EchotaChick 4 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Minute 22:00 to 24:00 is one of, if not THE, most moving 2 minutes of television I’ve ever seen. Never would’ve guessed Chris Rock would play a role in that, so kudos to him. Not my favorite storyline in the Fargo series, but the actors are great - making for several memorable moments. OH, the very last scene is awesome too! Fargo fans will make the connection when they see a surprise!! special guest star.

Murder on Middle Beach (2020) S1 E3
EchotaChick 2 points 3 years ago.

Wow! This is one of the best crime documentaries I’ve ever seen! I so badly want to talk to someone about Aunt Conway’s body language versus Sister Allie’s. Conway looks open and relaxed while interviewed and expressing her opinion. Allie, however, appears nervous, closed off (arms AND legs crossed at the pier), and constantly shakes her head back and forth when answering the toughest questions.

Chrisley Knows Best (2014)
EchotaChick 1 points 3 years ago.

“Don’t know why I love [it], but I do!” Granny Faye MAKES this show. Couldn’t watch it without her, her sister, and grandson Chase. Todd’s ok funny sometimes. But CKB is so obviously scripted and often terribly acted. Still, it’s a Can’t Miss for me. So is Southern Charm, which is ridiculous but probably more real than CKB, plus the acting is better (those “grown” kids have most likely acted all their lives)! Being a Southerner has undoubtedly kept me watching even after dropping The Housewives and their ilk. And with a very few exceptions (Fargo, Undoing, Mandalorian, stuff like 60 Minutes, and “Comic News,”) TV right now is a wasteland!! Am I missing anything great??

Enola Holmes (2020)
PacificLilly 3 points 3 years ago*.

Thanks for the sneak peek Robo. I had no idea this movie existed until now. I’m really looking forward to seeing this! Thanks for always helping the rest of us here find cool movies and shows to watch!

And major kudos, thanks, hugs and gratitude to all of our Primewire link posters, uploaders and the like!!! You all are always so on top of things, put in so much time and effort so the rest of us can watch any of our shows and movies as soon as they are available! But I was flabbergasted, super surpised yet again!!! To be able to watch this the day before (or the day of depending on timezones) when it is released is fan-flipping-tastic!!! It’s almost like magic!!!! Thank you all, sincerely, so very much for all of your hard work, time and efforts!

Honestly, Primewire and all that the volunteers do/contribue for us here is, to put it simply… Is a blessing to me. I am disabled and often can’t go or do many of the things I want to. (At least not now/yet. I am still hopeful to get better/heal, eventually) So, I 1,000% rely on coming here to chitchat/discuss, and watch, all kinds of shows/movies! Being able to watch these shows/movies and have fun cinema discussions (and keeping in touch with my PW family about life and etc.) are often times literally my only way or means to escape my complicated medical issues, pain, stress/frustration, boredom (even more so now being quarantined bc of Covid-19)! Getting to watch shows/movies let’s my imagination run free and keep my mind engaged and learn new things! I honest-to-goodness don’t know what I would do without this site and all of you wonderful people who keep it running! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! 🙏🙇💌😻🥰♥️

A Wilderness of Error (2020)
Saucer-People 5 points 3 years ago.

The Jeffrey MacDonald case has fascinated me for decades because it goes to the heart of the very idea that ultimate truth and certainty can be sculpted out of evidence and testimony.
Out of all the directors who could have focused their lens on the case, Errol Morris is the natural choice and even if he had not already taken a deep dive into the case in bestseller book form, he would still be the ideal filmmaker for the task as he seems to implicitly grasp the core issues of memory, narrative, testimony, evidential findings and human fallibility that lie at the heart of the justice system.

If you can resist a rush to judgement and live with uncertainty you will find this compulsory viewing, just like his previous opus Wormwood, Errol is on top form.

PS I would really recommend the companion podcast called Morally Indefensible which takes an in-depth look into the Fatal Vision book on the case written by Joe McGinniss which also forms the basis of the TV series of the same name.

EchotaChick -1 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Yes!! You can be innocent as the millinea is long but if someone wants to frame you, it’s scarily easy. The older I get, the more afraid - but for my kids now. IDK if the outcome was right but gut agrees with Errol here. But this is ‘Merica, so sue me. ;D [ @grasshopper rex, now I getz my own haterz?!:]

Interesting case & litigated extensively. Probably best known from the TV version Fatal Vision with Gary Cole & the great Karl Malden. McDonalds lawyer (ep1 @ 32:17 ) scores a 9.5 on the “Better call Saul” scale.

Cute face, bad-hair-day-every! Sorry, I’m just still confused about his wasting most of defense closing arguments’ time for NOTHING. He appears too smart for that. Not b/c of one opinion or another, it was just bad form; I might’ve had to meet him at the flag pole after school. Maybe he determined McDonald WAS guilty and threw it. Weirder things have happened. Maybe Collette’s dad threatened him. Is he around to answer? Idt I gave anything important away, but if it must be marked, can I just edit? Thx for assist, dear mods!

Racism and homophobia are everywhere. We have reason to be positive, though. The generations coming up into adulthood seem to be overwhelmingly open and accepting of differences. They think that we older people (as a whole) are ridiculous! Then again, many of us can be proud of rearing these less biased humans. *Btw, worst thing to be here: Democrat. =\

Trump: An American Dream (2017)
grasshopper rex 11 points 3 years ago.

