If you like the OA and The East you have to watch Sound of My Voice. It’s a mind trip!

Yes, Good call, I forgot to recommend that one too. Excellent movie as well, though I’m a bigger fan of The East

Agreed. Just happy I decided to give it try

If you like it, you might also like a movie that the creators of OA made awhile back, which also stars Brit Marling, with Alexander Skaarsgard and Ellen Page, called The East.

Jennifer “Joker” Leigh

Atypical (2017) S1 E1
snazzydetritus 3 points 2 years ago.

Good god, Jennifer Jason Leigh destroyed her face for no good reason except vanity. She was so pretty before, even with the aging process these Hollywood actresses are so deathly afraid of. Now her face looks like a crazy mixture of a muppet, the Joker, and a tortoise. That said, this show is enjoyable.

snazzydetritus 1 points 2 years ago.

Oh my god, I just remembered it was her dad, Vic Morrow, that got decapitated by the stunt helicopter in the filming of that early 80s Twilight Zone movie! She was only 20 when it happened. In fact, she inherited his resting frown-face. Now I feel kind of bad for slamming her.

Atypical (2017) S1 E1
ssjkvzhen88 2 points 2 years ago*.

Agreed. I’ve watched all 3 seasons that are currently out, and she’s the one person in this show I can’t stand looking at, but that could also stem from me hating her character’s personality and storyline.
This is what happens when you get a 60-year old actress to play the mother of 18 and 16 year old children.

— I mean she gets a few good moments, but they’re obligatory mom moments.

snazzydetritus 2 points 2 years ago.

I DESPISE her character.

Beware the Slenderman (2018)
dontfwme 1 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Anissa Weier was sentenced to up to 25 years in a mental institution. I watched a doctor on youtube that said she was the most dangerous of
the 2 girls!
Morgan was diagnosed with Schitzophrenia and sentenced to 40 years
in mental institute. Her father also has Schitzophrenia, it’s genetic.
Both are very sad, regardless. And sad for Payton as well, she will suffer
for many years, if not forever, maybe PTSD.
The whole thing is sad all the way around. Poor little kids. :-(

snazzydetritus 0 points 2 years ago*.

Yes, I have viewed this doc repeatedly. It is devastating. And from our outside and subjective viewpoint it seems so random.

Beware the Slenderman (2018)
dontfwme 1 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I am at a loss for words. What these girls did just seems so sick.
I can’t even think of a punishment because on one hand I know
those girls are sick, and on the other hand if I was the parents
of the victim I would probably feel that there is no punishment
good enough for what they did to my child.

snazzydetritus 0 points 2 years ago*.

but you must be logical also and bear in mind that these are very young girls who may still have the time and capacity for rehabilitation and maybe normal lives. Even the especially f-ed up can come around with the right help, esp. girls, as they have a propensity to be more fluid. There is one such case - look up “Child of Rage” on YouTube. Also, the bestselling author Anne Perry (born Juliet Hulme) helped her friend kill the girl’s mother when she was an adolescent, and now she lives a normal life. Peter Jackson made an excellent film about the incident (one of my favorites) you can see here https://www.primewire.ag/movie/240829-watch-heavenly-creatures It is also Kate Winslet’s first feature.

Barry Lyndon (1975)

While this is not my favorite Kubrick film, this is most definitely one of his finest cinematic works. It’s no surprise it won Academy Awards for costume design and cinematography. The camera work alone is worth the watch! Ryan O’Neal’s performance was amazing as well.

snazzydetritus 3 points 2 years ago.

you are absolutely right about all of that. this remains my favorite Kubrick film in that every part of it is a masterpiece, and I can view it anytime and in any mood, and be utterly moved and satisfied.

Atypical (2017) S1 E1

what the heck! I think Jennifer looks fabulous for her age, which is my age. If she’s had plastic surgery it was done well because I can’t tell where she has had it if she’s even had it. I totally don’t see what you see.

snazzydetritus 3 points 2 years ago.

holy crap. if you can’t see the difference please google her before and after pictures bc you are in the minority. Yes, she would be a gorgeous woman who looks fabulous for and despite her age, but she ruined that by butchering her poor face, which never needed the work to begin with. These women who get all this work done in a mad attempt to hide the fact that they are aging (a totally normal and beautiful process) don’t seem to understand that this work simply makes them look vain, desperate and insecure. Look at Frances McDormand. She has not had a lick of work done and she exudes confidence, and that’s sexy.

It is a hilarious show, hands down. Screw the hating mob. Most of the complaints I read about the show revolve around Chad being played by a woman, and things having to do with the fact that the main character is Middle Eastern - what does that tell you about the people making the complaints?

