The Golden State Killer: It's Not Over (2018)
KellysGirl2008 1 points 4 years ago.

Very nice review, thank you, but the killar was actually caught on April 24, 2018. His name is Joseph James DeAngelo.

magically_delicious 1 points 4 years ago*.

Excellent and helpful info, thanks! I’ll have to read up on it. You’d think they would’ve amended their information to reflect that, wouldn’t you?

Just like they hypothesized, he served in the military (Navy) and was a police officer. Watch out for those police officers!

People Magazine Investigates (2016) S4 E9
magically_delicious 1 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

People Magazine quotes this episode (at the end) as being one of “redemption” and “second” chances. It truly, truly is. I’ve watched a lot of these. This particular story/episode is proof that at times extremely drastic, and even “illegal”, measures must be taken to correct huge abuses and familial evil. This is a great story — one in a million, really. I’m glad I watched it.

Kings of Pain (2019) S1 E6
magically_delicious 1 points 4 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

I learned something useful in this episode. The Rove Beetle (aka “Charlie Ants”) does horrific damage to the epidermis, and they are found nearly everywhere in the world near water (fresh and salt). They are very small, and excrete a toxin when their abdomen is crushed (easily/accidentally done to small, unnoticeable insects like these). The venom/toxin is an adhesive, glue-like substance, which sticks to the recipient. The affects on the skin are not seen for days, usually beginning on the second day, and include extreme blistering, burning, pain, and puss that grows progressively worse. I enjoyed this show a bit more, though I firmly maintain that “Caveman” is thoroughly irritating. As is the constant whining they both torture the viewer with (“Why is this happening?”, “Why did you do that (directed at the creature)?”).

Seven Worlds, One Planet (2019) S1 E7
magically_delicious 1 points 4 years ago*.

I thoroughly enjoyed and immersed myself in this series. It is the perfect blend of the natural world as it is, and the factual world encroaching on the natural world. It is not (as some may have feared) all doom and gloom, but rather, it is a thoughtful, and optimistic, look at the natural world of today, all over this planet. Due to the success of this series, and the encouraging/monitored response toward conservation efforts (as well as David Attenborough’s age — 93 —), there is already underway a new series entitled “Green Planet”. This alone would make any one who cherishes these magnificent series’ over-joyed. I know it does that for me, as well as feeling good after watching this series, which is a must see.

Fear the Walking Dead (2015) S4 E16
magically_delicious 1 points 5 years ago.

I am sad to say I found this episode to be the worst of any episode in this series. For me, it was frustrating, incongruent and there were too many continuity errors to count. That said, I am a fan of this series, and I will continue to watch. I simply found this episode to be lazy writing, sadly. Thanks a million for the uplinks. :)

Man vs. Bear (2019) S1 E4
magically_delicious 1 points 4 years ago*.

Let’s be ACCURATE; Casey Anderson is a Hollywood animal stunt coordinator, specifically NOT a bear biologist. He has a minor in wildlife biology; bears are a specialty.

I am aghast that this show is continuing. It’s disgusting.

Man Vs. Bear? Really?

Let the bear go and see how long these super “juiced” folks fare, eh?

minus five stars for being beyond disgusting.

Lost in the Wild (2019) S1 E7
magically_delicious 1 points 4 years ago*.

These episodes are getting ever more ambiguous and meandering. Nothing is revealed on their travels, and supposed discoveries/clues are left behind. Rather than investigate (supposed) first-hand phenomena, they run away. The final assessment of the last 3 episodes on the final summation has been… nothing. Nothing is learned, nothing is exposed and nothing is what the viewer is left with. After an adequate start, this series has digressed beyond redemption.

Kings of Pain (2019)
magically_delicious 2 points 4 years ago*.

What a fun and amazing series this is. However, it’s in no way original. Coyote Peterson had a web only series for Discovery Channel entitled “Brave Wilderness” which was based on Justin Orvel Schmid’s sting pain index (and book Insect Defenses: Adaptive Mechanisms and Strategies of Prey and Predators). I love seeing this subject matter again. Check out Youtube for Coyote Peterson videos on the same subject!

magically_delicious 1 points 4 years ago.

After watching this series, I have to say that I really don’t care for these two presenters, especially “Caveman”. His yells, screams and sideways “Fuck You” glances after he’s been bitten are like nails on a chalkboard and do nothing to enhance the experience for the viewer. I’d recommend episodes of Brave Wilderness over this series, definitely.

Servant (2019) S1 E7
magically_delicious 1 points 4 years ago.

