No doubt there. And I watched that movie over 20 years ago. It was weird.

I’ve noticed he loves working with Antonio Badass. :)
I mean, who wouldn’t? But Almodovar is who gave Antonio his start in movies w/one of my favorite films of his Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown. If you want corny camp, that one is perfect.
WHOA! Can you imagine anyone filming that with a straight face? So corny. And it was wonderful.
That’s what I love about the majority of Almodovar’s movies. The camp factor is what makes them unique, fascinating & over the top. Plus Spanish movies tend to have a lot of camp in them from what I’ve seen. That may be due to Almodovar’s influence over his film career in the ‘70s but also from Spanish telenovelas which are campy af.
I just found out about this movie. Wish it was longer than 30 minutes though. The subject matter deserves far more than that imo.
It is definitely a representation where colour and sound need to be at a proper level to have any valid opinion. I still don’t care for Emma Stone, but love the director, so have hope!
I watched this yesterday & I loved it but the sound was all over the place. I had to keep adjusting the volume for the dialog & still didn’t catch it all. When the music came up it was much louder than the dialog, as well. Very irritating. But I am grateful for being able to see it in my comfy abode at least!
Well I don’t believe you will be disappointed. This is almost his magnum opus, I think.
Great to hear that. Thanks for letting me know. I might just try watching it now & then watch it again when a better copy surfaces.
Ummm, I was responding to your comment which said “with Joanna Lumley (from Ozark)”. I knew she was never in Ozark.
I saw Piglet’s original comment as well that said Lumley was in Ozark. That’s why I made my comment below in support of yours YELLOWbird. Piglet obviously edited her comment.
Love Yorgos Lanthimos’ movies. I’ve seen quite a few of them. ‘Dogtooth’ was my first & it’s a very strange film but I loved it. So much going on in it. He’s moved in more mainstream directions since ‘The Lobster’ which was excellent but not for everyone due to it’s oddness. ‘Killing Of A Sacred Deer’ was quite good, creepy & quirky & ‘The Favorite’ was excellent & quite a bit more accessible. Looking forward to seeing what’s in store w/this latest film once a good copy shows up.
Joanna Lumley, Ozark?? I watched every episode of that series and I think after seeing “AbFab” multiple times I would have found her rather out of her element in Ozark. 😂
Same for our family, although we dug into 3 episodes. We just felt it was trying to hard to be all things. A lot of people loved it, which is good, we just felt kinda bored by it (only our opinion).
I think you and YR1 might like The Fall of the House of Usher if that’s how you feel. Different drama, but it really unfolds nicely.
I watched the 1st epi when it 1st came out but wasn’t impressed enough to keep watching, although it was decent enough. I do like Mike Flanagan though. I’ll try the 2nd epi.
it is an amazing season. I began watching it after Christmas and I am totally binging on it. Juno is incredible, well everyone is. Finally something that is holding my attention with complete passion that grows with every episode.
Great to know. I just watched the 2nd epi & it was just as riveting. All the characters are intriguing due to the acting. There’s also some unexpected humor too sprinkled throughout. Despite knowing all the pieces (or thinking that I do, we’ll see) the storytelling really keeps you in suspense. There’s always surprises right around the corner in the Fargo universe though.
That was an amazing epi. I was riveted. Great acting & the plot had me wondering what would happen next. Looking forward to watching the rest.
Definitely an unexpected outcome. But good for them. Interesting finale. This was far better than I thought it would be. Took a few episodes to really get into it. Then again, I almost didn’t even watch the original series due to not being used to the acting style in the 1st few episodes but glad I hung in there. I might go back & rewatch it before the 2nd season drops next year.
The picnic was cold as ice. No one should have to play against their friend!
This was a great epi. Very tense & one of the most annoying contestants was eliminated.
I can’t pinpoint it but this just wasn’t as good as S1 so far. It seemed very forced. Hopefully it improves . . . .
Good directing as expected but the story is ok, nothing special.
It looked that way from the trailer. I fairly quickly thought oh it’s been done before. At least it’s pretty & acted well since Fincher directs it.
I have to watch this now since I saw two people I follow on social media in the cast lol. Had no idea they were going to be in this. Then again, I didn’t even know a game show was being made out of the show. Unfortunate low rating but it looks good from the trailer. Guess I’ll find out shortly if it’s worth the time.
Jason had a hockey mask. Freddy had those claws. Pinhead had a grid of nails.
Joan Crawford had those goddamn eyebrows.
Sure this movie was based on a book by Joan’s adopted daughter Christina that was later thought of as a hatchet job. But if a half of a half of a half of this stuff is true, that woman was a monster. Watch as Joan Crawford mentally and physically tortures men, women, employees, studio bosses, and her own children in brilliant technicolor. She’s a heinous bitch and she doesn’t give a fraction of a fuck.
And if you’re a gay man and you HAVEN’T seen Mommie Dearest… bro, do your homework.
I have seen it. Such a classic & Faye is absolutely brilliant in it. I need to watch it again since it’s absolutely been the ‘80s the last time I saw it. ‘DON’T FV(K W/ME FELLAS!!’ Iconic!!!

Fun 1st epi. A few good laughs throughout. Nice short epis too. Looking forward to the rest.
Slow start but interesting nonetheless in building up Gray’s character.
Interesting short. It’s like a stage play w/the directions being called out by the main actor or even like the short story this is based on being recited aloud. I like WA because he pushes the boundaries of film & this definitely does that.
