Star Trek: Discovery (2017) S4 E13
Cap'n Kirk 10 points 2 years ago.

Thank the Gods Pickard is out so I dont have to pretend this is enjoyable Star Trek. I wont watch another episode of this dribble. I just cant fake it anymore.

Birdsforme 10 points 2 years ago.

I agree. Decided to stop torturing myself and quit three episodes back.

Invasion (2021) S1 E4
Birdsforme 7 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

The busload of kids has a “Lord of the flies” feel to it, but I am glad the direction it is now going in. However it is too unrealistic all those kids made it to the top without a scratch or fall. The family with the cheating husband just annoys me. Parents fighting about the infidelity in the midst of the invasion is just plain stupid. The fact that the son runs away adds to the already dumb moves of the family. I can understand the American G Is rage, but the way he treats the people who are either helping or trying to is an embarrassment as a representation of our G Is. Although the dead astronauts girlfriend bringing the tape to the dad may be important later, right now that whole story bores me. There was not enough time to become emotionally invested in either of those characters, so seeing the left behind girlfriends grief does nothing to make me want to watch the next episode.

Hey everyone, I`m doing a happy dance because Yellowstone is back this coming Sunday. Two episodes!

Invasion (2021) S1 E6

Wow, first real action episode. And a big clue how to fight back.

Stillwater (2021)
Birdsforme 9 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I am used to seeing Matt Damon in more action movies. This one is slow and more reflective, with undertones of desperation and hopelessness. To me, Matt Damon played the script exactly right. It just is not the kind of movie that brings up ones adrenaline or made me high having watched it. I dont think any awards will be one for it. But with no great highs, heroes or excitement, I think it is much closer to real life that most movies. A solid three stars for me, mainly for Mr. Damon nailing the character.

Hello, all you Picard fans, of which I am one. He will be back for season 3 this coming Thursday. (16th)

Reminiscence (2021)
Birdsforme 6 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

This has the style of an old time crime drama, with a sci fi modern twist. Felt slow to get going but eventually picked up. Inception like ending. Hugh Jackman was at his best.

Resident Alien (2021) S2 E5
Birdsforme 6 points 2 years ago.

Always funny, this one was also sweet in it`s alien twisted way.

House of the Dragon (2022) S1 E9
Birdsforme 6 points 1 year ago.

Ah gee, I would have liked to seen them fried.

The Old Man (2022) S1 E2
Birdsforme 6 points 1 year ago.

Such a good actor, I am glad Mr. Bridges beat cancer and survived Covid. He picked a winner with this series. Even during the calm, one can feel the tension building for more action.

Resident Alien (2021) S2 E1
Birdsforme 6 points 2 years ago.

Extremely funny and clever show. If you have not watched it, check it out. If you like it, you can binge all of season 1 and watch along with 2 which is just begun.

Daliland (2023)
Birdsforme 6 points 10 months ago*.

Ben Kingsley, at 79 is still going strong. I think he played Dali well. Having known nothing about the artist, I read a summery from Wikipedia. This story seems to be spot on with the description of Dalis life. Parts of the film are clever and wickedly funny, with a large supply of decadence. The problem was, for me at least, there was not enough substance about Dalis life. It focused on the later years which were known for being a big unending party. I started to get bored with all the fun. The acting is well done. I wish there would have been more focus on Dali`s earlier years to balance out the rest. There are subtle scenes that indicate what was going on behind the scenes, but unless you have already read about Dali these things they are easy to miss in this story surrounded by all the flash.

Every episode goes so quickly for me. I have not been bored yet. Some great songs in this one too.

Five Bedrooms (2019)
Birdsforme 6 points 2 years ago*.

Saw the second season advertised and had never heard of this series before. By the second episode of season 1 I was hooked. A delightful group of characters that grew more on me each episode. Binged the first season in a few days. Well worth a watch. Great season 1 ending. Solid 4 for me.

For All Mankind (2019) S4 E9
Birdsforme 6 points 4 months ago.

Nooooo! Some unresolvable actions.

A Man Called Otto (2023)
Birdsforme 6 points 1 year ago.

This story is based on a novel by a Swedish author Fredrick Backman which was called “A man called Ove”. The novel stayed on the New York Times best seller`s list for 42 weeks. Tom Hanks stars as well as co produces this film.
I love watching Mr. Hanks work and consider him a talented actor. I think he nailed the character, Otto. The story is funny, sad and heartwarming.

A one minute message for everyone.

Star Trek: Discovery (2017) S4 E5
Birdsforme 6 points 2 years ago.

I have seen many of the Star Trek series, starting with the original starring William Shatner. In keeping with Gene Roddenberrys vision I think this season of Discovery is more in line with Roddenberrys. I think the minute by minute action we have become used to is not what Roddenberry had in mind. All his Star Trek`s were a balance of species interaction with action filled tasks.

A Boy and His Dog (1975)
Birdsforme 8 points 2 years ago.

Dark comedy with major actors during that time. Don’t let the title fool you into thinking it’s a family movie. A cult classic with adult themes.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022) S1 E5
Birdsforme 5 points 1 year ago*.