This episode has picked up the implied horror momentum and has given this viewer the impetus to stay with the show at least for the next episode. Rupert Grint is well-utilised, demonstrating that he can act beyond his Harry Potter persona of “Ron Weasley”. I’m excited for the next episode!

Rocco (2016)
magically_delicious 1 points 4 years ago.

I’m not certain why this was made. It is an Italian “exposé”, presumably on the Italian (and Eastern European) porn industry and most specifically, Rocco Siffredi. I found it incredibly sedate and yawn worthy. There is no exposé, in my opinion. It is purely an opinion piece/intentional character study. It was long, and boring. “A Serbian Film” which has notoriety for extreme violence and gore is actually much better… if you want that kind of shock cinema in your life. Anyhow, this is passable, by a long shot. It’s not worth subjecting the viewer to this narcissistic drivel. The aforementioned is BRUTAL, intentionally so. I don’t like it, but it does what it does well.

Evil Lives Here (2016) S7 E6
magically_delicious 1 points 4 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

The last 3 episodes this season have consisted largely of narrative, subjective overall stories and recollections with little to no police evidence, interrogations, trial transcripts or pictures. This episode, for example, is tedious due to the emotion-driven, though detached, memories from the mother of William Patrick Anderson who murdered his 17 year old girlfriend in 1992 when he feared she would reveal that he had stolen her grandfather’s credit card and accumulated $8,000 in charges, YET, this is not revealed until last minutes of the episode. In the meantime, Joyce Alexander, tenatively wades through a tedious combination of feelings and memories of her son. This episode, like most of this season, is not a good example of why this series has made it 7 seasons. Prior to this season, episodes were well constructed, peppering actual evidence with relevant recollections and memories, but never solely relying on a subjective view of the case. I hope that future episodes revert to the former formula for delivering a coherent and informative watch for the viewer.

Expedition Bigfoot (2019) S1 E7
magically_delicious 1 points 4 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

Well, that’s all a bunch of random, forced conclusions. Bright lights/orbs are now Bigfoot? A cattle skull at the bottom of a pond is Bigfoot? Birdsong is Bigfoot (by the way, the Nightingale has an incredible range with its nighttime shrill sounds/song)? A children’s cemetery is Bigfoot? I’m actually laughing at the absurd and desperate and silly theories presented. Truly, their writing staff needs to up their game. Obviously, if there is a cemetery in this supposed “remote” location (complete with headstones), it’s not at all remote and off the beaten path. Someone’s having a laugh!

Sybil (1976) S1 E1
RoboPhone 3 points 4 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

Sally Field was at her dramatic best in this feature.

Having Joanne Woodward co-star was a brilliant homage as she previously starred in the acclaimed 1957 film classic The Three Faces of Eve, also about a woman suffering from Multiple Personality Disorder.

magically_delicious 1 points 4 years ago*.

Hi Robo, whilst you are correct it was originally a 1 part movie at 3 hours and 18 minutes, the two presented linksare the movie in its entirety. They are not two separate links to the same movie in full. Both links need to be watched to get the full story.

Therefore, S1 E1 is the first part of the three hour film (at 1:36.14) and S1 E2 is the continuation/conclusion of the entire film (at 1:30.52).

As always, thank you for your work on the site.

Looking for Mike (2016)
magically_delicious 1 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

The moral of this documentary is how easy it would be to change your identity in the United States. The film maker was deeply affected by learning his friend was not who he thought he was, but the “digging deeper” is very anti-climatic, almost like a firework that has no pizzazz or sparkle.

Destination Wedding (2018)
magically_delicious 1 points 4 years ago.

This Rom/Com should rightfully be rated “Unbearable” UNLESS you are a hardcore Keanu Reeves/Winona Ryder fan. It’s is predictably embarrassing and formulaic… but oddly, like watching a train wreck in holding a viewers attention if they meet the criteria.

A Very Yorkshire Brothel (2019)
magically_delicious 1 points 4 years ago.

A depressing look at the British prostitution industry. I have to say, they quote red heads being natural and big girls being rare, when it’s obvious that under size 18 is rare (here) and red is so vibrant it’s about as natural as my pink, turquoise and purple hair. I’ve no issue with the legalisation of prostitution. It’s something people do anyways, and health checks and certificates of standard would be beneficial. This is small beer. I’m just (sorry to all those that are going to complain) gob smacked at how ALL the women are LARGE. Like saying you’ve got EE breasts, but you’re a size 24 is just… well… gosh… desperate. Ok. Live and let live.

The War of the Worlds (2019) S1 E2
magically_delicious 0 points 4 years ago.

