But on the plus side, I read that there is a petition circulating to not let James Corden be in it. lol
Mind Blown….Jason Segal is a bloody genius for turning this into what he has! I loved every single weird ass, discovering moment of this series and I truly truly hope that he makes more these insightful shows…the original documentary was also pretty mind blowing…this is epic! Now that we are all pretty much on lockdown, if you haven-t yet watched it…all the episodes are out now, make a ton of popcorn and snuggle up. You’re in for a ride
spoiler alert. no animals were harmed during the making of this movie, but a tree was sacrificed.
There is an option when creating a comment under the comment box that says ‘Contains Spoilers’ that you check off when writing spoilers. It’s right by the ‘Submit’ button just fyi.
A definite spoof on the teen horror genre lol. They cast 30 - 40 yo to play high schoolers for starters. A mother who let’s her infant watch horror films at xmas (& all year long) & an Elmo muppet looking puppet as the favorite toy of the main character as a child. All the horror tropes are present of course & things go predictably wrong. They could’ve made this funnier imo since they play it all serious but I’m sure it’s become an underground cult classic because it’s a B movie low budget indie movie. I wouldn’t recommend this for everyone but hardcore horror B movie fans will appreciate it.
I didn’t get to watch this when it 1st aired due to my parents not allowing it. It was too controversial so I forgot about it & finally started watching today thanks to a youtube video I watched about the show. I can see why it was controversial since the subjects it addresses were considered pretty wild back then. This was written by the same team that wrote ‘Golden Girls’ 4 years later in ‘85 that addressed the same topics, but was much better received due to Soap’s influence helping to change the TV landscape.
think how many people would yell if they ran SOAP today ;-)
Lots of people did back then too. There was an organization called The National Federation For Decency formed by Donald Wildman that protested it & organized other groups against it too.
My bad. I get it. I listened to an album several times and what I liked was the many styles of “sounds” in the music. No song was the same. To me at least. All in all, their style may not be everyone’s cup of tea, I totally get it.
No worries. I do like their voices & they play their own instruments as well which is impressive. I tend to be more into alternative artists/bands so to each their own.
Yes! And thank you for writing this comment because after the longest wait of my life, the CAM version (which wasn’t indicated at the top of the page) has been replaced by the DVD version - hurray! So many shows and movies have come out on 2/18, I fear a 24-hour binge is upon me! If anyone is interested, The “Trivia” section on IMDB for this film is insane and the relationships between the characters and Hollywood are cra cra with connections. So much so, I couldn’t even finish reading all the examples, too long of a read.
One that did stick was that Alana Haim is in a band with her sister called Haim and they are awesomesauce! Diving in soon!
There’s actually 3 Haim sisters in the band. I’m not particularly fond of their music but I do acknowledge their talent.
Beautiful & odd film starring Tilda Swinton based on the book by Virginia Woolf which I have not read. I recall when this came out but it was not available where I lived so I didn’t see it & subsequently forgot about it till I ran across it on this site currently. Tilda is great as always but the movie I’m not so sure about since there are several major plot points that are unexplained. I might just read the book now.
Very dark, bizarre & funny cartoon. May trigger some due to the subject matter of the 1st epi. So watch at your own risk.
Thanks for your reply! The Roots are great, and I would go to a concert if they toured in my country. It’s very possible I was too harsh in my original post. Would like to know what you thought of the film.
That cover pic reminds me of the cover of Little Miss Sunshine but they’re very different movies. https://www.primewire.vc/movie/934551-watch-little-miss-sunshine
LOL I hate to admit it but I recall seeing this when it originally came out. I don’t remember if my fanily & me watched the entire run cause I don’t think my dad enyjoed it much & he controlled the TV. Tony Tennille was so happy it was downright sickening yet infectious bahahaha.
Incredible musical archives. Incredible also that this event was wiped off collective memory. Collective history.
Not quite 5 stars for me though, despite world-class music segments and crazy historical value. Because the document cannot seem to chose between being a pure film concert and a documentary.
For each major star’s music segment, we cut to either an interview of the same stars today or archives of the civil rights fights at the time. It’s great as a (very much needed) reminder. But as a storytelling device it is disjointed and repetitive. Also, gimme more of those music archives please.
I felt I never knew enough about the event itself. Over how many days did it take place? How many artists? How the heck did they manage that crazy budget? Why was there no second edition?
And pertaining to the film: where were the archives? How were they never shown? How did they end up surfacing? What did it take to make this film happen? This is all part of the remembrance process. Of the wiping-off process, too. I missed that very much.
Anyway. If you just came for the music archives, buckle up. Cos here lies some of the best soul music you’ll ever hear.
Artist Questlove of the band The Roots made this(who by the way are an amazing band to see in person. I saw them in San Francisco in the early’10s. They are also Jimmy Fallon’s backup band on The Tonight Show but have had a very successful career long before that)& it is his 1st ever film, so it’s understandable why it’s a bit confused. I’m sure he’s learned a lot in the process & since it was released. I’ve yet to watch this so it’s interesting to see your observations/critiques. I too would like to know the answer to those questions you asked. Thanks for the thorough review.
