Paul McCartney Really Is Dead: The Last Testament of George Harrison (2010)
Ditzygypsy 0 points 4 years ago.

So dumb. I’ve never cared much for the Beatles, but I have respect for actual legend status, and they are indeed legends. But this is silly. Never mind the fact that the narrator does the worst Liverpool accent and George Harrison imitation ever, but Heather Mills is younger than I am, and I was 1 year old in 1966 😂😂. They even dubbed over the real Harrison saying “Faul” instead of what he actually said, “Paul” in the the Australian TV interview close to the end of this, sneaky bastards. And the supposed justification for needing to cover up Paul McCartney’s “death”…that there’d be mass suicides?! Lol. No there wouldn’t have. Plenty of beloved people have passed and there has never been a rash of emotional-devastation suicides. Thank you, uploaders, though.

I tried for as I long as I could, but there is a lot of German spoken in here that should’ve been hard coded subtitles. I use iOS, and I never download the movies unless I’m going to move them to another older iOS device that I dedicate to storage and to save things to. Thank you, anyhow, uploaders. For anyone who does speak German and watches this, watching “Operation Finale” first will help fill in some of the historical background about the capture of Adolf Eichmann that is kind of needed to give this movie better historical context, and it’s also a very good movie, too.

This is the extended cut! I’ve seen this several times, but not the extended version. My favourite scene, though, is still “WE’RE ON THE RADIO!” Lol. They captured exactly how that first time feels, especially back when radio actually mattered. When the music mattered. Thank you, uploaders!

This is fantastic. I’ve loved Michael Sheen since I saw him in Laws of Attraction 15 years ago as the crazy punk rocker. He and Tennant have incredible chemistry in this series and the soundtrack and theme song variations are superb. If you like Lucifer, I think you’ll like this. Such a treat.

Could’ve capitalized SO much more on the theme of brainy, socially-stunted, awkward outcasts trying to fit 5 years of teenage fun into one night, but it totally missed its mark. Could’ve been much, much funnier, and the pudgy girl’s character could’ve been so much more likeable without changing the bit of friendship dynamic drama that was played out. At first, she seemed to be like a female Jonah Hill in the Jump Street movies, which would’ve worked perfectly for this. Instead, I felt no sympathy for her character and wanted her to fail. I think I just didn’t like the character, but maybe I also didn’t like the actress. I’m not sure. But the scene-stealer is definitely the character, Gigi/Triple A, who was a scream. I don’t know who she is, but her looks and mannerisms remind me of a cross between Blake Lively and Bri Larson. If it hadn’t been for her, I would’ve not bothered watching through to the end. Thank you, uploaders.

Thank you. I’m sorry I tried searching for it awhile back, and then today I just got so tired of referring “somewhere else” to my To Watch list, because it’s such a toxic place. Thank you so much. I just figured I was probably in a small minority of iOS-mobile-only users anyhow. I know how to use it. The hyperlink doesn’t actually do anything, though, and it’s ok if it’s just my kind of device that it doesn’t work for, but I posted it just in case no one knew. Thank you!

I'm Not Here (2019)
Ditzygypsy -1 points 4 years ago.

I think I understand the ending to this, but maybe how I interpret it isn’t how someone else would. It’s very poignant and sad. I was surprised to learn that Simmons is younger than my alcoholic ex husband by a few years as he looks like he could be my father in this film, and even when he’s not all roughed up like he is for this movie. He’s only 10 years older than I am. But his acting, without speaking one single word, is truly incredible. And Sebastian Stan did a fabulous job, too. Thank you, uploaders.

Do uploaders, whom I’m grateful for but quite confused by, only pick the ads that play before the video plays for men hiding behind computer screens in lonely dark rooms? I mean, women use these sites. Gay men I’m sure use these sites. Why are the ads so pathetically redundantly, poorly-targeted? Exactly how much click through profit is made? And why not try for the huge demographic that’s being completely ignored? Very perplexing.

Wow. I can’t believe anyone outside of Western Canada and under the age of 45 would have ever even heard of the Payolas. They were terrible, but I heard Eyes of a Stranger playing in this episode. Really surprising.