This episode could also have been called “Looking at things through your eyes”. Much of the episode was about seeing things through the others perspective. I also remember an episode from the first Star trek that had parts of Spocks dream complete with the sound effects. It was season 2. episode 5, and called “Amok Time”

Nine Perfect Strangers (2021) S1 E5
Birdsforme 5 points 2 years ago.

Each episode is so good the 40 some minutes flies by.

Poor Things (2024)
Birdsforme 5 points 3 months ago.

Brilliant, in a warped and twisted way. Great acting, excellent actors and fantastic ending.

Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)
Birdsforme 5 points 2 years ago.

This one is a timeless classic. The best Dracula movies of its time and still very good. Gary Oldman does an amazing job with his part. Great film for this season.

Star Trek: Discovery (2017) S4 E9
Birdsforme 5 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

This is not”Game of Thrones” We all know no one is taking out any major character, so to me this whole episode was a waste of time. Personally, I think arguing about whether to take out a weapon that is taking out whole planets and risk annoying aliens or saying hello first, is just lame. Instead we consider taking out our own species. Sounds like earth today. And to top it off, lets take time to meditate. Really?!!! Gene Roddenberry I think would be embarrassed.

Jungle Cruise (2021)

great adventure movie for the whole family.

Childhood's End (2015) S1 E3

The Peripheral (2022) S1 E1

Story of a high tech SIM that can and does filter into real life. Lesson: Don`t help your sibling with video games….!

Silo (2023) S1 E6
Birdsforme 5 points 11 months ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

Sad, if one thinks about it that they are so isolated that a kids book can be a federal offence. Imagine what they would think of the Discovery Channel, the travel channel, and animal planet. Another good episode. It amazes me that it can be built around an old watch and a pez container.

Wrath of Man (2021)
Birdsforme 7 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Story builds, action begins, tensions is building and keeps going till the end. A real guy`s movie but I loved it. Excellent acting, good story.

1883 (2021) S1 E5
Birdsforme 8 points 2 years ago.

These actors and this show makes me feel all the emotions as if what I am watching it real. It cannot be any better quality than that. Thinking about how this series is a prequel to the current Dutton family, it helps to shape all that they are and why.

Being the Ricardos (2021)
Birdsforme 6 points 2 years ago.

I thought Nicole Kidman was a good pick for Lucy. She had the voice down pat and depending on how she wore her hair, side view she looked like Lucy. As for the movie, I learned a few things about them I did not know. Not great, but an okay watch.

Finch (2021)
Birdsforme 8 points 2 years ago.

Only Tom Hanks can do an entire movie with a robot and a dog and make it seem like the most natural thing in the world. Love all his films. He has come up from talking to a basketball (Remember Castaway 2000) Been waiting for this one. Thanks linkers for getting it out there so quickly

Red Snow (2021)
Birdsforme 7 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Very funny, mostly. I enjoyed it, but was not happy with the ending. I thought something more clever could have been found. There was a scene in the beginning that reminded me of something that happened in real life. My son came home one winter afternoon from school with a shoebox. He said big kids were kicking around the box and there was a live bat inside. I let him put the box on a shelf until we could figure out what to do with a live bat. Meanwhile, the bat warmed up, and escaped the box. After capturing it, and securing it in a box we drove it to an old covered bridge where it was released to fly away. No spoilers here. Just a memory triggered by a scene in this movie.

The Marksman (2021)

I am glad I did not pass this one by.

Moon Knight (2022) S1 E5
Birdsforme 4 points 2 years ago.

Although entertaining for beginning to end, this episode had me totally confused. I had to read outside info on the episodes explained till now. Perhaps the 6th episode will clear it up. Great mini series.

Yellowstone (2018) S4 E6

Never knew how beautiful Utah and Montana was till I watched this series.

Beforeigners (2019) S2 E6

Best episode of the season, and the most confusing.

Chapelwaite (2021) S1 E1
Birdsforme 4 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Based on Jerusalem’s Lot, a short story by Stephen King, and starring Adrien Brody, the first episode is set in a brooding, dark ancestral home of the Boone family. After the death of Boone’s wife and the three children`s mother the family go there for a fresh start. They are not welcome by the town. Acting is excellent and believable by the family and the town who is prejudiced against them.

Awful final episode, no explanation and zero motivation to watch a season 2 if they have it.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022) S1 E9
Birdsforme 4 points 1 year ago. (Contains Spoilers)

This episode had everything. A good fight, touching moments, some very sad and some very touching scenes.

Jules (2023)
Birdsforme 4 points 8 months ago.

I found this tonight. The beginning was maddingly slow, and I would have not stuck with it if I was not a big fan of Ben Kingsley. At first I did not recognize Mr. Kingsley with the altered appearance. It stated out as a silly story, but evolved into a collection of touching moments. The ending was emotional and somewhat sad to me. I am glad I hung in there and continued to watch. Link i had was clear with decent sound.

Yellowstone (2018) S4 E7
