Finding You (2021)

Classic Vanessa Redgrave acting. She nailed the cranky, bitter, battleaxe, old lady perfectly. Expect nothing less from a seasoned actress. I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic film. The Irish countryside is gorgeous. The fiddle, ahem, violin, playing was phenomenal and entertaining. And the entire cast had so much chemisty and ease with each other.

James Denton and Teri Hatcher together, again. I haven’t seen them as a screen couple since Desperate Housewives. And the plot was very similar to ‘It’s a Wonderful life’. But instead of an angel, it was Santa. I enjoyed it. Worth watching more than once.

Respect (2021)

No one does Aretha better than, Aretha. Jennifer Hudson, did a phenomenal job with the singing, but the acting…was not her best.

The biopic felt ‘rushed’. No heart or soul was fully put into this film. Sure, I enjoyed the songs…After all it was ‘RE-RE’. Would love to see the directors cut(full version). I bet there’s more depth within the scenes that made the cutting room floor.

Fallon, how I love thee. Will you be in coma for entire season? It’s definitely legal contract time on set. Every time a celebrity’s contract is up and they are in Hot-discussion’s with the High Brass, they end up in a hospital bed. It’s a Soapy Tradition. Doesn’t matter if it’s Daytime or Primetime. Watch your back Adam. And Crystal, you better be watching your 6, too. Berto is coming after you. I smell a ‘Crystal Trap’ changling headed Blake’s way.

I couldn’t make it through the first 10 minutes of this toon. Another Disney Dud.

Dynasty (2017) S4 E22

What a bang of a cliffhanger! Who got shot, and, who shot the gun were immediately answered in the last 10 seconds of the show! But wait…could there be more than 1 shooter? Anyone else get shot? Could all shooter’s guns have gone off simultaneously? And what really happened at Alexis’ penthouse? Tune in next year for season 5 to find out. I can’t wait to see what the writing team has in store for next season. I bet it’ll be quite explosive.

This episode has made me never want to live in a garden(multi-story/high rise) apartment complex EVER! The creepers that peeptom between the walls?

Well, this ending to this episode was a flaming blast. Must have a MOLE that’s been ‘flipped’ from the Base itself? Wonder who, hmmmmm?????

Cinderella (2021)
moongoddess 0 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Brilliant modern adaptation to a beloved fairy tale. I have enjoyed every adaptation of Cinderella ever produced. Including the film era(circa 1899 by George Meiles), The short silent film in 1911, Disney’s 2 versions:1922 seven minute laugh o gram which was reimagined and turned into the Disney 1950 classic most people know today. And there are countless more adaptations, with variations in Titles.

My eldest daughter’s favorite happens to be the 1997 remake with Brandy and Bernadette Peters, Whitney Houston, Whoopie Goldberg, and, Jason Alexander. Which if you paid close attention to the town/commoners town square set, It’s practically the same set where we see Jason Alexander belting out the town’s Castle proclamations from the 1997 version. Albeit, with a little refabricated/altered set design and props. I think the Castle interior and exterior also were similar to, if not exactly the same, as the 1997 version.

I will never tire of watching any adaptation, be it from Hollywood, Bollywood, college theater groups, high schools, elementary students, local theater troupes, Broadway, Off Broadway. This was perfectly enjoyable. Great music score, and great chemistry between the actors and actresses.

My Christmas Family Tree (2021)

This 1 was a gas. I couldn’t stop laughing, and, crying. The funniest bit was about Frankenstein and Myrrh. LMAO. And for you young whippersnappers, the phrase, ‘it was a gas’ is an old 1960s phrase meaning something is funny. I enjoyed yet another Hallmark Holiday Movie.

ROFL…I bet that fall hurt. Wonder if she did it herself or her stunt double did it? And glad they finally wrapped up Alexis’ jail time and won’t be dragging that plot twist on. Glad to have Dynasty back weekly. Was a long wait since Christmas.

West Side Story (2021)
SpecialEFX 0 points 2 years ago*.

