The second contestant, “The Natural,” has such impressive skills and really goes for it! So, disappointing when he almost made it in the Crank it Up obstacle but fell. He’s going to be a great upcoming contender for ANW. And, what a great career, omg to see him interacting with those “wild” animals, amazing! Just getting started watching but felt to pipe-in on him, and over all how great ANW is. Can’t wait to see my “fav” The Weaterman.

The Name of the Rose (2019)
PacificLilly 1 points 4 years ago.

Absolutely a must-see! Kept me on my toes through the end… loved the twists and turns and guessing not just one but MANY “who-done-its!?” I loved it! A must see for those who love a good mystery with masterful and intelligent writing and execution.
Extremely whitty & intelligent, dark humour mystery, great cast and acting, interesting storyline that adds some non fictional historical aspects from the time it takes place. It can get a little dark, which isn’t always my favorite type of mystery- but this was so well done, I cannot complain one teensy bit.
Apologies for this purely written opinion/review. I don’t have the time to really write this correctly or well done, but saw your question and had to speed type a reply so you don’t miss out! 2 thumbs up from me. I hope this helps and hope you enjoy it as much as I did if you watch it! Best wishes to you!

Was just checking out your favs PacificLilly and we share many but this one I hadn’t heard of but the cover and name caught my interest, so here I am reading your review. And btw, excellent review, just the way I like them and try to do myself when I have time and feel inspired by something, particularly something I don’t think others might have heard of. I didn’t even notice if you wrote it “correctly or well done” haha felt thorough, passionate, and without giving away anything, so imo, excellent job! I’d love to see more of these types of reviews, and might even check out the show myself when I’m in the mood for the mystery genre.

El embarcadero (2019)
8STORY8 -2 points 4 years ago*.

Getting better and better! Half-way through the season (ep.4) and I’m giving it 8.5/10. “El embarcadero” The Pier (Spanish Subtitles) thematically explores the human dynamics of passion, control, love, sexuality and fidelity and more. It’s beautiful and artfully written, acted and directed. I could compare it to the series “The Affair,” but I prefer El embarcadero, so far! I’m finding it more and more deeply captivating, fresh, and fascinating how it’s unfolding. For a taste, you can watch the official trailer HERE And, It is perfectly set in the Albufera’s in Spain, a spacious, quite, remote scenic freshwater lagoon & estuary off the east coast of Spain. And, yet, its western grassy marshes provide the residents there with solace, privacy and secrecy, for El embarcadero is a drama with mystery, intrigue and suspense.

Mukunda now “Having traveled the world with Moselle’s astonishing documentary (Wolfpack), the cinephile notes of this early endeavor (Window Feel): “It feels quite epic to watch this film because it connects with what’s happening in my life right now. Fascinating, interesting, thought-provoking which I watched last night, and I’m still processing it. It engaged me, and I wasn’t bored for a moment. It’s a documentary of a unique family, in short, where seven children were not allowed to leave their family’s lower-east side New York upper floor apartment for most of their childhood, and the ramifications that it presents for it’s coming of age sons who broke free and are re-discovering their world, and themselves.

I really thought there for a moment and imagined, “No?!? they (the writers) wouldn’t do that??? Or, would they??? Or maybe that… or this… keeping so many divergent directions possible and plausible. Yet instead, they always take you in another unexpected direction. Keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Damn that was good. Tight writing! And, I’m always amazed at how each season’s addition of a new character(s) is so thoroughly compelling, all of them. And, this season’s introduction of Rita, wow. Actress Lea Purcell who plays Rita Conner is fantastic. She holds and carries a scene so compellingly, and even from the get-go, episode one, before any significant character development. “Multi talented Leah Purcell is a Theatre, Film and Television Actress, Singer, Director, Playwright and Author. She is the youngest of seven children of Aboriginal Australian descent…” Read more on Leah Purcell HERE on IMDB And, over all, the entire Auzzie cast is damn impressive. And I recommend an interesting show and interview with Leah Purcell on this episode of Anh’s Brush with Fame, that you can watch right HERE on Primewire. Glad, to be back binge-watching season six and looking forward to catching up to seven!

Though I found all the episodes this time around to be good and enjoyable to watch I feel this season is lacking in comparison to other seasons. They can do better. Hopefully Season 6 will impress me more, but guess we have to wait another year for that.

8STORY8 1 points 4 years ago.

I feel similarly “good and enjoyable to watch,” very well done and thought provoking, imo, but definitely not as shocking as some of the previous season’s episodes were; and I found I kind of enjoyed that, like a nice breather this season. My favorite was ep.2 of the 3, but did enjoy them all. One of my favorite aspects of this show though is that many of the “cautionary tales” are about not far future tech but very relevant to now and next in probability. The farther future episodes were pretty awesome though, but I like how relatable the near ones are.

Years and Years (2019) S1 E3
8STORY8 1 points 4 years ago.

I’m really interested. It’s like a mix of This is Us, Shameless and Black Mirror. But, I wish it had subtitles, for two reasons, even though it’s in English. I sometimes can not understand the dialect of a few of the characters. And, because the music is loud and sometimes plays right over the dialogue. I’m going to ask for a link with subtitles in the forum.

I was afraid that watching this would take away from the magic of the experience of my deep enjoyment of the story, the characters, the world. But, no I’m just loving this. But, I’m glad I waited till I was ready to watch it. Sunday, when it aired was too soon for me, haha. Today, I felt ready, felt curious, glad I was. P.S. Seeing the scope of what is involved, makes the over-site of just 2 water bottles on set completely and utterly understandable.

Bardo Blues (2019)
8STORY8 1 points 4 years ago*.

What an interesting metaphysical multi-dimensional movie. Sticking it out to the end had a significant pay-off. Now, that being said, to me even though it was meant to be obscure along-the-way, it sure could have been done better. It felt like novice writing and directing although there’s some great stuff and lots of potential to work with here. I’d love to see it redone but not lose its metaphysical focus either <<< That’s my jam! I’m so glad I came across this movie via PW comments! Thanks Robophone. And, thanks for the “better Trailer” link, too. I did check it out and felt drawn to check out the movie from what I sensed this may be about and where it might go. And it did! Haha trying not to spoil anything but give a sense of the nature of this piece w/o giving anything away either…maybe I’m the one whose obscure LOL. I’d love to hear what others think about it, too. I sense many might think it’s a ridiculous mess, confusing, boring, and fall very short of my own take on it. But a few might see that it’s interesting or even quite amazing and beautiful.

Ah, did a little research on “Haley Joel Osment” who plays the a.i. boy ~ no wonder you found him to be a “young very good actor”; He did this movie following The Sixth Sense and Pay it Forward. But I never heard of this one. “He is the first millennial male to have received an Academy Award nomination for acting.” (IMDB)
I do look forward to checking it out.

Glad I gave it a try, wasn’t disappointed. Second half really picked up steam. Middleditch anchored the acting, the others were a bit stiff, which somewhat could compliment Keanu’s Reeve’s character’s personality type, but not so with the others, so I gave it a 3.8/5 and still would recommend it as an interesting, thought-provoking, an entertaining movie.
