Meh, the who thing just seemed forced, low/energy, almost depressing. 2.5/5 for me.

Interview with the Vampire (2022)
Arcangel2020 -1 points 1 year ago.

Oh, gee…it the remake/reboot of the gawd awful “Interview with a Vampire” movie, not only that but it’s another “based on the novel by…” series (which is always a Red Flag).
The entire Anne Rice vampire novel series was absolute total dreck. I always tell people who thought it was good? Read author Brian Lumley’s “Necroscope” and “Blood Wars” series. Now THOSE are some GREAT Vampire/Wamphyri creatures that put Anne Rice’ “vampires” to shame.

grasshopper rex 13 points 1 year ago*.

Yeah, those horrible “based on the novel by…” series. Game of Thrones, The Witcher, Good Omens, Watchmen, Dexter, A Handmaid’s Tale. I love how people speak as if their opinion is the definitive one. Given that Rice has sold over 130 million books, I doubt she is losing sleep at night because you don’t like her work. Comparing Rice’s books to Lumley’s is like comparing apples to oranges. Yeah, they’re both fruits, but they taste nothing alike. Some prefer apples, some oranges. Some like one, but have no like for the other and just because you don’t care for something doesn’t mean that it has no value.

The Vow (2020)

I think it’s cool. Norm life is sooo fucked up. Just mention the price of over consumption in the world as an example.. animal industry, undisciplined sloppy self indulgent people e.t.c. Keith and his branding is cheesy for sure but WTF.. Any one that want to can leave with some effort if they not to stupid (in witch case they must learn)and I mean how easy is it to get some fairly safe corny action in life.. Really?? Some branding is not a high price and they girls don’t seem to suffer to badly over the wine and their dinners. I’m sure I’m a bad person but it has been proven over and over again that people prefer even pain over boredom. And be honest here.. is it not what this all is about.. boredom of a rich spoiled nation? And some kink to get the little slot wet for a change.. the normal search for some responsible parents instead of a meeting with death and the true loneliness of life in a body.

somniloquist 13 points 3 years ago*.

Denying someone food, sleep, and social contact is not ‘kink.’ Systematically diminishing someone’s capacity to function in the above ways is no different than drugging someone. Consent is not legally possible at that point. It doesn’t matter the socio-economic standing of the victims, this is nothing other than criminally predatory behavior.

This was an absolutely fantastic series finale! And oh my goodness, what a cliffhanger! Now though, the long wait for Season 4! grimaces Oh the agony! How am I supposed to manage or cope?! Ahhhhh! Lol.

This series is not only in my top 3 favorite/best shows that’s currently airing but is also one of the BEST TV series I’ve seen in a very long time, last 15 years at least.

Without a doubt, this series has that “Je ne sais quoi” or “X factor. Not to mention, the acting, directing, dialogue, cinematography and soundtrack are completely amazing and absolutely top notch!

I never would have thought, back when I watched this show but Lee Pace is 6’5’’, K Chenoweth is 4’11 1/2’’. They musta had a ton of boxes (or holes) scattered all over the sets.

Dr Death (2021)
DemandingFemale 9 points 2 years ago*.

Extremely easy binge. Gripped me at the very start of the first episode and didn’t let go. The acting from Baldwin, Slater and Jackson was top-shelf. Lots of poetic licence was taken, but it certainly doesn’t make the true crime it’s based on any more/less abhorrent.

Black Widow (2021)
Abyss 9 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

This met my expectations and was hoping for more Marvel Easter eggs because I’m not a huge Black Widow fan. It’s just your typical assassin/spy action movie which is still good, but we want more coming from MCU. I’m just happy she finally got her own solo movie, it took way too long to come out.

The Last Kingdom (2015)
Brutus 9 points 5 months ago.

I don’t know why I didn’t want to watch this series while it was airing, but after binge watching all the episodes and the movie, this has to be one of the best series I have seen. I thought the first 3 seasons were better than the last 2 but last 2 were still great as well.

Now that I have finished it, I want more of it and have been trying to find something similar to watch but haven’t found anything comparable yet.

The Truman Show (1998)
Guppusmaximus 9 points 2 years ago*.

Film critics & fans love to say that The Matrix changed cinema and on many levels it did BUT The Truman Show did just as much for cinema on a more intrinsic & intuitive level. However, one fact still remains…Jim Carrey was brilliant and this role marked his transition from a silly comedy troupe member to a legit, dynamic actor.

Reservation Dogs (2021)

Watched the 1st epi.& it is pretty good. More drama than comedy but there’s definitely some funny moments. Great & interesting characters by the young cast. Beautifully shot too. Waititi co-created & exec produced it but didn’t direct. I’ll definitely keep watching.

Emmerich has to one-up himself for each of these disaster flicks. His next one will have to be a threat to the whole solar system, I suppose :)
As his disaster flicks always are, this one is just over-the-top with everything and stuffed full with action - popcorn munching and soda sipping fun!
Set you suspension of disbelief to 11, first, though.

Don't Look Up (2021)
citylion 9 points 2 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

So this was essentially Idiocracy 2.0 or for this generation. Not bad, not great. I’ll say that it was a fun ride but depressing in the grand scheme of things. The actors I’m sure had a ball getting boat loads of money thrown at themselves making it. Good for them.
I did enjoy the very end as well.
Also I’m behind part of the message of reason. The satire is just so harsh and close to home considering these stupid space races going on. Ironically, the good parts of this film will probably go over a lot of people’s heads.

The Beatles: Get Back (2021)
TisOnlyMe 10 points 2 years ago.

HISTORY IN THE MAKING.. Peter Jackson has done an amazing job compiling these programmes. Seeing the Beatles at work and creating their last 2 iconic albums from scratch.. it’s like being in the room with them, hearing all their conversations and laughs. My only caveat would be, you kinda have to like the Beatles A LOT and be REALLY interested to spend this many hours watching as the new songs gradually emerge. If you’re not a big fan this might just be boring and overload; certainly this isn’t an ideal introduction to the band for newbies, this is more like the final chapter so best start at the beginning if you don’t already know them well. Myself i’m enjoying this a lot, it’s great to spend time with my childhood heroes even when it is so patchy and grumpy at times. There was still a lot of heart in that room! Well done PJ, loving it so far!! :))x

Morse 9 points 2 years ago.

Yes I agree re length for newbies - but I’m a huge fan, so happy to sit through 20 hours of this any day, fabulous.

Total Recall (1990)
somniloquist 9 points 3 years ago*.

A Plea on Behalf of Practical Effects: This film is thirty years old, and most of it looks like it could be made today. It features prosthetics, model builds, puppetry, matte painting, and all kinds of makeup effects. And they ALL hold up. The only places that look even slightly dated are anything approaching CGI, which was mostly likely just blue screen at the time.
Technology will always move at a fast pace, and CGI in movies from just five years ago has already started to look laughable. Sure, maybe it’s a little cheaper and a little faster. But if studios would go back to investing in the artists that make effects in movies like Total Recall, there would be so many more things standing the tests of time.

This is the most amazing show that I have ever seen. It is really high quality, and the story-line is really good. Every episode keeps my attention from beginning to end. Sometimes I feel like I am watching a super long blockbuster movie instead of a tv-show. I give this show a 10 out of 10.
