Ed Wynn was just the absolute best. The kind of guy I would have really liked to know personally.

Not bad at all. Kind of a cross between Fantasy Island and SG1 Brief Candle.
Kindergarten theology and really bad acting, but the premise was unique and pretty entertaining in the end.
I don’t know how or why this series was so popular. Maybe I’m just the wrong generation for it. This acting is wooden, the plot is shallow and boring, and the “heroes” are what anyone older than 13 would recognise as simply normal functioning people. Maybe this series is meant as an after-school special for coming of age pre-teens.
Just awful. Incredibly lame writing with confusing and boring plot. Don’t waste your time.
While this show is very entertaining and has a high production value, let the viewer beware that this is not for everyone. The show blends lots action with witchcraft and fairy tale characters, but leans heavily on mystical and satanic kabbalism. Many will find this blasphemous, particularly the last few seasons.
I really wanted to like this, but I guess I was hoping for more scifi/tech, rather than Millennial angst, Nordic noir via SFC, using androgynous characters. The series takes itself way too seriously and came across as tedious, pretentious, and an excuse to push neo-hippie music.
Excellent series with great acting, and great historical accuracy and period costuming. If only they had chosen to not use that horrendous screech-singing all the time. It is unbearable.
All the stories have been told
Of kings and days of old
But there’s no England now
All the wars that were won and lost
Somehow don’t seem to matter very much anymore
Not complaining, but I notice this more and more, that UK, Irish, or Aussie actors are used to portray Americans in films. Does someone know about the film industry and can explain this? Are there not enough American actors? Are they going for a certain “look”? I just find it odd.
I hope someone find the links to this series. I look forward to watching it.
I really wanted to like this series, but the acting is amateur and the storyline and dialogue are just too boring and too slow.
Decent low-budget film that probably won’t ever get much exposure, which is too bad, because there should be more films of this cerebral caliber. That being said, I’m not sure why they chose to use two British actors for lead roles. I mean you could still hear their British accents which was a bit jarring. Is there a shortage of American actors?
I saw this brilliant film when it first came out. I hope someone can find links to it.
The first season was pretty good, but the second season was largely woke touchy-feely nonsense. It’s like they completely changed writers and ruined a good thing. This happens a LOT with Hollyweird series, so no surprise.
That’s what I should’ve done! Would’ve saved myself the agony of watching that. Why are there no good films on at the moment?
So PeeWee was right after all: there really is a basement at the Alamo…kind of…
Great movies with this off-color humor like this masterpiece just couldn’t be made anymore today. Mel Brooks even stated the same thing.
Sadly, most people will probably think Russia is still like this, even 30 years after the fall of the Soviet Union. Hahahaha!
Terrible acting, punctuated by 45 minutes of non-stop screaming, crying, and hyperventilating. Not the best in this series.
Making the character of Matthew autistic was certainly an unexpected quirk of the series. It works though and makes him more endearing. All in all a good series so far. I was afraid the series might be another one of those “yuckin’ it up with my ol’ buddy Jesus” things, but they show reverence while also showing Jesus as very personable and human, dealing with the same struggles we do, and not just “above it all”. Bravo!
A boring and pretentious attempt at achieving some sort of artistic relevance. The editing is so bad they couldn’t even correct spelling errors. I gave up before 30 minutes.
One of the best/most underrated TV shows in a long time. I was very sad to see it end.
This movie was good in that it is a good teachable moment. Too many urbanites think they are going to go off-grid and be the next Grizzly Adams and end up starving to death or getting killed, because they don’t know what the heck they’re doing. Mother Nature is unforgiving.
i hadn’t seen this movie since it came out in the theaters. I forgot how fun it is.
Stylistically somewhat dated, but still a very good and memorable film.
End music, ‘Down Down’ by Status Quo came out in 1974. Much later than when the series is set - the 1960’s
It seems this whole series vacillates between England of the 1940s-70s. It’s kind of a wild ride.
Jack Bannon has a certain flair about him, very similar to Sean Connery back in the 60s.
Not bad, honestly. It has the same sort of clipped, noir, edgy style as the Resident Evil series.
I hope they renew the show. It is unique and though-provoking…which, based on TV history, means they’ll cancel it.
