Decent action, story is a bit thin it tried to be clever but it really isn’t. It is watchable but that is about the best I can say about it. I expected a little more from Luc Besson.

Thursday (1998)

Caught this in the theater it was only there for a week after reviews tore it to pieces. There is a Guy Ritchie vibe here that challenges you to say well I saw that coming. That is because you will not see were this movie is taking you next. I had big fun watching this but, I ain’t right in the head so there is that.

Grand Hotel (2019)
bevnick -1 points 4 years ago.

I was just thinking how much I enjoyed Demian Bichir’s performance in “The Bridge”. I hope this series is a good one!

McShagan -1 points 4 years ago.

You don’t need to talk about what I watch for me to bump you up. : )

Memoirs of a Geisha (2005)
McShagan 3 points 4 years ago.

This is in my top 5 all time favorite movies. The visuals in this are amazing as well as the acting. Which is in it self is amazing because some of it was done phonically. I love Ziyi Zhang in this role and think she is one of the most beautiful women put on this planet.

X-Men (2000)
McShagan 0 points 4 years ago*.

This was the first of the new comic book movies that can be considered as good. I watched it a lot when it came out because it validated my love of comics and in particular the X-Men. Now I look at it and the Brian Singer version doesn’t hold true to the comic and what the X-Men were all about. If you don’t know about the X-Men you can enjoy this as a movie still because it hasn’t aged too badly. I am hoping that the people at Marvel treat this groups story of acceptance of those that are different rather than being shunned and feared simply because they are not understand.

I Am Mother (2019)
McShagan -3 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Fairly underwhelming. The acting was good but substandard writing trying to be smart tells a story that just doesn’t add up in the end.

Shadow (2018)
McShagan 3 points 4 years ago*.

Loved this movie. It was so beautifully shot that I wish I had seen it on the big screen. Mostly shown in black and white except for the flesh and blood and there was blood. It is hard to explain how much I enjoyed this story, and there is a great great story to go along with the beauty.
I will watch this again.

Happy! (2017)
Odie 5 points 5 years ago.

This show is bloody fantastic. Literally. And quit the trip. So glad it got a second season, and the Original writer of the Graphic Novel Signed off on it If Im not mistaken.

McShagan 1 points 4 years ago.

loved the first season Odie I was waiting for season 2 to complete before I binged. Now just waiting for a time gap that will work. Bump!

Swamp Thing (2019)
Rocketman (2019)
Shadesdown2001 1 points 4 years ago.

Great movie! Taron Egerton did an outstanding job with portraying a musical legend like Elton John.

McShagan -1 points 4 years ago.

Agreed I also liked that he sang as well instead of lip-syncing to Eltons songs.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)
McShagan -4 points 4 years ago.

To be honest I couldn’t stay interested. I put it on and I kept finding things I would rather do like washing the dishes and running the vacuum cleaner.

Rocketman (2019)
McShagan 1 points 4 years ago.

This is the movie that takes Taron Egerton to the front of the pack for best actor.

Good Omens (2019) S1 E1
McShagan -1 points 4 years ago.

So far so good on this one. Great cast with too many to name.

Arrival (2016)
McShagan 2 points 4 years ago.

If you don’t get it the first time, it is great enough to watch again.

Archer (2009) S10 E1
McShagan 0 points 4 years ago.

Archer in Space is good.

Black Sails (2014)
McShagan 2 points 4 years ago.

The first season is good and by that I mean well done as far as acting directing and the likes just a little slow in developing. That all changes with season two and it became one of my favorite shows on television. I would put it up there with Deadwood and the first 6 seasons of Thrones. this is a great show to binge especially if you have friends that have not seen it. Get them to join you and have some fun.

Your Highness (2011)
McShagan 1 points 4 years ago*.

This is a bad movie that I have seen like 6 times. Yes it is one of those movies that is fun to watch because it is so stupid and stupid is as stupid does. That’s what Mama said anyways.

Brain Smasher... A Love Story (1993)
McShagan 1 points 4 years ago.

I saw this back in the day it came out after The Adventures of Ford Fair lane and it was okay. If you are a Dice fan you may like it otherwise life is short and this is 90 minutes you can’t get back.

Game of Thrones (2011) S8 E6
McShagan 4 points 4 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

I started last season with my issues with this show that I loved. it was just moving along with all payoffs and little dialog. By the time I saw episode 3 this season I was truly crushed. While with guidance Dumb and Dumber did a great job building an epic. They then proceeded to rip the soul out of it by ignoring every character building moment we have seen thru the first 6 seasons. The best character arch in the show was destroyed in the end. Tyrion and Varys were no longer smart. Jon Snow was no longer the man that those hard sons of bitches of the north chose as their leader and the entire buildup to Jons true parentage turned out to be basically something that pissed off Danny and nothing more. The Night King was just bad for badness sake with no real purpose thoughts other than to kill. The Best minds in the north thought is was a good idea to hide all the women and children among hundreds of corpses for when a zombie maker pays a visit. While the most powerful being on the side of good just sits and does nothing during the biggest event for the last 6000 year goes on all around him. They even dropped the Hound into fire to die. Yes when you could see what was going on it was eye candy at it’s best but that was all it was. Dumb and Dumber had the best effects, directors and actors to work with and produced nothing smart or clever or compelling to end this. Those two need to be taken out into the woods with a saw and a blow torch to pay for what they have done. What happens instead they are given Star Wars to destroy even more than it already has been.