Married at First Sight (2015) S6 E32

Jules is right. There are girls and there are women in this experiment. And Jessika and Martha are the former. Never mind the audacious mendacity Jess constantly spews about her reasons for holding poor Mick hostage; it’s her utterly heinous lie about Mark’s intentions towards Ning that make her a horribly immature and selfish blonde, duck-lipped bimbo-bitch. I understand they are all in this experiment to try and find love for their empty lives because they haven’t learned to love, or even like, themselves yet, and I agree that since they are not legally married in this [Aussie] iteration of MAFS, they should take love and run with it if they find it. With whomever. However, they should also be forthright about it if it’s not with their “expert”-selected partner. Being deceptive should be a red flag about their personalities and should make anyone they’re covering up with and for, very circumspect about their character.

And WHY the fuck is Martha’s nose always plugged-sounding? I thought it was a cold at first, but it’s still plugged, and it’s annoying. I mean, is it some kind of weird rhinoplasty side-effect? The only things Martha has going for her are that she has a good guy in Michael, a beautiful figure, and she always chooses a classy and flattering skirt length. The others could learn from her in that regard and ditch the awful, body-chopping mini skirts.

Snow White (1916)

Noooo. It’s a Grimm’s Fairytale from the early 1800s, lol. It may even have been a folklore story passed down through oral traditions from before that, but it was definitely published by The Brothers Grimm. I doubt any residuals were paid out to anyone for the story by the time either this or the Disney film came out in the 1930s. I think it’s probably a public domain kind of deal, but if the original publisher of Grimm’s Tales was still in business when this version came out, maybe they received something from these filmmakers.

FYI, these are all also old Grimm’s Brothers’ fairytales that may have been around even before the Grimms published them in the early 19th century:

Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Puss in Boots, Rapunzel… . I never really watched Disney movies as a kid and preferred Elvis movies, lol, so I’m not sure about all the movies that Disney made, so there could be more. It was very cheap to use these time-honoured tales as plots for movies. They made a lot of money.

Married at First Sight (2015)
8STORY8 4 points 5 years ago.

This is the Australian Version of Married at First Sight. I’ve now watched both this version and the American one, while the same premise, they are very different. I like this one for it to me is more fascinating, entertaining, and yet the American version has it’s pluses. The US experts are more involved providing more support toward the couples success. And it does not have the weekly couples gathering dinner parties and weekly decision whether to stay in the “experiment” in front of the experts and the rest of the couples. While that adds an interesting dynamic and some pressure to the situation, it also adds some unnecessary and unhelpful drama (In my opinion), which might be interesting to viewers, but personally I’d rather see them succeed. Either way, I find myself coming back each season to watch them both.

Ditzygypsy 2 points 5 years ago*.

I like this one but I prefer the American version as an actual experiment and not just a mere ratings grab. The fact that they’re not even married here is a big issue because it makes the commitment all that much less serious. Plus they don’t even consider logistics for the couples when matching them, and Australia is a big place with enormously diverse cultural and even weather considerations. That sets the couples up to fail. They are also in a very fake bubble and never have to experience real life with their fake spouse. It may as well be an unscripted soap opera. The US couples DO get together with each other in real-world type social gatherings frequently. They go to work, decide which home to live in, meet neighbors, attend family functions, and make joint financial decisions. This show is really a pathetic joke, but it is one of my guilty pleasures; however, like you, I am more interested in seeing the successes (though there are almost ZERO) than I am interested in the drama of the failures. I matched 4 couples over 30 years ago, and they are all still married and very happy. They were all my friends from different parts of my life. These “experts” are either absolute idiots or just plain horrible people. As for the contestants, it must be awful to be so desperate, broken, and lonely. I was married for 15 years and then I had a disastrous relationship with a malignant narcissist for 7 years on and off, and have been free for 9 years. I love being free, and I will never date or get involved with anyone again. I am too happy and content and I like myself far too much. Thinking another person is the answer to your lack of happiness is 100% wrong. You have to like being with just yourself and enjoy being on your own first. You have to like it so much that you think VERY VERY HARD before you sacrifice that for the irritation, er, I mean constant presence of another person in your life, heart, and bed!
