I did not like the ending to this. It sucked.

I never saw the movie, so I don’t know about it being cut up. The first episode is sort of stupid, but it starts getting good in the second episode. I like Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, and some of the characters are interesting, so I’m going to continue watching it.
This will be my new watch, because I love NCIS and I love Australian TV, so let’s get to it!
I’m really into historic houses in the South and Louisiana is one of my favorite states. This house would be my dream house, honestly. I love what they did with it, and how they kept it true to its original charm.
AYFKM?? What a horrible way for this season to end! AAAAGH!!!! i HATE CLIFFHANGERS!!!
This was a weird episode. I like Luke’s story, but Lomax’s was too off the wall, and had no closure. What happened after they came out of the possession? Enquiring minds want to know! I was wondering when they were going to realize something was wrong with Susan and do something about it. Can’t wait until next week!
Well poop. I thought it would last.
We should all write in asking them to continue it. I bet a lot of people already have.
It was only intended to be a limited series and they covered everything in the book. That said, the show was popular and the showrunners have said that if presented with the opportunity and the right material they would love to do more of it.
I certainly hope they do, because it was the one show that I was waiting for in anticipation every week. I have a feeling they will, but they have to work out a deal with the original author to use their characters.
If you haven’t watched this show, put it on your list. It’s so insightful and meaningful. I don’t usually watch mini-series, but this was well worth it. I found myself hardly being able to wait for the next episode. Love the beginning, the middle and the ending.
I’m tired of Kim’s “poor pitiful me, I’m so unappreciated” whining. Also sick of this messed up family blaming everything on Olivia. They are cultish in that regard, and Olivia is the “other.” Ethan is definitely an extreme conservative. I feel sorry for all the kids because they have been so indoctrinated into this ultra-conservative cult-like family that they can’t break free. Let him go, Olivia. Go be happy elsewhere. He’s never going to grow up.
Too bad this show was cancelled after one season. I would have loved to see how he handled things going forward. At least they gave it a good ending.
Me either. Sir really thinks she belongs to him, no matter which of them is “in charge”. Strange stuff.
Very curious direction the show’s going in. Sir apparently remained quiet as a mouse all night while Gabi’s visitor was right upstairs. He could have easily started yelling for help, blowing the whole arrangement wide open. I’m guessing Sir likes his captivity in a perverse way.
Well, he DID kind of like it, until Gabi’s man-friend stayed for a sleepover. Now, all bets are off. Where did Sir go…? Not far, I’m guessing. Certainly not to the cops. Anybody remember “The Night Porter” from way, way back? Yeah, I’m tasting a dash of that….
It is definitely taking a sharp turn in the storyline. I can’t wait to see the rest of it.
This is a good show, and they pack a lot into each episode. Always liked Allen Leech, ever since his Downton Abbey days, and he does a good job with this.
This is gonna be GOOOOD!!! When you watch the EP1, watch to the very end for the surprise.
I seriously don’t see why Micah could not have taken 10 minutes of his time to have a serious talk with Olivia. Moriah needs to apologize to both of them for starting all this shit with lies. I don’t like Moriah, and I wish she would dress more appropriately. With all the bleached hair, makeup and somewhat sleazy clothes, I think she’s headed for a big fall, because we all know what men actually think of women who look like that.
This is good. A little confusing sometimes, with the double story line, but still interesting. I’m just wondering why she didn’t take pictures in Bill’s room? That would have been my first thought. Maybe she didn’t want anyone to see the flash?
and there’s something about the lead actor - so charismatic
Yep, and I wonder if that’s really him singing? I’ve looked at his lips and don’t see any signs of lip syncing. ETA: Yes, it IS him singing! He actually won the X-factor when he was younger.
!
For God’s sake, Moriah! You were WRONG! Nobody tried to steal your music and you have admitted you overreacted. If you don’t learn to resolve conflict, you’re going to be in a world of hurt in your life. Talk about narcissistic….Moriah will NEVER admit that she is wrong, which is the #1 sign of a disturbed mind — everything is someone else’s fault. RUN OLIVIA!! Run as far and fast as you can. I like Ethan, but he’s very controlling and immature and that family is messed up.
i like Amber! she speaks her mind. and they are low key afraid of her
I like her too. She has the most common sense of any of the other older kids, I think.
