Oldboy (2003)
JennyFromBlockD 2 points 4 years ago.

One of the most twistedly beautiful films I have ever seen.
If you have not seen this; I highly recommend it, and not the bastardized Spike Lee version.
Everything about this film is truly spectacular, and it is all highlighted by probably the most amazing unique beautiful soundtrack ever composed for a film.

10/10 stars. Probably the best movie I have ever seen.

The Umbrella Academy (2019) S1 E1

Loved this. Feels like what I wanted Misfits Season 3 to be.
10/10 stars

Joker (2019)
JennyFromBlockD 1 points 4 years ago.

Bar none: one of the most overrated movies of the decade; if not of all time.
I saw this in theaters, and was unfortunately greatly disappointed.

Forget the fact that this is a superhero’s villain’s origin story.
Realize it for what it really was: the story of one man’s descent into madness.

Now compare it to films that ACTUALLY fit its genre; not super hero films.
Movies like Taxi Driver, The Shining, Black Sawn, Jacob’s Ladder.
Now please tell me this film ranks up to films like THAT.

If you still tell me how its “so original & crazy” I will tell you how you are a liar.

The film lacked substance & depth and instead dwelt in a troubled man’s own infatuation with his own misery.
This was not the Joker by any stretch of the imagination.
Nicholson & Ledger & Hamil’s joker’s were literally JOKER. This was a pale shadow.

It almost seems like to me most people who say they loved this film only are doing so because they think that’s what they are supposed to say; like good little lemmings.
Rather ironic stating the nature of the film & the Joker in general.

Avengers: Endgame (2019)
JennyFromBlockD -2 points 4 years ago.

Definitely one of my least favorite films in the franchise.
The entire plot device in this film was utterly idiotic in the grand scheme of things; as their were much better ways of handling the ‘problem’.
Pretty much killed any future interest I had in any upcoming films; especially the ill fated Black Widow movie.
I feel like after BW bombs; if one more Marvel film does the same in the next couple years it’ll kill off the entire franchise.
4/10 stars for this film; 7/10 stars for the franchise as a whole.

The Mandalorian (2019)
JennyFromBlockD -4 points 4 years ago.

It started off promising but at this point I simply couldn’t care less.
Maybe it was Rise of Skywalker that left a bad taste in my mouth; but I gave up after episode 5.

Knives Out (2019)
JennyFromBlockD 2 points 4 years ago.

To each their own, this wasn’t for me I guess.
I’ve tried watching it two times now; and I fell asleep both times.
I’ve heard it described as a modern day clue; then everyone proclaims its wonder…. and I can’t help now but think: do they remember how bad the original clue was? And it was 10x better than this if you ask me…

Again, to each their own; but this was a HUGE miss for me
2/10 stars

The Cave (2005)
JennyFromBlockD 1 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I thought this was fantastic.
It got totally panned by Rotten Tomatoes with a 12%…meanwhile the nearly identical in premise film: The Descent gets a whopping 85%.
Descent which often features complete blackness where you often can’t see what’s happening, actresses who are so talented you’ve never seen them in anything else, “caves” which overall look like the same few tunnels over & over, & creatures that are clearly just humans in masks… compared to THIS masterpiece featuring Queen Cersei Lannister aka Lena Headey, Coyote Ugly’s Piper Perabo, discount Matthew mcconaughey aka Cole Hauser, Morris Chestnut, and other recognizable faces….it features TRULY unique creatures with a cool plotline surrounding where they came from & around the whole discovery of the cave in general; cave systems which all look completely unique from each other; and GOOD LIGHTING.

It completely baffles me how it is even possible that anyone could consider The Descent a better movie than The Cave; let alone consider The Cave a 12% & Descent a 85% (or even on IMDB its 5.1 vs like a 8)

But I digress.

If you havent seen this; go watch it now. If you liked The Descent, you should love this.

The Descent: Part 2 (2009)
JennyFromBlockD -4 points 4 years ago.

Just okay.
Certain parts were totally off putting; like the ridiculous blood spurts…multiple times into a open mouth… the type of crap found in bottom of the barrel grindhouse movies.
4/10 stars. Definitely the worst of the ‘lost in a cave’ movies.

Jeruzalem (2016)
JennyFromBlockD 1 points 4 years ago.

Personally, I loved this movie.
It wasn’t perfect; but what it tried to do it excelled at.
At first the found footage aspect, with the whole movie being recorded via Google Glass (or supposedly), was a little jarring. But its not shaky, and everything is just as good of quality as any bigger budget film. The CGI near the end was great.
The IMDB rating is ridiculously low. Its a solid 7.
7/10 stars

Kung Fu Hustle (2004)
Jhigh03 1 points 4 years ago.

That cover pic is one I’ve never seen for this flick before. gives the movie a real seripous vibe compared to the one released when this premiered.

JennyFromBlockD -1 points 4 years ago.

Same here. When I first saw it I thought I clicked on the wrong movie lol

Dolittle (2020)
JennyFromBlockD -2 points 4 years ago.

Sheesh. I thought I would enjoy this. Boy was I wrong.
Total miss for me. 4/10 stars.

Kung Fu Hustle (2004)
JennyFromBlockD 1 points 4 years ago.

This movie is one of my favorite movies of all time.
The humor & the action are absolutely one of a kind.

While not as good, the same creator made Shaolin Soccer & its definitely worth the watch if you haven’t seen it.

Silent Hill: Revelation (2012)
JennyFromBlockD -2 points 4 years ago.

Much better than the 5.0 IMDB rating would lead you to believe.
I’d say at least a solid 6.8. Not anything fantastic; but the CGI is great & atmosphere is very dark and creepy.

Claymore (2007)
JennyFromBlockD 0 points 4 years ago.

