Cannibal Troll (2021)
mattalica 0 points 2 years ago.

A cannibal troll would be a troll that eats other trolls, right? So then… um, no problem! “Oh crap! It’s a troll!” | “Nah, he only eats other trolls.” | “Oh, all good then. Bye Mr. Troll.”

Thanks for the review, all my fav shows in one series, do not know how I missed this but I will definitely be binge watching all the seasons!

mattalica 1 points 2 years ago*.

Me too. I only discovered the show about a week ago…
and I am already in Season 3! -(:D)-

It’s like Desperate Housewives meets Weeds for a party at Breaking Bad’s house… so that’s a win-win-win

Watchmen (2019) S1 E9
Dante89 3 points 3 years ago.

Exciting and very cool alternative version of Watchmen as they call it. Still I don’t see how Dr. Manhattan could die now when he died in a similar way in the movie… and yeah brought himself back to life. That is the only thing I can see as negative about this mini series. Other than that I really enjoyed it and I really can’t see why this much hate for it. It was a very cool and dark story ! And is a much watch for any comic-book fan.

mattalica 3 points 3 years ago.

The mini-series imagines that the ending of “Watchmen” was what happened in the graphic novel (“space-squid”), not the movie. This series basically assumes that the movie - and its ending - never happened.

not to judge it to harshly before even watching it but right off the bat the discerption has the the years wrong. it says its set in 1993 a year after Silence of the lambs…but silence of the lambs is set in 1990 so that would be 3 years…not 1 year as its saying. sorry to be so nit picky but as a fan of the series i can’t help it.

Given the incredibly stupid things that Thomas Harris did with the characters after SotL (both “Hannibal” and “Hannibal Rising” are execrable), it seems a very minor gripe.

if this is meant to be set after the movie, why does she look like a bairn?

mattalica 1 points 3 years ago.

Jodie Foster was 29 years old when Silence of the Lambs was released (i.e., she was born in 1962 and it was released in 1991). The actress that plays Clarice in the TV show (Rebecca Breeds) is 33 years old. That said, she does look very young — she was only 4 years old when SotL was released! :D

Persona: The Dark Truth Behind Personality Tests (2021)
Satyran 1 points 3 years ago.

Got about twenty minutes into it, pretty boring, and then I tapped out. The sound level between the background music and the audio of the people speaking is waaaayyyy off. The music in blaring and you have to strain to listen to the people, which you really would not want to do as what they have to say isn’t interesting at all. The doc seems weirdly put together and does not easily present an argument for or against anything immediately. Seemed more like a weird collage of youtubers and personality types, without explaining either. Not a fan.ps I also hate labels.

mattalica 3 points 3 years ago.

I hate it when the sound mixers can’t get the voice and background/music levels right… it’s a documentary! The point is listening to what the people are saying not the superfluous music.

The Irregulars (2021)
mattalica 1 points 3 years ago*.

First episode was ok. Still seems strange to put supernatural causes in something as logically-driven as Sherlock Holmes - but others have done similar in written work (e.g., The Cthulhu Chronicles series of Sherlock Holmes). There are some definite anachronisms in the language that they use — definitely not Victorian England — but I plan to keep watching the series and see how it plays out in the long run.

Hiiiiie, do see above…I love it when peeps make comments on programs they’ve not even viewed….smh——any news on any of the above we both mentioned besides that mentioned? I love all my English Roses so very much!! Although—Absolutely Fabulous—-the movie—was a carbuncle on their legacy…..what do u think?

mattalica 2 points 3 years ago.

She’s been married to Ade Edmundson since the mid-80’s but they’ve only ever sporadically worked together… I would have loved for them to have done a full series of something together (other than when they both were doing the “Comic Strip Presents” films early in their careers). They seem so lovely together.

excuse me… but who the phuque is this and who cares???????????????????

mattalica 2 points 3 years ago.

She’s a fictional character played by Jennifer Saunders… and anyone who cares would do so because Jennifer Saunders is funny (you may or may not know her from “Absolutely Fabulous”, or all of the work she did with Dawn French (“French & Saunders”)). Or maybe not.

Stumptown (2019)
mikeym 1 points 4 years ago.

Predicable stuff, the usual female cop/PI who is a renegade. She’s ex-military so she can take down guys that outweigh her by 150 pounds…………….the usual car chase with cars flying through the air. It’s all been done before
It’s a typical ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX series

mattalica 1 points 3 years ago.

I outweigh her by 150 pounds and I bet she could kick my arse.

ABC has decided to Cancel Stumptown Season 2 because of Covid-19 issues.

mattalica 2 points 3 years ago*.

Sucks it got cancelled. I really enjoyed Season 1… at least they were able to get a complete ending for the main story arc. They hinted at some additional story arcs in the last episode, but I guess we’ll just have to imagine them ourselves.

Any word or info on a season 2?

Depends on viewer numbers

If you’re a fan of Michael Chiklis or just looking for your next binge this is it …lot’s of intrigue to keep you on your toes and enough action to keep you from getting bored. I say 4 out of 5 stars

mattalica 0 points 3 years ago.

I watched it because of Chiklis. Yeah, it’s no “The Shield”… but enjoyable enough for a watch. I imagine that they had a lot more that they wanted to do in the season before Covid meant cutting it from 10 episodes down to these 6. Hope the so-so reviews don’t end up meaning that it doesn’t get a Season 2. It started going some really interesting and promising directions toward the end.
