knickers in a twist about profanity really crack me up. It is hard to believe that so many people still get offended by curse words. “Children might see that”. Obviously, they’ve never heard kids talking amongst themselves when they think no adults are listening. Future sailors, the lot of them.
It seems so! Some of these exploitation films were directed by women, such as Doris Wishman, who would insert social commentary, not unlike with blaxploitation. For a girl, the guys were nice, but quite a few of these depicted ramped-up empowered women, which was even nicer. Other than all that jive, it was just kooky dress-up pretend which was fun.
Bingo. Like Big Bad Mama, many of these films had strong women that dealt harshly with abusive men.
Drive-in diva cinema with Sondra Currie, big sis of Runaways singer Cherie Currie & her twin Marie. Also featuring Anneka Di Lorenzo who played Messalina twice (Messalina 1977 then Caligula 1979), Candy Stripe Nurse Chatterbox Candy Rialson & Mary Stoddard.
Soft core sexploitation films of the early 70s made it a glorious time to be a pre-teen boy with a drive-in in our neighborhood. The Lone Star, or Porn Star as it was known locally, also showed XXX films all the way up to 1987, a remarkable feat given that we were in the bible belt.
This is the worst. Ignorance. Vanity. Unfunny.
To say that it’s unfunny is a subjective opinion that, while I disagree, at least could be a valid criticism from your perspective, but ignorant and vain? Nah. Every episode is well-thought-out and meticulously researched. The vain part is just laughable. He is VERY British, which is to say, self-deprecating and humble almost to a fault.
I remember reading Fahrenheit 451 when I was a teen and thinking it was farfetched and unlikely to ever come to that. Now, I’m not so sure.
Even though it was inevitable. I am in utter disbelief that this could happen in a first world country. I’ve watched many riots go down during my near 6 decades of life but I never thought it could happen IN the white house. It was embarrassing and humiliating to watch and I’m not even from the states. For all the U.S citizens, I hate that you all had to endure that.
As you can see from the rating here and on IMDb, far too many learned nothing from this embarrassing chapter in American history. They still believe in the big lie. They think liberals are hellbent on destroying the country that they too have to live in. That any number of fearmongering lies told them are true, despite facts or statistics given that disprove those manipulating lies. Hell, just a bit of common sense would tell them that much of the ludicrous bs they are fed is just laughable. How anyone could watch this raw footage and not be affected and concerned for our future is disturbing, but most of the actual participants still stand by their actions.
After almost 5 years of fearmongering and stoking division, how could they be so utterly unprepared for this possibility?
Written and directed by and starring Viggo Mortensen. I’ll bite.
you can find it on youtube in 2 parts, but the quality isn’t great
I have a whole new respect for the swimming abilities of kangaroos.
I’m curious enough to keep watching. Moss is wonderful, as always.
Stephen King is a difficult adaptation. He fleshes out each and every character in a way that few directors/actors/screen writers are capable of. I hope this is more like his more recent adaptations in the last couple of years, whilst they deviated, they still held the mesmerising essence that only SK can give a story in its complexity.
I think the problem lies in the fact that while there is some overlap in the different mediums, print and film, for the most part they are very different audiences. Hollywood is much more profit driven, and it’s difficult to keep their users as interested while building characters and the story.
I’m a big King fan, and I could ramble on indefinitely about my thoughts and observations of the man and his works, but I’ll spare everyone that. lol
Thank you for the knowledge GH
YW. Personally, I’m kind of excited for this one. The original was ok, for what it was, but in no way captured the feel of the story. The Bachman Books were dark and nihilistic and I’m hoping they can recreate that with this adaptation.
It was officially confirmed at Cinemacon 2024 that this remake is going forward.
As much a look back at the 70s as it is a horror movie. There are nods to Tonight with Don Lane, paranormal performers like Uri Geller and Peter Popoff along with their counterpart James Randi. The horror aspect itself was a nod to an increasing fear of the demonic that eventually led to the satanic panic of the 80s and 90s. Movies like Rosemary’s Baby, The Exorcist, and The Omen as well as the Manson murders fed into those fears. I enjoyed it, and it’s a good reminder that too much of what some people fear or believe isn’t real or rational.
A great watch. It seemed to lose focus towards the end, but it made me think a lot about my own perceptions. It’s heartbreaking that abuse and exploitation, such as the instances mentioned here, still happen.
I wonder how many know that Hop Sing (Victor Sen Yung) played Number 2 son in the Sidney Toler Charlie Chan movies? Then again, I wonder how many today have even heard of Charlie Chan. Another to-be famous star Keye Luke played Number 1 son, in the Warner Oland Chan movies. Scads of other stars to-be made appearances in these movies. As a kid, I watched all these on the Saturday matinee’s on TV…after the monster movie matinee’s that is. I have every one of these and while we were building an add-on to my house, we listened to them. The young guys kept stopping to watch, lol. Had to stop them during work, but they would stay after hours to watch more. They got a kick out of them.