My 600-Lb. Life: Where Are They Now? (2015) S7 E3
~LivingDeadGirl~ 3 points 2 years ago.

Anyone remember those stupid potato chips they came out with in the 90’s? They were like the biggest supermarket ticket item at the time because they had some special chemical in them that made them fat free and calorie free so supermarkets couldn’t keep them on the shelves. There was this craze for these stupid chips….until… it was like this mass exodus of people who came forward complaining that the chips were causing ANAL LEAKAGE of all things. It was huge news at the time because so many people had hoarded these things like it was 2020 and the apocalypse was coming, then all of a sudden there were baby diaper explosions going on all over the country. Anyone else remember this happening? Know the brand of chips?
Her talking about the “leakage issues” she was having reminded me of that story. Not mentioning this to put her down in any way whatsoever, because I do find her pretty brave to even mention something that personal on national tv like that (especially on a channel known to find people like her so they can make fun of them).

Mare of Easttown (2021) S1 E3
PonderThis 0 points 2 years ago.

At times I hate Mare and at other times I know why she is the way she is! In the one scene, she is very kind to the teen and talking to the teen in a motherly tone. A tone she is using to get information but LACKS this tone with her own daughter! She appears to be kinder to other children than her own. I know she is still upset about the loss of her son but there is no need to treat her daughter in that harsh manner! I hope we will soon learn why she is rather cold to her daughter.

What happened in Waco was an implementation of trauma on the American public. Even my mom in Sweden used to call me a waco at times when she didn’t agree.. Like a projection of madness without an argument from a standpoint of normality.. Bullying straight up.

I don’t gonna see this film as i believe there is better ones crunching this drama. Paramount made Waco https://www.primewire.li/tv/275640-watch-waco

Large, sure, but do they have 30 million followers or do they claim to have them? If they do really have them, I still won’t despair, how many people believe that Elvis lives, the moon landing was fake, people are being mind-controlled by chemtrails, etc, etc, etc… I won’t mention the beings from other worlds out of respect for Alien. :D

snazzydetritus 2 points 3 years ago.

Are you one of those folks who, back in 2016, self-assuredly told people, “Don’t worry- there’s no WAY Donald Trump will get the presidency.”…?

Q: Into the Storm (2021)
cloroxbleach 4 points 3 years ago.

Well, yes, I certainly agree with that as well. It’s fair to say that it’s healthy to question and examine the government and question whether it has good intentions for its people. Beyond that though, the Q Anon thing is pretty cult like, it’s based on a lot of hearsay and nonsense, and it doesn’t actually encourage people to think for themselves. My gran lived through the Great Depression and WW2 and I think she’s right when she told me that “people tend to start believing bizarre things under times of distress or disorder”. I’m not gonna blather on about my own opinions of Q (except that I’ll say it’s a crazy story with more plot holes than ‘facts’, with no objectivity or “research” whatsoever).
The point of my comment though was that it’s creepy to me how people are so “one or the other” about everything. If you dislike Trump, you were assumed to love Hilary. If you say you’re not into the left, people assume you must be on the right. In particular, many people who claim to be “left” (and thus assume that means they’re the “progressive ones” who care about human rights and all-sorts of other good things) but then they adamantly are against freedom of speech. That’s what I meant by fascism creeping in from all sides, I Feel political correctness is simply another annoying thread of fascism.
The left and the right are two wings of the same poisoned bird.

snazzydetritus 2 points 3 years ago.

I agree. This aggressive polarity is fruitless, illusory, and dangerous. People are indeed taking to these extremes, as you and a commenter above mentioned, because these are desperate and chaotic times, and the human brain and spirit needs to be able to survive and make sense of the situation. The media we ravenously consume and our emotional, reactionary response to it, and the events that bombard us on a daily basis, further complicates our ability to see things objectively. We allow even slight, superficial differences of opinion to feed the angry beast within and drive us apart from our fellow humans. The farther we drift from one another, the less chance we have of any UNITY, which is the only shot we have at actually changing the world for the better. I feel like if we dropped our defensive idealism, and broke down what each of us truly values, we could find that our neighbor might have the same ultimate values, even if they appear on paper to belong to the “other side”. You can write this off as hippie-dippy crap if you want. It doesn’t mean it it’s not possible.

Q: Into the Storm (2021)
cloroxbleach 4 points 3 years ago.

“unfettered free speech” is an American tradition and part of our culture. Whether you agree with “Q” stuff or not, there’s fascism creeping in from all sides. When will people learn that the “answer” isn’t censorship?

snazzydetritus 5 points 3 years ago.

Neither is conspiracy theory the “answer”.