3 episodes in and i’m still wondering what this show truly is about…
Rotten Tomatoes also says “6 Episodes” for this season, spelled out like that. Kind of a bummer. Usually a studio orders a small 1st season then more for the 2nd and subsequent seasons so long as it’s doing good. And everyone seems to love this.
@irdulli yea it’s odd since the 1st season was 10 epis. I bet the lesser amount has something to do w/the pandemic & cutbacks due to the studio conserving on productions since theaters were closed & then opened w/limited capacity so revenue has been decreased significantly.
Episode 1, “The Collective” & Episode 2, “Seven”: February 3
Episode 3: February 10
Episode 4: February 17
Episode 5: February 24
Episode 6: March 3
Episode 7: March 10
Episode 8: March 17
Are their really only 6 epis for the 2nd season? I don’t see more on IMDB.com
Loving this show. it’s hilarious & ridiculously fun. Alan Ritchson, of Reacher fame,is one of the co-stars & is so over the top in his portrayal as a college football team captain. He’s great lol. Each epi is short at 20 to 25 mins so a short watch. May not be for everyone since the humor is pretty low brow but if you like that type of humor it’s hilarious.
Holy crap, now that’s a cliffhanger that sets up the premise for season 2. Great great show. That whole ending threw me w/the reveal of Melody’s mom as the caretaker/witch. What a trip.
So excellent. I put off watching it since I loved the original iconic series so much. But this looks & has the same feel as the old series which I’m so happy about. I’ve not read the books by Armistead Maupin both series are based on still after all these years though. I’m looking forward to watching the rest of this series.
Great behind the scenes doc to wrap up the show. Love this show so much. Sad it’s over.
Very interesting slice of life movie. It reminds me a lot of The Florida Project & it is directed by the same director. Definitely a character study. No real plot to speak of, just mainly the everyday lives of people struggling to make it in the world & seemingly on the downhill slope of their lives. Simon Rex is great in it as is the rest of the cast. Was rather surprised by the ending I might add though. It seemed quite out of the blue. Other than that I enjoyed it.
This is listed and the links to it are with the other Insecure episodes here:

Thank you. I was waiting for this to come out. I wonder why they didn’t upload it to this page? Odd.
I looked for the “report link” button but did not see it. This title has no links, but I did notice it said “In development” underneath the image (if it had one). Hopefully all will get straightened out soon enough. Thanks!
It hasn’t been released yet, that’s why there are no links or a way to request links. Once it has been officially released then links will be uploaded as they become available.
This is the original BBC series that the current US series Murderville w/Will Arnett is based on. Campy & funnier imo.
Disappointing. Watched the 1st epi & there were only a couple mildly amusing bits in it. Expected it to be funny since Arnett & Conan are in it. I got half way through the epi & debated whether I wanted to finish it since it wasn’t doing it for me then did something else & came back later. Wasn’t worth coming back to it imo.
You should report the person holding you hostage and forcing you to watch these zombie shows to the authorities.
I think Laura Linney’s character Wendy is probably the most evil one on the show & she’s so excellent at masking it behind her sweet smile lol. Then again I think Darlene is her equal but she’s much more upfront about it than Wendy. I think that last scene may have won Wendy the title of most evil though w/her watching Darlene suffering from an attack & waiting to call 911. Linney is just sublime in this role, she’s just an amazing actor.
He’s been very active since, from being a Ninja Turtle to Titans to having his own post apocalyptic death race style show, Blood Drive - which was so much better than it had any right to be.
Blood Drive was my intro to Richson. Loved that show, it was SO over the top. Just a wild ride literally. Definitely a tribute to the grindhouse movie genre. I was not happy it got canceled.
It’s a spoof on the novel/movie, The Girl on the Train - out a few years ago, and also The Woman in the Window - has all the cliches in the book - very clever
I must be an alien because I just don’t get why people gush so enthusiastically about this show. I don’t hate it, but it’s only mildly amusing at best IMO. To each their own I guess.
I agree. I usually love Alan Tudyck but this wears thin quickly even w/him. His performance is mediocre at best. It’s unfortunate since he’s such a great actor but the fish out of water alien trope isn’t advanced here. It’s just him being deadpan & it’s not very interesting. I think it might be the director.
Really wished there were more epis than 5. I look forward to the 2nd season.
The premise isn’t necessarily new, but this first episode still manages to bring something new to the zombie subgenre. I look forward to seeing where it goes.
I enjoyed it because it’s from a different culture than the US which gave it a fresh feel for an old subgenre of teen zombie movies but nothing new that I saw.
The take your child to work scene was so ridiculous lol. Still unsure about this show though. Since it’s a satire it’s not really very funny to me at least. I usually love dark comedy but this one perplexes me for some reason. Maybe it’s because Bell usually does much more comedic roles. But I’ll keep watching for a few more epis.
Impressive. I was drawn in from the start by the acting, story & stunning cinematography. Each epi is around 1:15 to 1:20 minutes long, so basically a full movie an epi. If you enjoy Korean movies/series you will love it. If this is the 1st time you’ve seen a Korean film/series it may take a bit to get used to the melodramatic style of acting but worth giving it a chance.