Mountains of the Moon (1990)
McShagan 1 points 4 years ago.

Iain Glen AKA Sir Jorah Mormont looks like a teen in this movie. I love good movies based in history like Master and Commander and this. They are always something I am interested in and this didn’t disappoint.

Frisky Dingo (2006)
McShagan 0 points 4 years ago.

Before Archer there was Frisky Dingo. It only lasted two seasons but that could be because it was so good that Matt Thompson and Adam Reed were given a chance to go big time from Adult Swim to FOX. For me this was one of the best comedy’s out there and it’s heart still beats in Archer. Boosh!

Bull Durham (1988)
SnakePliscan 1 points 5 years ago.

What do you get when you cross a baseball junkie with a romance story … this (great) movie.

McShagan 0 points 5 years ago*.

Tim Robins breathing through his eyelids always makes me laugh. It’s like they say. “If you believe you are playing well because you are wearing women’s underwear, Then you are.”

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)
McShagan 2 points 5 years ago.

My personal favorite of the series. With names like Andy Serkis and Gary Oldman I was surprised that Toby Kebble stole the show with his role as Koba. It doesn’t take long before the fact that these are not apes is not a thought that occurs to you during the movie. This is movie magic at it’s best.

The Adventures of Ford Fairlane (1990)
gypsy soul 1 points 5 years ago.

OMG! I believe in today’s atmosphere I could get McShagan arrested for recommending this film. lmao Yes, it was FUNNY. 7/10

McShagan 1 points 5 years ago*.

Down voted again I see.

The Adventures of Ford Fairlane (1990)
gypsy soul 1 points 5 years ago.

Now you did it! You mentioned “Holy Grail” so I am going to have to watch this one.

McShagan 0 points 5 years ago.

This show is all kinds of wrong lol so don’t say I didn’t warn you.

The Adventures of Ford Fairlane (1990)
McShagan -1 points 5 years ago.

This movie was panned by the critics but what do they know. Also it had the misfortune to come out right when political correctness was all the rage. I loved it and it is right behind the Holy Grail as one of the most quoted movies out there. 300 coming up!

Dead Like Me (2003)
McShagan 2 points 5 years ago*.

One of my favorite series. This show takes the subject in all directions, it’s smartly written and has a great cast. Very binge worthy.

Drive (2011)
McShagan 1 points 5 years ago.

Loved this movie It was one first that I know of that brought back an 80’s synth soundtrack and used it well.

Brightburn (2019)
Jack Irish (2012) S1 E1
gypsy soul 2 points 5 years ago.

Just beginning this series. I really enjoy Guy Pearce and found the Jack Irish movies good fare. I did not know this series existed until today. The first episode is adequate although knowing the characters previously adds extra enjoyment. If you like Guy Pearce watch the three movies first. 7/10

McShagan 0 points 5 years ago.

Apparently we still have 3 year olds using uncle Johnny’s account to down vote people in mass. He isn’t really their uncle that just what mommy makes them call him, while daddy’s at work.

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004)

Another Wes Anderson classic. The extremely subtle humor of this movie sucked me in and made me a fan for life.

Game of Thrones (2011) S8 E4

This episode was sorely lacking a few choice reactions to the news that Arya had killed The Night King. Everyone already knew.

It is not that hard to click the spoiler box. Unless you are trying ruin the experience of others. People that do that get the boot.

Dune (2000) S1 E1
gypsy soul 2 points 5 years ago.

I have read some about the upcoming version and like you, I am looking forward. The casting they have announced is much more to my liking. On your faint praise, I am going to finish the other two installments then move on to Children of Dune. At least the new producer has the love for DUNE in his heart.

McShagan 1 points 5 years ago.

Just beware Susan Sarandon she is retched in this. lol Dune Messiah which counts as the first part of three has most of the original cast except Alice Krige now plays Paul’s mother. The music in this is awesome.

Dune (2000) S1 E1
gypsy soul 2 points 5 years ago*.

