Midori (1992)
booger 1 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

This movie is grotesque. And what is truly grotesque is that after a little bit of research you find out that this story (and/or variations thereof) was/is? quite popular in Japanese street theater.
Imagine Robin Hood or punch and judy but instead of robbery and domestic violence it’s all the about other forms of human depravity like rape, physical and physiological abuse, hebephilia, pedophilia and other uncommon sexual fetishes and all of it played out on a street corner for anyone to see.
I can only think that the reason this became so popular was because the conditions were so horrid that people would watch this and say to themselves, it could be worse.

footshot 2 points 3 years ago.

thats the best reccomendation to not watch anything i have ever heard, thanks

Primal (2019)
Blueozzie 3 points 4 years ago.

It’s in HD the only reason you may think it isn’t is because when people upload to these sites the compression that they generally use make the video look a little worse.
If you actually want an uncompressed 720p/1080p version you have to go to a torrent site and download it, not stream it.

other sites manage it , just saying

Not really sure what’s up, tell the truth. What I saw was in English, seemed to start off at a kids birthday party. Not sure if that’s how the one you saw started or not. Thought it was strange that a French originating show was in English unless it was dubbed, which does happen sometimes, esp. with some Japanese stuff, like Anime, for example, or the occasional martial arts movie, so I check from time to time just to see.

This was English, so I put it on the back burner, then everything just vanished?

Greyhound (2020)
kingarco66 2 points 3 years ago.

that wasnt really the problem .. the machine was invented in 1923 and freely commercially available for keeping industrial secrets .. capturing code books for the code of the day would have been more useful, but wouldnt last more than the expected length of a sub’s mission .. the real trick was the british invention of electronic computers, that could decode the signal fast enuf for the info to be useful .. but even then if they had taken too much advantage of the ability to listen in, they would have made it obvious the ratzi comms were broken, and the ratzis would have found some other way to encrypt comms .. so in many cases they had no choice but to let the subs have their way, to keep thier cards close to thier chest as it were .. the story that capturing an enigma machine was critical, was pushed for a very long time because the real code breaking methods were under the official secrets act for 50 years after the war

Made in Auschwitz: The Untold Story of Block 10 (2019)
Themoo 11 points 3 years ago.

Europeans are already well aware of it. We’ve had school outings to Auschwitz to get a guided tour in painstaking detail of the horrors that happened there before even hitting the teens - of what happens when far right wing politics, fascism, is left unfettered. The end result of an elected leader who alienated allied nations, spoke of walls, promised to solve all the problems and then blamed such on minorities. Who stoked fear, hatred and division within his own nation.

That kind of history is already repeating.

footshot 0 points 3 years ago.

thats the smallest continent in the world war , so perhaps this is aimed at a wider audience?

Battlefield Earth (2000)
Canuckian 1 points 4 years ago.

He wrote a Decology (ten books total) and i believe the overall series was called Mission Earth with each of the ten books having its own title..i read the series twice, it was the first Sci-fi series i ever read and i loved (and laughed) every minute of it. It was amazingly written and had so many colorful characters that could be easily related too..especially the “bad” guy who had the absolute WORST luck lol..most of the funniest moments in the series had to do with him and his misadventures trying to take down the “hero” so to speak..anyways, not sure if this is the series you are reffering too, but i highly suggest giving it a read if you ever get the chance.

footshot 1 points 4 years ago.

Thats theone , Highly reccomend it, theres humour hidden there in the book ,.. like the antihero Solt an griis [salt & grease] for instance, wouldnt translate to film , awesome story tho

Battlefield Earth (2000)
Canuckian 0 points 4 years ago.

agreed..i read the nbook a long time ago and i remember how disappointed i was in how loosely this movie is based on the book…i mean, the overall plot is the same, but as you said, the book was massive and there is no way they could have put it all into one movie, a trilogy at least to do it justice…the book was amazing, probably one of my all time fave sci-fi reads. I highly suggest giving it a go..forget who wrote it and the controversial nature of his other hobbies, just read this for what it is, a GREAT sci-fi novel. If you liked the movie, then you will LOVE the book, trust me.

footshot 0 points 4 years ago.

he wrote a longer scifi book too , cant recall the title but it was great [funny too]