Ralph Fiennes who used to be leading man material looked really old. Ben Kingsley was not listed as part of the cast, but he was the doctor. I see this listed as a comedy, but I just did not find the skit all that funny, except for the scene with the patient dancing on the bed. The narrator talking that fast might be considered a talent, but I found it annoying.
Fiennes is 61 (born in ‘62), so yea he has aged. Not everyone ages well & it depends on one’s genes & how well they’ve taken care of themselves too. As the saying goes, beauty fades.
Underwhelming start to the season. It was good but just not scary. Hoping it will improve as the season progresses. Surprised Kim Kardashian did decently but I didn’t expect much lol.
I’m surprised I never heard of this movie, as soon as I started the trailer and heard the bass to My Sharona it went straight to my “to watch” list. I love me a good 80s based movie with the music I grew up on (pop metal death metal and of course punk etc.).
Surprised I’ve not heard of it too since Richard Linklater the director did the Sunrise/Sunset trilogy, Boyhood & Dazed & Confused among many other films. This looks good!
Sissy Spacek & JK Simmons the two leads have such great chemistry between them. It’s like they’ve really known each other for decades. This is very much focused on their characters as an aging couple as they face the issues they encounter w/a little sci-fi thrown in, at least for the 1st epi. Looking forward to seeing the rest.
I had looked forward to this remake since I first heard the news. It did not disappoint. 5 stars.
I’ve been meaning to watch this. Would you recommend seeing the original movie 1st since I’ve not seen it before?
I’m not usually into dog or animal movies but this looks hilarious from the trailer. Swearing dogs? Count me in!!!!
The tennis match with the model was hilarious. Love this show!
John has such a way of covering things you didn’t think about before, in a quirky & humorous way. Great documentary series that almost feels like it’s a faux documentary. Definitely not for everyone since it does take some patience due to John’s halting, unsure narrating that takes him awhile to get out his words but if you have a twisted sense of humor you’ll enjoy it.
Love that they have actors portraying real life celebrities of the ‘70s in this. Gives the show more authenticity.
Great set as always from Kevin Hart. Love him, he’s such a q**ef! Mr. Normand is always consistently funny.
Way better than the UK version
They’re really two very different animals. I don’t think one is better than the other. They each have their own unique spins on the theme that are great & each cast does what they do very well to bring out the comedy of dreary office life.
overrated? no studio would buy it so he put it out for free thats the complete opposite of overrated.
I follow a lot of comedians who are peers/friends of Ari & they’ve all praised this special since it was released. Also the fans have too mostly. That is my definition of overrated.
Poking fun at religions is nothing new and although it used to amuse me, it just seems like low hanging fruit now.
Well Ari is Jewish so he has more of a basis to poke fun at Judaism from his own experience w/it. This is more storytelling than joke telling though. Humorous storytelling can be quite amusing but this is not too humorous imo. I’m usually quite open to different styles of standup & do enjoy great storytelling, but this is not it.
This is up there as one of the best and most original specials out in a very long time. I know this will get downvotted eventually, but don’t pass it up.
I do not agree & I’m a fan. I could only get through half of it & got bored. Not very interesting or funny imo. I did really enjoy his previous hour stand up, but this is WAY overrated.
Each episode builds a greater appreciation for the context and risk surrounding the prosecution of a young person, who is smart and sensitive but whose circumstances hinder his understanding - and ability to protect himself in a perilous situation.
The title is glib but the storytelling is absorbing and thorough.
The title is not glib, it is what the kid said when he called 911, which is in the trailer near the end. Having said that I do appreciate your review because it got me interested to watch this. Looks fascinating.
Moonrise Kingdom, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Grand Budapest Hotel along with The Darjeeling Limited are my favorites. His casts are always remarkable.
They’re all great in their own way. Just the worlds he creates w/his production design team are so amazingly intricate & fascinating.
Great 1st epi of the 2nd season. Love all the ‘taboo’ subjects they approach in it.
Too funny. So glad Guillermo finally was turned into a vampire. This season is off to a great start!
You just don’t get Wes Anderson. For one thing, he doesn’t make horrible movies. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s horrible. For another thing, if you cared to do some research, you’d find that he uses many of the same actors in his movies. Lastly, actors would give anything to be in one. Oh, one more thing. They are all A-listers.
All that being said, I can’t sit through all of Anderson’s movies, he is an acquired taste after all. But there are some I absolutely love.
I agree on most every one of your points here. I’ve watched all his films & love them all to varying degrees but have yet to be unable to sit through one of his films. The acting can be difficult to sit through due to it being at times very dry & staid but it’s done w/the purpose of telling the story & message w/o the bother of emotions getting in the way too much. I do need to be in a particular mood to watch his movies & yes, they are definitely an acquired taste. My first WA movie was The Royal Tenenbaums which I bought w/o seeing anything about it. The cast alone drew me in. My favorite WA movie is The Darjeeling Limited due to the chemistry between the 3 main character brothers. They are so funny. I also really love the beautiful landscapes of India & the vivid colors shown in the set design. Just a visually striking film.
I adore her acting. I had no idea she was in this season! Thanks for the heads-up. Gonna take a chance on this season now. All of the seasons seem to be one-off, continuations, thankfully. We didn’t care for the second season, so haven’t been back, but will now. She’s class.
Loved the 2nd & 3rd seasons & thought they were brilliant. I couldn’t get into the 4th season though & only got 1/2 way through. The whole gangster theme seemed too cold & distant although I know that was the point. I felt no connection to any of the characters though which was the issue for me at least. Glad they’ve returned to form for this season!
