I can see that cancellation coming from a mile away! Personally, I didn’t like the change in character. IMO, Mackie just wasn’t up to it. I understand the plot premise but I’m way too much a Joel Kinnaman fan to be content with just one season of him in this role!

Foundation (2021)
grasshopper rex 2 points 2 years ago.

I highly recommend your abbreviated reading list in that exact order as the 2 prequels (Prelude to Foundation and Forward the Foundation) contain spoilers.

The Second Foundation trilogy (the books written by Benford,Bear and Brin) where very good, actually. All 3 are highly acclaimed authors within their own rights. But yeah, the writing styles of all 3 are different from each other and from Assimov’s so I would recommend reading them after Forward the Foundation if you are left wanting more (even though they fit in at various places during the original trilogy).

Researcher 3 points 2 years ago.

I appreciate your seconding sigh’s suggested reading order. Might look into that second trilogy once I’m done with the main items. Thanks.

Foundation (2021)
sigh 19 points 2 years ago.

If anyone wants to know, if you want to read all the books in galaxy chronological order, be warned prelude might have spoilers for the rest after! There can be 15 up to 26. Here’s the list I nerdily compiled:

·End of Eternity (Harlan’s timeline to colonization, optional)
·Complete Robot (anth incl. I, Robot so either is fine)
·Lucky Starr Series (6 books mentions laws of robotics, optional)
·Nemesis (optional)
·Caves of Steel
·Naked Sun
·Robots of Dawn
·Robots and Empire
·Stars, Like Dust (asimov goofed with the order in prelude)
·Currents of Space
·Pebble in the Sky
·Prelude to Foundation
·Forward the Foundation
·Foundation
·Foundation and Empire
·Second Foundation
·Foundation’s Edge
·Foundation and Earth
His friends then wrote with permission of family (not as good but fun)
·Foundations Fear
·Foundation and Chaos
·Foundations Triumph

New to it?
TO AVOID SPOILERS in order of reader discovery you can read the Foundation series:
~ The original Foundation Trilogy
~ Foundation’s Edge
~ Foundation and Earth
~ Prelude to Foundation
~ Forward the Foundation

Researcher 5 points 2 years ago.

Thanks for this list, sigh!
I just “acquired” 7 of the Foundation books on my Kindle…ready to go after I finish the Clive Barker I’m reading now. I used the wiki entry to set the order but after your recommendation as to the “reader discovery” order, I’m changing my reading order.

The Conners (2018) S4 E1
moongoddess 2 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

The phone in scenes i think were spot on when it comes to virtual live streaming. Ever watch a live stream of a book/movie panel or comiccon live stream with people not attending(tv show talk shows) the live event but are at home on screen? There is an absolute pause-delay in the stream flow. Kind of akin to the old TV bleeping of foul language back in the 1950s through current years. What viewers actually view is a feed that is 3 second-delayed from that which the producers/directors/video employees actually are viewing within real time clock seconds on set. Therefore, they had/have ability to BLEEP out the foul words before it reached the viewing audience at home. So phone in timing was not ‘off’, Imho.

I do agree with the ‘writing’ it was short of comical validity per the Connors actors’ chemistry with each other. Did they lose a showrunner writer, and not replace them yet?(rhetorical)… Time will only answer that question.

Researcher 1 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

You’ve got a point re 3-second time delay. But that’s not a new thing. I mean, shouldn’t there have been a pause to allow for the delay? Not pausing made it seem as if they were running over each other. Despite it being live, production should have worked that out.

The Conners (2018) S4 E1
Researcher 1 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Fail! But, more importantly: why?
Timing was off in the cell phone scenes.
For a comedy, the writing was abysmal.
…episode not befitting a season starter.

did i miss something? Who killed the swimming instructor? And how did she find out the truth behind the adopted kids?

Researcher 1 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

The guy that was arrested (Tim Trask, I think was his name) killed the instructor. Scooter Boy pointed him out on his “surveillance footage.” The dead couple were the Becketts, son & daughter-in-law of the elderly woman, Scooter Boy’s “favorite” patient. Scooter Boy was trying to track down her grand-kids. What’s-her-name linked the dead coupled in when she saw their wedding photo in the elderly woman’s room.