This mini series started out as being authentic and true to the time period from which the original namesake was written. However, it quickly digressed into a nonsensical, flashback and disjointed melodramatic jumble. It was difficult to connect to any of the characters and hold them in any esteem but apathy as no relationship was established primarily due to the poor adaptation and direction of the actors. The aliens were poorly represented and thus this production is one of the worst that the BBC has ever promoted.

Escape from Pretoria (2020)
Expedition X (2020) S1 E6
magically_delicious 0 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Sigh Every episode has been the same wild goose chase, thus far. It seems that they’re using Josh’s name to promote this series, as he is only in the beginning introduction. The assignments are the most staged I’ve ever seen associated with his name. The multiple cut-aways during any “unexplained” event really announce the staged factor, and are very intrusive and counterproductive to the time a viewer has spent already suspending their disbelief. After 6 episodes, I can genuinely say this series “Expedition X” is largely boring, overly dramatic, and anti-climatic.

Dian Fossey: Secrets in the Mist (2017) S1 E1
magically_delicious 0 points 4 years ago*.

This is an amazing telling of the iconic gorilla researcher and friend, Dian Fossey. The actual footage and narration from Dian’s own notes (via Sigourney Weaver) is nothing short of spectacularly engaging. Although her murder was attributed to Wayne McGuire, there still remains speculation that he may not have been the one responsible for it. Although I am only on the first episode, it is peppered with interviews with her colleges and supporters as well as actual videos, photographs, journal entries and various hypothesis about the murder. I would highly recommend this series to anyone.

Midsommar (2019)
magically_delicious 0 points 4 years ago*.

“What has been seen cannot be unseen.” This film uses shock tactics, rather than suspense, thrills, or scares. I was not frightened, I was disgusted. The intentionally dissociative and hokey beginning worked very well, when the outrageous shock tactics began they were tolerable, by the third act, they were offensive and unnecessary. To me, this is lazy story telling. There’s no real story here for me. It stayed with me in a very negative way. If you want a shock jock film, this one is it, otherwise, it has little to offer after the 2nd act.

Alaska PD (2020) S1 E7
magically_delicious 0 points 4 years ago.

I really enjoyed this episode, it is a good example of how this show has a lot of depth. It demonstrates how humane the police are in this part of the country, and it always provides bits of information on Alaska itself. For instance, in the last 10 years, 5 million acres have burned in Alaska as it is heating up twice as fast as the rest of the country. 5 million acres in larger than the state of Massachusetts. It’s mind boggling.

Web of Lies (2014) S4 E1

This story of an online serial rapist is horrifying. Honestly, the internet and internet dating has become like shooting fish in a barrel for these types of sociopaths. This is truly terrifying!

True Life Crime (2020) S1 E1
magically_delicious 0 points 4 years ago.

First off, why did an admittedly unused kitchen of a multimillion dollar hotel have a “working”, walk in freezer than was not (at the very least) padlocked and the kitchen itself alarmed and locked? That’s incredibly irresponsible, and 100% criminal in violating safety codes. As for the allegations that was [intentional] murder, that remains to be proven. It is a tragedy that this was so incredibly preventable. Irrespective of the fact that no amount of money will bring this girl back, her family should be awarded a substantial amount of money for the neglectful business behaviour of the hotel. It doesn’t matter whether she was drunk or not, what matters is that she easily gained access to that area at all (health and safety violations are abundant in this regard).

Lost in the Wild (2019)
magically_delicious 0 points 4 years ago*.

The set-up and delivery of this show, “Lost in the Wild”, is a hybridisation of “Dateline” meets “Operation BigFoot”. It projects the supernatural into established cases of disappearances (humans traveling to remote places for various reasons) located in geographically inaccessible, and inhospitable, locations around the globe. It has the mystery essence as a home-court advantage, but the the overbearing sensationalistic score and filming are not a credit (at least as far as the first 2 episodes are concerned). I definitely enjoy these type of shows for what they are. This one is on the more interesting side of things, but they still are serving way too much gobbledygook in proportion to their “meat”/material for the individual episodes to be much in terms of a satisfying watch. I will continue watching in the hopes they will serve more substantial, and meatier, episodes in the future.

Lost in the Wild (2019) S1 E5
magically_delicious 0 points 4 years ago*.

This episode is intriguing from the standpoint of the historical significance of the Galapagos. Floreana truly was (and still is) the perfect place to get away with murder. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to live in such remote and inhospitable circumstances. The phrase “survival of the fittest” wasn’t coined there for nothing.

The Invisible Man (2020)
The Grudge (2020)
magically_delicious -1 points 4 years ago*.