Ending was a little vague. Since she is last one holding the gun does Rita Velveeta end up arrested and sent to Rikers Island? I hope there’s a sequel.

moongoddess 0 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Perhaps watching the 1961 original will help. Rita Moreno’s character in this 2021 version, Valentina, was written in by Spielberg as an honorary added cameo-character because Rita Moreno portrayed Anita in the Original musical. In the original adaptation, there are no parents(or grandparents/aunts/uncles) present in it at all. Also in the original, Rita was the only actress to sing the songs, while all other characters were dubbed with other singers voices. This 2021 ending is not quite exactly how the original version ends. If you want to watch that version check it out here. I’m sure you can search and find a streaming service or other website to watch it:

What a great start to the season in Hope Valley. Wonder what secret that new arrival in town has that will shake the town up? And that very last scene? Ouch, that’s gonna hurt.

I was joking! Apparently someone doesn’t understand sarcasm. lol Sorry to catch you off guard. I as well am very familiar with both versions and their back stories. Regardless, thank you for that thoughtfully well-written synopsis and movie history!

moongoddess 0 points 2 years ago.

LOL. It was pretty late and I was tired when writing that. I guess my brain was too sleepy to catch your snarcasm. I was debating to wait till the next day after sleep. But decided to write it up and get ‘er dun. LOL.

Every Episode…never fails. Tears, tears, and more tears. Especially when the topic(Dementia) hits close to home. I cannot fathom having that conversation with my own kids. Hope I never have to.

I hope to see her dad in a couple of eps too.

In theory, they will likely do ‘flashbacks’, cause..recall, he and Elijah killed each other at the end of The Originals. Perhaps, she can do a witch seance to bring forth his spirit and guidance.

Dickinson (2019) S3 E3

Another wild episode. Emily is starting to really lose her self with this idealism that her dad has forgiven her brother. So naive.

And enter, SoJourner Truth. But wait, Betty being the biographer? Doesn’t add up. Unless, Betty used a pen name. According to the historical biographical information on Isabella Baumfree, her first biographer was her friend, Olive Gilbert. Book published by William Lloyd Garrison. Isabella Baumfree was Sojourner’s birth name. She took the name Sojourner in her adult years. If you want to know more about Sojourner, research her.

Anyone else become a blubbering, crying, mess while watching this? Especially the Memorial segment. I didn’t realized this fill lost so many these last 20 years. I have seen the movies many times, each. But have yet to read the books. Definitely going to read the books this year(2022) before rewatching the movies. This was a fantastic reunion.

LMAO. really enjoyed this episode. The metaphor’s and ancient lingo was spot on with the comedic timing. So far the best episode. Warning, grab protection, you’re gonna need it by the end of the show(LOL).

The Resident (2018) S5 E11

I’m a blubbering mess after watching this emotional, loving, touching episode. Every subplot filled with fear of the unknown, unconditional love, unconditional care, and unconditional support. It’s a 2000 box kleenex rating. Maybe an entire 18 wheeler trailer full of kleenex rating?

One Last Time: An Evening with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga (TV Special 2021) (2021)
moongoddess -1 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Get your stock of kleenex out. I loved this epic swansong for Tony Bennett. 95 years old. Sad, he has Dementia/Alzheimers. I grew uplistening to his music, watching his programs, and, other entertaining programs he was featured on. My parents played records of his. I listened to his crooning on the radio. And as I got older and gravitated to the music online, I periodically put his ditties on for an afternoon.

An article in AARP magazine, and many other websites, print mags, e-mags, etc., picked up on his interview he did last year when he announced he had Dementia/Alzheimers. He has trouble remembering lyrics to some songs. That’s what the disease does, it robs the brain of complete cognizance and recall. Grateful he still has some cognizant and recall ability. Albeit I’m assuming he had an earpiece with a person feeding him the words to the lyrics of the songs. HE DID FANTASTIC!!!

His health has deteriorated. Very telling as he was holding onto the piano. And at the end of the program was escorted off stage by Lady Gaga. His swagger has slowed significantly, as you will/did see as they walked super slow off the stage, he’d stop, turn, and give a wave/bow to the adoring family, fans, guests, celebrities, and musician celebrities in the audience.

What a wonderful way to officially ‘retire’(though he’d retired a while ago) and be honored by peers, family, fans.