Laura-GCHQ 4 points 2 years ago.

I love this show but it’s beginning to piss me off. They leave alot unanswered and when they do attempt to explain some of the weird occurrences, the explanations are half corked at best. All the weird and strange things that happened in this episode can’t just have that simple explanation. GEEEZZZZZ…..
I’m worried this might get cancelled before they get around to dishing out the really good stuffs.

Researcher 1 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I wonder why they dropped the Leland Townsend plot-line so suddenly…or was it just put on the back burner? Maybe trying to appeal to more secular base?
IMO, seems like the writers are trying to introduce Fringe-like or X-Filesey vibes.

I’m out! I just don’t like Jason Watkins (DS Dodds) as a bumbling second fiddle. And having CS Houseman “participate” in the big reveal seems like a failed attempt at providing more oomph to James Murray’s role! Not a bad flick for someone who knows the behind the scenes at a campus. But I would ban the use of recording devices that record more than just audio. There can be a TA who takes pictures of what is written on the board and uploads that to students via an official website. You can see from this episode things will get out of control easily from the students taking things out of context..

Fear the Walking Dead (2015)
rdmovieman 0 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

If the feet is died inside of her stomach wouldn’t it have become a zombie seeing how everybody’s infected and anything that dies becomes a zombie. Also I can guarantee you I got what’s going on already. The people underground are in a nuclear asylum and they needed the key to set off nuclear explosions which would clean the Earth of all of the zombies and leave the people left behind underground to become the new nation of whatever… Pretty sure that’s how it’s going to turn out. And why the heck would you listen to a lady that just had a dream.. oh she must be right because she yelled.. how stupid was that one. Definitely right though it was somewhat of a tearjerker to watch.

Researcher 0 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Yep, I agree with your theory. I figured nukes would be involved once that key showed up. And it’s suspiciously unaddressed in a reality that’s supposed to be based in the 20th century.

Fear the Walking Dead (2015) S6 E13
UGuess 0 points 3 years ago*.

I thought it was a scratch too but I thought it didn’t matter if it was either way that if your blood was infected with it’s blood or you died, well it sucks. But now I see how I got it all mixed up. From the original premise of TWD, not the show, that was the case. “According to a quote from the creator of the original comic series, Robert Kirkman: The rule is: WHATEVER it is that causes the zombies, is something everyone already has. If you stub your toe, get an infection and die, you turn into a zombie, UNLESS your brain is damaged.” But with TV it was only through bite or death. Thanks for all the help too.

Researcher 0 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

You’re right: everyone is carrying it. I meant that had the wound (scratch or whatever) been from the walker, I don’t think they’d be that nonchalant about it…unless it’s meant to get lethal later on!

Hollywood will never learn that when in a war zone, one does not walk down the middle of the street. I get that the bombing raid shot required centering but it didn’t make sense when they were simply walking around before the raid. And don’t get me started on the lack of light discipline!

Hi Canadian living in Canada here. The CBC in fact did not want to cancel the show, they did try to save it and find someone worthy of being Ins replacement… The CBC did order a 6th season but Ins was done making tv and wanted more. The one who really started this was Ins Choi because he wanted to produce movies and make more money. The CBC did in fact try to find another Korean Canadian writer for the show but they felt like others were not adequate to take over, so with no other options… they chose to end the show….. the show’s fate ultimately lied in Ins Choi’s hands…..

It’s very much like John Wick which is a good thing. Just when they’re out the game people pull them back in. I like that they cast someone who looks nothing like the typical action star to do these more realistic fight scenes. You can tell the dedication Bob Odenkirk put into training and so much fun seeing Christopher Lloyd also playing a badass. It’s just a great action flick to sit back with some popcorn and enjoy.

FINALLY the underlying truth comes out, after 36 episodes! Most of S2 up to here has been ‘filler’ stories tbh, a lot of it nothing to do with ‘the pattern’ we heard so much about in S1.