Watched it the first time around, just binged a couple months ago. If you’re into angels and demons I think it’s a really good watch - give it a try
Thanks. I watched a few of the trailers and clips on YT, and it’s sort of like a story of two battling brothers — a true good vs. evil tale. I like those.
Nice ending, but we all know that promise never came to be. Thus, why the British people are called Anglo-Saxons, or at least the caucasians are.
From this ending, I assume there is going to be a Season 2. I’ve had enough fighting and bloodshed. I won’t be watching.
I liked this show, and short web series in general. Hope it continues.
This is a true story of something that happened in a city where I lived for 14 years. I left because the government, and especially the Police, were so corrupt. There were some strange things going on there, still are, and this is just one example. People who escape this city, never come back, and that’s the truth. I’m not going to watch this, because it will bring back nightmares of my time there. Just wanted to give it some relevant background.
So far, so good on Season 8. Tosh and Steven are still wonderful and Calder is interesting. Looking forward to finding out exactly why she hates Shetland so much. I miss Perez, but I think this season is going to be o.k.
More sensationalism, bickering and general conflict between two new people and the group who want them to leave. Free PR is bad PR, This group should be smart enough to know this.
From what I’ve seen, they definitely aren’t the brightest bulbs on the tree.
Intentional communities have existed since 1500 BC. Some are religious based, some counterculture. The sensationalism of this video reminds me of overdramatazation that one finds in reality tv. If this group wanted a neutral documentary of their commune and intentions, this is not it. It is poorly done, Too much personal video of a few people with their conflicts with new people. This should have had a narrator along with every permanent member saying a bit of why they are there and what they do. It is ironic that this community got so much media attention. Not far away an self sustaining community existed since 1971 complete with their own school, band, vegie dairy and medical center. Look up “Steve Gaskin`s Farm”. Only after the founder died in 2014 did the community eventually change. However parts of it still exist today. It did not turn to media for attention, and did just fine. Also in the episode The Rainbow family was mention, but only in reference about one of the current members of this new community. The crime that is brought up in this episode refers to a crime committed in 2020. It was about a double murder of two women traveling to one of the annual Rainbow gatherings. Hitching rides can be dangerous no matter where one is going. To blame a group for this crime makes as much sense as blaming a Rock group for a murder that happened on the way to their concert. As I said, this documentary is poorly done and I think it will harm this group more then give it the positive notice it wants. Proving my point are the comments that have already been made here. Allowing this doc to be made without any editing rights is probably the worse thing this group did. The way it is presented, it will just feed the masses tendency to draw extreme opinions based on nothing but misinformation and drama.
The founder of the group was born and raised in the Rainbow Family. I don’t know why they left the old space, but I know it says several “Garden” groups have been set up across the country. This sort of smacks of the Rainbow Family under a different name.
I don’t know about murders, but the Rainbow Family camped in the Ocala National Forest near me once and completely trashed it. They left uncovered feces all over the place, tons of garbage and even abandoned tents. It cost Florida 10s of thousands to clean it all up. Now, to prevent large groups from camping there again, they’ve shrunk the available camping space to almost nothing and are giving out tickets for not removing your trash or using catholes for toilets. It used to be a great place where you could just drive around and find a remote, hidden place to camp and be all by yourself, but now, all campers are crammed together in small spaces.
This is a pretty cute show. Not complicated, not violent, just something to while away the time, relaxing.
I’m all caught up now. I had to do some research to figure out who that woman was at the end, but now I know. That’s going to be an interesting story line for season 3.
I thought this was a movie but looks like it is a series. I love any kind of movie or tv series about WWII. I didn’t get much out of the trailer because there is no dialogue, just music. Putting on my list to watch in November and you can’t go wrong with Hugh Laurie and Mark Ruffalo.
I got dialogue, but there is a narrator describing it like it’s a radio show. Does the narration continue in each episode? If so, it would drive me crazy.
This is getting really interesting now. The whole smart home turned evil is surely a warning about the dangers of AI. I lost my job to AI shortly after ChatGPT came out. I can’t wait to see how this ends, and how they find out she was “absorbed” by the house.
I love Jesse L. Martin. I’ll check it out. Yeah, it has Mentalist vibes, but a different personality.