DUNE - One of my very favorite sci-fi universes. I LOVED the book and waited so impatiently for the next installment to be released so I could return to this wonderful world I was so excited when I heard they were making the movie in the ‘80s then proceeded to HATE everything about it especially the casting of Paul. Now. here we are, 20 yrs later, and I still HATE the casting. I do not believe anyone involved has even read DUNE, except for the writers. The story is unfolding pretty much true to form but the acting, the actors, etc, is/are GARBAGE. It hurts my heart. 4/10

McShagan 1 points 5 years ago*.

Agreed. The Syfy version was shite While the second installment where they combined Dune Messiah and The Children of Dune I could tolerate. James Mcavoy and Jessica Brooks were no where near as bad in the lead roles. While I know the Lynch version took more that a few liberties I enjoyed it still wishing that Jodorowsky had had the chance to do it first. They even used some of Gigers art on Caladan and on Giedi Prime. I will tell you if you have not heard that Dune is being remade by Denis Villeneuve and I am so hopeful. The casting looks great and I am a huge Villeneuve fan and I can hardly wait. Being one of my favorite book series I know nothing can beat what I have imagined, but I do admit to wanting to see this.

Game of Thrones (2011) S8 E3
jillyr 1 points 5 years ago.

exactly. we’ve been ahead of the books for a few seasons now. perhaps you will find your reasons when/if the books catch up.

McShagan 1 points 5 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

That’s the thing he is not in the books and he never will be. lol
I will shoot my monitor if the whole this was to turn Arya into a white after he touched her.

Game of Thrones (2011) S8 E3
jillyr 2 points 5 years ago.

It’s never as clear in film or shows as to the reasoning behind things. You probably read the books up to the point the show got ahead of them so you will have to be patient and read the books to maybe understand why everything happened the way it did.

McShagan 1 points 5 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Sorry but no. This Night King isn’t in the books, he is a construct of the show runners. What I am talking about is that there was reason behind the white walkers actions. Things were planned and he was the white walkers leader. There was purpose yet there was nothing even hinted at as to the reason why they moved on the south. The writing in the first seasons of the show was some of the best ever, but these last two season have been some of the worst I have ever seen. They are using the he does bad things because he is bad trope. They should have had a chorus singing M.J’s Who’s bad every time he hit the screen and then I could have at least laughed at the The Arya scene like I laughed while watching the movie, “The Room”.

Near Dark (1988)
McShagan 1 points 5 years ago.

Kathryn Bigelow raided her boyfriends movie cast and made one of the most brutal movies ever. Bill Paxton’s best performance IMO love this movie.

Game of Thrones (2011) S8 E3
McShagan 0 points 5 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

I am sorry but I have never been so disappointed in this show as I am now. What was the point? Why after so many thousands of year did the Night King make this move? Was it just to kill the Three Eyed Raven and if so what for? Bitter Steel was north of the wall for years If that was all he needed he could have touched him in a vision if that was all it took to break the spell. Season seven was crap as far as story goes but I was truly hoping that they would turn this thing around but apparently not. If they were going to WOW us with this final battle at least they could have made the fighting visible but they didn’t even do that. Is this what would have happened to Firefly if it had stayed on the air. I cannot believe how heart broken I am over this fucking show.

American Gods (2017) S2 E8
McShagan 1 points 5 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

So Shadow is the son of two gods. I am betting that Mr World has no clue. All the clues were there but I didn’t listen and needed to be slapped in the face with the truth. I will admit that how Mad Sweeney returns should be pretty cool he is my favorite. See you next year I hope.

Wind River (2017)
McShagan 3 points 5 years ago*.

Taylor Sheridan’s follow up to Hell or High Water. Jeremy Renner Is great in this along with Elizabeth Olson’s emotional performance. I had high expectations and it didn’t disappoint. With as much as I liked this it isn’t the type of movie you watch again and again.

Kung Fu Hustle (2004)
McShagan 2 points 5 years ago.

This movie is so rewatchable. I cannot recommend it enough.

Alita: Battle Angel (2019)
McShagan 1 points 5 years ago.

I was so glad the early word on this was wrong. While being aimed at a younger audience they came close enough to the Manga that I really enjoyed it for the eye candy it was. I will say that with the simplistic script Jennifer Connelly and Mahershala Ali were there for their name power alone. There were no scenes that required their talents and their roles could have been performed by anyone with any acting skill. If you haven’t seen it and you have a screen that will show off the best part of this movie wait until a clean version is posted.

Sicario (2015)

If you want to cry Michelle Williams can make you in this movie.

Deadpool (2016)

A great love story

Legion (2017)
McShagan 4 points 5 years ago.

In my opinion Noah Hawley can do no wrong. This is not a show to put on in the background. Paying close attention is a must and even then several watches may be needed to truly appreciate this blend of science fiction, horror and the supernatural. Aubry Plaza’s performance in this is perfect and far exceeds what most people expect from the girl that played April Ludgate in Parks and Rec.

Fargo (2014)
McShagan 5 points 5 years ago.

First season is awesome. Billy Bob Thornton is at his best.