One of my absolute favorite anime of all time…if not simply my favorite.
It hits everything I love in anime: incredibly bad ass fight scenes; dark gritty atmosphere; really cool scifi/horror story; love me some swords; special powers, which progressively get stronger & more badass girls than you know what to do with.
It also has no problem pushing the envelope with gore & death. So many anime are afraid to kill off characters; or they do and they stupidly bring them back or some such. Not this one!
Truly amazing. Have seen it at least 4x all the way through; its that good.

Dragonheart Vengeance (2020)
JennyFromBlockD -1 points 4 years ago.

It was okay
Main actor reminded me from the kid from the Merlin TV Series.
Like a B Version of him :l The CGI was decent. Acting decent. Everything pretty good but just nothing better than ‘pretty good’
4/10 stars overall

Howl's Moving Castle (2004)
JennyFromBlockD 1 points 4 years ago.

One of the most beautiful fantasy movies I’ve ever seen.
makes me feel like a little girl again every time I watch it.

I truly LOVE this movie.
Have seen it at least 10x, & multiple times in my “kidulthood”

Truly recommended to ALL of you, even you karloff, no matter how old you are. THis is a movie for the young at heart.

Good grief. Truly spectacular. Disneys Robin Hood or Peter Pan type of Amazing…even more so.

Dragged Across Concrete (2019)
JennyFromBlockD 0 points 4 years ago.

Not anything great; but not bad.
Certainly was worth the watch.
6/10

True Romance (1993)

Classic.
Definitely that Tarantino vibe…cuz he wrote it :0

A Bittersweet Life (2005)
JennyFromBlockD 1 points 4 years ago.

Criminally underrated movie.
Amazing in all aspects.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019)
JennyFromBlockD -3 points 4 years ago.

To be perfectly honest… it is HEAVILY Overrated.
This is a 2 hour 40 minute movie; and at a minimum 1 hour & 20 minutes of it is utterly boring; which is really saying something for a QT movie.
The first few minutes were great; then about 50 minutes of pure boring drivel. Literal scenes of a movie within a movie that are just drags & drags. No humor; just lines.
Then it gets interesting…for about another 10 minutes. Then another 30 minutes of nonsense. Then about at the 1.45 hour mark it gets good & really never lets up from there. Leaves on a high note that holds for almost a hour so feels like you watched a GREAT Movie. No. I didnt forget about the first 60% of this movie I watched.
It was a solid 6/10. Absolutely no better.
Tarantinos Four Rooms, Res Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Natural Born Killers, & True Romance made these seem like the work of a amateur. Not the same man.
Good grief, django & unglorious too.
I mean hateful eight guess could be compared, with the slow buildup to the climax; but hateful eight had the trademark Tarantino dialogue.

Now I realize it. THATS what was missing. The crazy * QT dialog. Where was it?!

We know Pitt’s up for the craziness. Hell he was hilarious in one of his first roles in the True Romance. And Burn After Readings a great example hes down to clown.

It was like… my aunt cooks the most amazing sugar cream pie every holiday. Homemade recipe from her mother passed down. Like 3 pies made every year. Nothing goes home, 5+ other kinds of pie always ; with pieces left; people fighting over the SC. Then she gives the recipe to my other aunt. Its still great. But its just not the same flavor. Somethings missing.

Red Faction: Origins (2011)
JennyFromBlockD -1 points 4 years ago.

Not the greatest movie…but I thought it was pretty darn good for what it was.
If you like space movies; or have played the game: give it a shot

wth is this version of Aladdin

Paprika (2006)
JennyFromBlockD 1 points 4 years ago.

One of my favorite anime movies of all time…heck one of my favorite movies of all time. This was the source material for the movie Inception; despite Inceptions writer not giving any credit you can see its a blatant ripoff.

Highly recommend. 10/10 stars.

Shaft (2019)
JennyFromBlockD 0 points 4 years ago.

I surprisingly thought this was utterly hilarious.
The last Shaft was pretty dry; and pretty sub par overall.
So, I went into this not expecting much.
I laughed pretty much the entire time.
8/10 stars

Parasite (2019)
JennyFromBlockD -5 points 4 years ago.

Pretty interesting.
Basically about a family of con artists.
Wasn’t really my cup of tea; turned it off after about 40 minutes; I’ll watch the rest another day. I see others liking it a lot more than I did though.

Joker (2019)
JennyFromBlockD -2 points 4 years ago.

This movie…lets be real; its highly overrated.
Forget the fact that it is a Batman villain origin movie. Forget super hero films; compare it to actual films that fit its real genre & plot:
One Man’s descent into madness.
Similar films would be Taxi Driver, Fight Club, The Shining, etc.
Now compare it to a film like those…especially Taxi Driver…would you still say its so avante garde? So good?
Heck…its mediocre at absolute best; and if we are all honest with ourselves: quite boring.
5/10 stars

Joker (2019)
puffythebongslayer 8 points 4 years ago.

JennyFromBlockD -1 points 4 years ago.

No one walked out because of the violence.
They walked out because it was boring :l=

ERASED (2017)
JennyFromBlockD -1 points 4 years ago.

This anime was great. Dunno if the tv series will be good or not; will have to give it a shot.

B: The Beginning (2018)
JennyFromBlockD 2 points 4 years ago.

Pretty darn good. The action & plot lines were very good. Sort of a Darker than Black type of feel.
Not my favorite anime of all time by any means; but definitely worth the watch.
7/10 stars

The Domestics (2018)
JennyFromBlockD 3 points 4 years ago.

Criminally underrated on this site.
This was great.
Mad Max type film, and it was done VERY well.
Really nothing to complain about, being that it was done on a small budget; everything from the acting to the special effects to the plot lines were totally top notch.

If you like post apocalyptic type movies; you will love this.
10/10