Not stupid at all, Merri. I’ve had my share of groupie fantasies. ;)
Thanks for sharing the ebook offer. That’s a very cool deal.
Idris Elba has done a couple of interviews recently where he was asked about the possibility of another Luther movie. “The chances are good. The chances are very good actually. I don’t want to make any exclusive announcements, but it’s looking good for old Johnny Boy,” he stated.
Recently discovered this show and I love it. Hilarious and empowering, it manages to poke fun of stereotypes without offending. I wonder if the creators were influenced by the Indonesian female metal trio Voice of Baceprot? Eagerly awaiting season 2 with cameos from activist Malala Yousafzai and comedian Meera Syal.
yes lets get teens pregnant and them give tem a TV show , what idiot is promoting this nonsense
but one of the many downsides of capitalism. these shows have been around for 15 years now, so they obviously make money.
Very fun show LOL But the future is NOT lookin’ good, y’all! We have Cyberdyne, SkyNet, Vought Industries, ConSec, LutherCorp, Banodyne - and now Vault-Tec on the horizon. And those are just some off the top of my head before I’ve had my tea! 😱
We all better bend over and kiss…well, y’all know the rest…
I think we’ll be ok. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_dates_predicted_for_apocalyptic_events :)
Maybe the ‘Only Murders in the Building’ people got the idea from the
‘The Thursday Murder Club book’. :)
I’m not offended. The writers of OMintB could well have been inspired by the book. By lack of originality, I only meant that there are some undeniable similarities in the stories and the timing of this coming to the silver screen. TBH, there is very little that is completely original. Nothing new under the sun comes from the bible, and that is most likely a wisdom lifted from somewhere else. Researcher was just messing with me. No offense taken there, either. :)
The Thursday Murder Club movie is based on The Thursday Murder Club novel by Pointless and House of Games presenter Richard Osman, and is the first installment in his “Thursday Murder Club” series. It was published on 3 September 2020 which is before Only Murders in the Building aired.
but would it have gotten a screen adaptation if not for the popularity of OMintB? debatable.
It was an outstanding experience. I’m in Europe, so not at all Xenophobic. I adore other cultures and such… just a background so you get my drift. This film was full to the waterline with action, dramatic friction and mayhem. Watch it, my friend viewer. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family did! ( ✪ワ✪)ノʸᵉᵃʰᵎ
Not casting any aspersions on you, but merely being European doesn’t exclude one from being a xenophobe. lol
The Thursday Murder Club follows a group of pensioners living in a luxury retirement community who set out to solve the murder of a property developer. Author Richard Osman revealed that Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, and Ben Kingsley will play three of the four sleuths. No release date yet.
So it’s kind of a rip-off of Only Murders in the Building. Let’s hope the casting and writing can overcome the lack of originality.
Oh man. I actually thought that’s future him! Which was sad and happy at the same time…
Thanks for the thorough explanation! Really deep. (you can clearly see I can’t draw these images by myself, so thank you really, much appreciated)
A dead giveaway was you saw him holding the cross Mariko had given him in the scenes of him old, but that cross was dropped into the ocean when they went out to scatter the ashes of her family.
I don’t really understand the finale. So did “Anjin” go back to england? The show says he did. He even “fought” as a Samurai as per his grand-children. But Toranaga says he believes he will never go back to England. I just don’t get it haha.. Excuse my ignorance..
Those were “visions” of how he thought his life would be if he returned to England. He does not. His whole life up to that point had been about his own ambitions and desires, but with Mariko’s sacrifice he is changed, which you see when he offers up his own life to end the suffering of the villagers. With this gesture, we see that he has left his old self behind and has come to finally have some understanding of the Japanese and their customs. We see him surrender his old life and to honor his love for Mariko and her sacrifice, he chooses to serve Toranaga. At least, that’s what I got out of it.
What happened to Season’s 8, 9 & 10?
It’s all kind of confusing. There were originally 4 seasons (72 episodes). Fox aired a lot of it out of order and stretched it to the 5 seasons you see listed here. After that, there were 4 straight to DVD movies made that were later split up into episodes and aired on Comedy Central as season 5, or 6 depending on how you count it. Then there were the two 26 episodes seasons on Comedy Central that were split up and aired over 4 years.
The gist of it is that there is nothing missing here except for the movies, which are listed as the specials at the end of season 5, and you can find links for those on their individual movie pages.
Megalopolis is a Roman Epic fable set in an imagined Modern America. The City of New Rome must change, causing conflict between Cesar Catilina, a genius artist who seeks to leap into a utopian, idealistic future, and his opposition, Mayor Franklyn Cicero, who remains committed to a regressive status quo, perpetuating greed, special interests, and partisan warfare. Torn between them is socialite Julia Cicero, the mayor’s daughter, whose love for Cesar has divided her loyalties, forcing her to discover what she truly believes humanity deserves.
Expected September 2024. Trailer