The persistent, obnoxious, cacophony that attempts to pass jump scares seals the fate for this re-make of “Ju-On”. This film is an insult to horror fans everywhere. The sheer, ear drum piercing volume for the soundtrack is reminiscent of a toddler banging on a piano during a temper-tantrum. The acting relied solely on the soundtrack, so there’s is not much to say there other than it was pretty forced. This film was an absolute chore to watch. I wouldn’t even recommend it as background noise whilst doing the dishes.

Better Call Saul (2015) S1 E8

The first one was so much better than this one. It’s a pity. They should’ve kept it simple, but they’ve overcomplicated and burdened this film with a lot of meaningless and boring love scenes. Thank you for the links uplinkers and uploaders.

Manson: Music from an Unsound Mind (2019)
magically_delicious 1 points 4 years ago.

“Manson: Music From an Unsound Mind” is a fresher/different Biographic perspective of Charles Manson, as well as of his connection to Dennis Wilson (The Beach Boys). The recordings and interviews in this film are not ones that I have seen before, so they add something to the history, horror and never answered questions of the Manson “phenomena”. The production value on this piece is very high so the 104 minutes go very quickly.

Adam (2020)
magically_delicious 1 points 4 years ago*.

Aaron Paul really shows he can act… well that he can “be” the non-fiction incantation of Adam Niskar. Being a quadriplegic cannot be easy, portraying the actual events of what led to the quadriplegia even more difficult. Aaron Paul does an excellent job on an otherwise overdone subject. Highly recommended IF you want a true story without all the heroes. 3.5/5

The evidence in this case is absolutely non-existent. This murder looks like they just need to blame someone and the so they picked Qunitin. The whole story is convoluted and filled with racism and prejudice from every side. What a tragic story. Thank you for sharing the links, uplinkers.

The trilogy is by John Christopher. I don’t think they got to season 3 (or book 3) with this series though.

The Golden State Killer: It's Not Over (2018)
magically_delicious 1 points 4 years ago.

For “true crime” fans, this limited series is well organised and interesting. The narration isn’t overdone(or more importantly, obnoxious), and the evidence/survivor/witness accounts are interspersed at a satisfactory levels. I enjoyed the first 3 episodes much more than the closing episode, as I felt some of the conclusions to be more sensationalist than factual and the episode seemed to wane because of it. This rapist/murderer will probably never be caught, but the series is one of the more watchable out there.

The Purge (2018) S1 E5

After 5 episodes I feel absolutely no connection to any of the main characters. I actually don’t care what happens to them. At the first episode I was hoping they would bring something new to the table, and they sort of did, but they have failed to make me care about the characters. I probably won’t watch another episode. In Search Of (2018)

Zachary Quinto played the young Spock in the Star Trek reboot, and is utilising his “claim to fame” with the Spock-like neutral voice of reason in this series which is also a lovely nod to the original host, Leonard Nimoy. After having watched 19 shows I can honestly say I really enjoy this show. I find Zachary Quinto has an incredibly soothing voice and is easy to watch. The subject matters are getting a little more diverse as well. I only wish the episodes were longer and that it had less “insert commercial here” repetition, but this is definitely one of my personal favourites now. Thanks a million for having the links here uplinkers.

Hunting Emma (2018)
magically_delicious 3 points 5 years ago.

This film ROCKS! I loved it on all levels. It has a really interesting storyline that has an excellent and fast pace, thorough background, and characters that draw you in. The characters has depth, which is something really lacking in most films today. This is a brilliant film for a strong, yet feminine, female lead; she does not need to become a man and fight a man’s fight to show her strength. It is in Afrikaans, but this language is incredibly similar in sound to Dutch, and German, and many times the words are similar to English. It is an easy film to follow if you need the subtitles, which are done in an excellent translation as well. Emma kicks arse!! I am so pleased to see the links here so I thank you uplinkers/uploaders. :)

The Disappearance of Crystal Rogers (2018)

In my opinion, the most interesting this about this series is the cover art and the first 5-10 minutes of the show. It is a poorly executed show full of yawn material. The investigators themselves don’t seem very interested in the case and it goes spirals from there. Thanks a million for the uplinks, uplinkers and uploaders.

The Disappearance of Crystal Rogers (2018) S1 E5
magically_delicious 1 points 5 years ago.

This is the 5th out of 6 episodes for this disappearance/crime. I’m sorry to say, this series is just repetitive nonsense. The show has been repeating hearsay from the very first episode and then having random calls with people who say that have information, but are like listening to someone give a report on cardboard boxes from the inside of tin can. I’m really grateful to have this episode here, so I thank the uplinkers and uploaders for sharing.
