but with all the predigest and sexism ..was it?

We can all agree that a certain time in history had its pros and its cons, but when most people wax nostalgic about that time, what they are reminiscing about is their inner experience of that period.

Seriously funny and overlooked comedy. It is a lot like Absolutely Fabulous.

Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000) S11 E9

Best episode of the season so far. Bill Hader makes like Peter Sellers in “Lolita” and plays 3 different characters.

Everything was going just fine until streamzz became the only Link!!!

snazzydetritus 2 points 2 years ago.

I have to agree…it’s disappointing when the only available links turn out to be streamzz links. Streamzz is a fickle and feisty host with variable playability.

Sarah Jessica Parker desiccated. The die hard will follow, disappointing aged but not mature. An attempt to grab this demographic to influence. The irradiated skin appearance on actors is more disturbing.Older people are not all as shallow.

snazzydetritus 1 points 2 years ago.

And what is up with SJP’s eyes these past few years? They look like pinholes filled with ice and surrounded by circular layers of black mud. There is little that is sadder than a narcissistic actress trying so hard, and failing miserably, to look young and sexy.

so bad..stopped watching soon after the absent Samantha dig,”sexy over sixty”.

Yeah…this show was always ridiculous, but I am sure they found ways to make a bad thing worse. Smart of Kim Cattrall to back out of that dumpster fire before she became a walking talking joke, like the other women.

A.P. Bio (2018)
snazzydetritus 2 points 2 years ago.

I am fuming. I can’t believe there’s not going to be a fifth season. It’s been cancelled. What a perfect chemistry of hilarious adults and talented younger actors.

The Kids in the Hall (1988)

Oh lordy! I still sing The Daves I Know and I haven’t heard it for about 30 years and I only saw it the once! I am sure I have the lyrics wrong, LOL. One of my favorite skits.

Between this & Monty Python’s Flying Circus I had zero chance of growing up ‘normal’ (thank god)

I also was raised by the Kids. At least twice daily something reminds me of a skit. I live this way and I love it.

dickgrimes 2 points 2 years ago.

2 of my crushes Parker Posey and Aubrey Plaza in the same movie??? I have to watch👍👌

snazzydetritus 2 points 2 years ago.

This is actually the third in a trilogy which started back in 1997 with “Henry Fool” and then continued with “Fay Grim” in 2006. All 3 movies heavily feature Parker Posey, especially the second one which is named for her character. If you love her, you must see all 3!

The Conners (2018) S4 E8
Rontron25 -2 points 2 years ago.

this “new age” garbage does not resonate with the show, out of place. the show will be cancelled soon anyway

snazzydetritus 1 points 2 years ago.

The new age stuff doesn’t bother me much, it’s just a means to an end plot-wise anyway…what bothers me is the degradation of characters I once held dear, led by a Darlene whose classic 90s personality has been put through a trash compactor, taken out and then inexpertly applied on top of a shrill, cheating, tiresome harpy that I don’t even recognize. And the fact that Jackie has been relegated to the background as some kind of court jester is unacceptable. I know that the writers have changed wildly since the first season, but it’s like watching once-pure water get polluted with cloudy sludge and swirl down the drain. And I guarantee it is still going to be a long time before the show is cancelled.

Adrienne (2021)
alicefell 1 points 2 years ago.

I remember when Waitress came out (she directed). I saw it at the theater — it was a huge indie hit with the critics and the audiences! I loved it and it’s on my list to watch again. I recommend Waitress - delightful!

snazzydetritus 1 points 2 years ago*.

It was a smaller film, but if you liked Waitress, please take the trouble to find “Sudden Manhattan”. It’s here on Primewire. It was the first film she wrote, directed, produced, and starred in. I like it more than Waitress.

Malfunkshun: The Andrew Wood Story (2005)

Informative doc on a musician and band of the early 90s that get unfortunately overlooked.

Adrienne (2021)

Lovely documentary. Her murder was so awful, but this shows how vital, talented and happy she was before the unthinkable happened. Everyone should check out her acting and the films she wrote and directed.

Joe Pera Talks with You (2018) S3 E4

This show is like a sanctuary away from the madness of the world for me. I just want to curl up inside it with a mug of hot chocolate. I recommend it highly.

Chad (2021)
Rowdy Yates 0 points 2 years ago.

Sadly I think much of the mainstream viewers seem to process things literally and concretely thus abstracts like absurdist humor or black comedies for example go over their heads. I’ve watched a few episodes and it definitely has it’s moments.

snazzydetritus 0 points 2 years ago.

You’re absolutely correct. Most of the folks downvoting this show simply cannot mentally compute ironic, hyperbolic, droll, satirical, or self-deprecating humor.

Reality Bites (1994)
snazzydetritus 2 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Spent 1 1/2 hours hate-watching this contribution to society for the first time since it came out in ‘94. There’s manic-pixie-nightmare-waif Winona Ryder, who seems somehow to turn men into helpless, jealous simps. There’s Ethan Hawke who is in deep love with himself and mutters dozens of cute, not-cute lines. Bad acting and bad writing explode. This movie is basically what some square screenwriters thought Generation X was all about. Good for a laugh, though.

The Doors: Live at the Isle of Wight (2018)
TisOnlyMe 6 points 2 years ago.

It was 1970, a lot of burnout after the 60s! This was also Jimi Hendrix last gig before he died. The festival itself was badly organized and there were a lot of heavy vibes around in spite of so many great acts playing, big security presence. This weekend felt like a turning-point for the whole scene, it certainly changed my Life! https://www.primewire.li/movie/253086-watch-message-to-love-the-isle-of-wight-festival

snazzydetritus 2 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Yes, glad the whole thing was well-documented though. I have the Message to Love DVD. It was wild watching the fence be dismantled. One of my favorite parts was when the whacked-out fellow jumped onto the stage between Joni Mitchell numbers and began his crazy rant. Good stuff.

You lucky dog. This was Morrison’s final performance in Europe. When I watch it, I get this sense from the way he performs that he was just tired. Just ready to stop. It was as if his spirit was broken.

“EXPOSED! The WEIRD RITES of the HIPPIES” Yikes, i guess there was stuff they never told us about at the time.. will have to watch this to find out what secrets i missed out on! Or maybe i’ll just drop another tab instead, he-he.. :))x

snazzydetritus 2 points 2 years ago.

Don’t know if you got a chance to watch this, but it’s interesting. Compared to most of the documentaries about the counterculture that were actually filmed during its heyday, this one features people who are articulate and make some fairly intelligent statements (except for one girl at the end saying some clueless things about LSD causing genetic damage). It isn’t disparaging at all.