This kinda reminds me of the British show Unforgotten. I might watch the 1st episode.
Just watched the trailer, but yeah, Unforgotten with a psychopath who has a man chained in her basement. I’m gonna give it a try.
Is anybody else watching this? It’s a lot of fun. I’m enjoying it. It’s spooky with a lot of personal drama too.
That’s pretty much every cult, ever.
True. The fact that they’re trying to have multiple campgrounds in multiple states is so cultish and so “Rainbow People” like that I’m seriously questioning their motives. The founder is definitely cognitive of just what he’s doing, and just like any cult leader, he expresses what he wants and lets everyone else do it for him, so he has no accountability.
These people are scary to me. I’m all for intentional communities, but I’m trying to figure out what the true intention of this one is. I mean, they already said they want to burn everything down and take over the world. That’s enough to put them on the FBI’s watch list, right there.
Same. As played by Douglas Henshall, Jimmy Perez has a difficult pair of shoes to fill I think, but I’m certainly willing to watch them try.
Same. I can give it a shot, and maybe I’ll like it. I know sometimes with other shows, the main character left, but the new character turned out to be really good. I just don’t want ALL the old characters to be gone. That would be a no-go for me.
Why can’t Ethan just tell Micah and Moriah that what Olivia said was true, and their mother did what Olivia said Kim did? That would solve the entire thing! Ethan calling Olivia’s feelings stupid did it for me. He already proved he doesn’t give a shit about her feelings with the wheelie stuff. I’m glad they’ve split up. Ethan needs to grow up a lot more before he has a wife and family. Not saying Olivia is totally in the clear, but she is trying to communicate her feelings, and he just won’t accept them.
IMHO, this is a group of mentally ill people who cannot handle the real world because they are too paranoid and delusional. If these are the people who are going to save the world, we’re doomed.
How did I miss that this was back on? Now I have to binge watch to catch up! Love this show.
What the hell was that? I’ve never seen anything this stupid. They need to get new writers.
This show is my new addiction. I fell in love at “Children set the table. Your mother needs a moment for herself.”
This is the worst adaptation to date.
Agree. It makes no sense at all. And I don’t like this Guinevere either. She’s too rough looking. I don’t know why I keep watching it. I probably won’t after this season, but I want to see how the season ends.
I DO NOT LIKE Lydia Grace. She’s a little troublemaker. She can’t even keep her own relationships together, so she has no right to tell Olivia what to do about her marriage. I felt so sorry for Barry, but he needs to get some friends so he has someone to spend special times with. Maybe he should start going to church and get involved with something other than work and the kids. He’s the loneliest man, and it doesn’t have to be this way. Looks like Kim is going to have a problem with telling the kids about Ken. Next week should be interesting.
Yep. Everyone in this show takes the wrong path, it seems. No sense at all.
And Arthur! He puts the “dumb” in Dumnonia, with all his lousy choices and decisions! Raises eyebrows and creates enemies everywhere. SMH at the way his bullheadedness is driving the ship of state right into the rocks here. And let’s not even mention the ghastly ætheling waiting in the wings…Arthur has been warned….
He thinks with his d**k instead of his brain. Plus, all you have to do is call him a bastard and he’s off the handle doing stupid shit. I don’t really like this version of Arthur. He’s supposed to be golden, not rusted iron.
I don’t pay any mind to the “fanboys”. Even with the stuff where I have read the source material, I expect there to be differences in the adaption from one medium to another and judge it solely based on it’s own merits.
Good plan. I just watch what I like and don’t watch what I don’t. My son told me I should watch this, so I’m going to. If Episode 1 is a preview of how it’s going to play out, I’m in! Moraine is badazz!!!! I like anybody who can throw a whole building at bad guys.
More times than not, I’m glad I didn’t read the books for fantasy series. I know TV shows don’t stay true to books, have learned that time and time again. I just started watching this, and I like this so far, and I’ll keep watching it. Sorry all of you who read the books think it sucks, but please don’t kill it for the rest of it.
Tyler needs to go. He is one fucked up, violent, authoritarian dude. Let him go off somewhere else and start his place. He is insidiously taking over, because Patrick doesn’t want to lead, so he’s letting him. If Tyler is allowed to take over, The Garden will be a cult. We’ll see what happens, but Tyler scares the hell out of me.