We must have very different notions of what it is to be a “lefty, socialist”. The US is far from “down” and is very deserving of the scorn and hatred that much of the world feels towards us. We have sown discord and created instabilty around the globe for the purpose of ever-increasing profits for our corporations. We are the single greatest threat to world peace.

Not only are we horrible citizens of the world, we have done a grave disservice to the majority of our own citizens. Our capitalist systems are deeply corrupted and rooted in racism. It’s been that way since the beginning. All the flowery promises are but lies, polished to a fine sheen that blinds most to the ugly truth that hides beneath the thin veneer of freedom, equality and justice for all.

Don’t get me wrong. I think the majority of our citizens are fine, decent people. It is our government that I take issue with, but we are complicit in that far too many are either blind to or choose to be willfully ignorant of the evil our government does.

“You’re not supposed to be so blind with patriotism that you can’t face reality. Wrong is wrong no matter who says it or who does it.”
Malcom X

“Patriotism demands the abilty the feel shame as much as to feel pride.”
Anne-Marie Slaughter

EchotaChick 0 points 3 years ago.

I agree, mostly Hopper. But fine, decent people have learned that they can try to vote, but elections get stolen. Hard to believe we’re not talking about a 3rd world country, but that is what we’re heading toward and FAST. So, what’s the solution? I and mine are not complicit. And I say, “tired of being crapped on” b/c we’re mostly good; just don’t know what to do. Also, slamming each other is unproductive, solving NOTHING. That is all I mean, OK?

OK, thank you and sorry! Do you see how it could be read to mean, “the nightmare that is America is almost over” ? So I was just wondering. And yes, even though I’m a lefty, snowflake, socialist lil punk, I’m tired of people taking a big dump on the USA. Kicking people when they’re down is cowardly and shows a lack of imagination.

The Cave (2005)
JennyFromBlockD 1 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I thought this was fantastic.
It got totally panned by Rotten Tomatoes with a 12%…meanwhile the nearly identical in premise film: The Descent gets a whopping 85%.
Descent which often features complete blackness where you often can’t see what’s happening, actresses who are so talented you’ve never seen them in anything else, “caves” which overall look like the same few tunnels over & over, & creatures that are clearly just humans in masks… compared to THIS masterpiece featuring Queen Cersei Lannister aka Lena Headey, Coyote Ugly’s Piper Perabo, discount Matthew mcconaughey aka Cole Hauser, Morris Chestnut, and other recognizable faces….it features TRULY unique creatures with a cool plotline surrounding where they came from & around the whole discovery of the cave in general; cave systems which all look completely unique from each other; and GOOD LIGHTING.

It completely baffles me how it is even possible that anyone could consider The Descent a better movie than The Cave; let alone consider The Cave a 12% & Descent a 85% (or even on IMDB its 5.1 vs like a 8)

But I digress.

If you havent seen this; go watch it now. If you liked The Descent, you should love this.

EchotaChick 1 points 4 years ago.

Great post, JennyFTB. Going to watch this now instead of The Descent 2, b/c one was enough. =)

Nobodies??? Meaning you are a somebody??? STOP IT LOL!!! Just because u hate a movie doesn’t mean you are the say on if a movie/tv show is good or not lol. Descent 1 was a horror classic but 2 was also good imo. You are complaining about blood spurts going into mouths in a horror movie?? Wtf. Just give your opinion and stop hating ppl liking something you hate!! You can’t make ppl aka the masses agree with you because of some bogus God’s work reasoning when ur promoting prison lol.

EchotaChick 0 points 4 years ago*.

Hi! Ihavesuperpowers! =) I don’t think JennyFromBlockD meant “nobodies” exactly. I think she meant “dum-dums.” =D
Seriously now, I thought for a horror film, the original was OK. Not sure if I want to spend the time on Part 2, however. Since I like stand-up and thrillers, I tend to score them higher. Not loving horror, a movie has to be outstanding for me to like it. Just the way it goes, normally, so one should probably consider that. ttfn & happy viewing my fellow isolators!

The Outsider (2020)

Ive ways thought she was. Not sure if you know but Mr. Mercedes, also by King, has Holly in it also. Though she is played by a white chick and a little more aloof, so while both Characters show some social awkwardness that one for sure shows signs of Asperger’s. also, not sure if i was clear earlier but the BTS content for episodes 8,9 and 10 were all shown as one at the end of the finale. I used the mixdrop link also, I’m not sure if any of the other links are the same cut of video.

just read that king has a novella called“If it Bleeds” coming out in may. If features Holly and is a direct sequel to The Outsider. the article speculated that a season 2, if there is one, will follow that story. also, there was a small teaser after the credits and a pretty cool BTS feature for episodes 8,9 and 10 with some cool insight from King himself.

Octo! Hi! Thanks for letting us know that. Seems like I saw one of them but not all 3, so I’m def going back. This show has been one of my all-time favorites. It’s just superb! eff 01/12 : Brand New Crime Horror/Thriller begins with 10 episodes. It was adapted from legendary horror writer Stephen King, who has now masterfully ventured into the world of criminal investigations.

Interestingly enough, one of the main characters in this series, Holly Gibney, is the same character (albeit different actor) from his 3 Mr. Mercedes Novels turned TV Series.

Definitely worth watching!
