Olivia Colman…YES! Trailer looks fantastic. Hope those weren’t the only funny bits!

Fargo (2014) S5 E5
Researcher 6 points 4 months ago.

I am LOVING Jennifer Jason Leigh in this! This episode truly showcased her villainous capabilities. When one thinks about how she’s putting her stamp and flair to the written word, one realizes how much she brings to the table. Jennifer Jason Leigh has got my vote for Fargo s5 MVP!

When it comes to playing scientific roles, Barbara Sukowa is the best! This type of film shouldn’t exist without her participation. Best remembered from the TV series “12 Monkeys.” Weird ‘cause with the accent, you’d expect her to be the evil scientist but, when I see her, I feel that everything is under control. Of course, this was only minutes into the 1st episode so, we shall see!

Foundation (2021)
sigh 19 points 2 years ago.

If anyone wants to know, if you want to read all the books in galaxy chronological order, be warned prelude might have spoilers for the rest after! There can be 15 up to 26. Here’s the list I nerdily compiled:

·End of Eternity (Harlan’s timeline to colonization, optional)
·Complete Robot (anth incl. I, Robot so either is fine)
·Lucky Starr Series (6 books mentions laws of robotics, optional)
·Nemesis (optional)
·Caves of Steel
·Naked Sun
·Robots of Dawn
·Robots and Empire
·Stars, Like Dust (asimov goofed with the order in prelude)
·Currents of Space
·Pebble in the Sky
·Prelude to Foundation
·Forward the Foundation
·Foundation
·Foundation and Empire
·Second Foundation
·Foundation’s Edge
·Foundation and Earth
His friends then wrote with permission of family (not as good but fun)
·Foundations Fear
·Foundation and Chaos
·Foundations Triumph

New to it?
TO AVOID SPOILERS in order of reader discovery you can read the Foundation series:
~ The original Foundation Trilogy
~ Foundation’s Edge
~ Foundation and Earth
~ Prelude to Foundation
~ Forward the Foundation

Researcher 5 points 2 years ago.

Thanks for this list, sigh!
I just “acquired” 7 of the Foundation books on my Kindle…ready to go after I finish the Clive Barker I’m reading now. I used the wiki entry to set the order but after your recommendation as to the “reader discovery” order, I’m changing my reading order.

The premise is. An object can be in two places/states at once, depending on the observer. Think of it as 2 multiverses overlapping. The mystery is still whether it’s due to going into outer space or caused by the experiment.

Researcher 5 points 2 months ago.

Thanks wildfrontier. I did mention Schrodinger’s cat early on. I think the combo of space and experiment is at the center. Just a bit miffed at all the melodrama and lack of development. Besides, a bit of self-deprecation never hurt anybody! ;-)

Yeah…I’m not watching a Harrison spin-off…don’t like him…actor and character both. Unfortunately, I imagine that’s what the Jan 10 announcement is.
I WOULD watch a Batista spin-off, though…fingers crossed, eh?!
Agree: ending was a let-down…

The Head (2020)

Wow! The quality of the writing for season 2 made an edge-of-your-seat nail-biter out of almost every episode! Would want to see it continued into a s3 but I can’t imagine them get it this right a 3rd time. You’ve got to watch this one if you enjoyed s1…you WILL NOT be disappointed!

Mystery Road (2013)
Researcher 2 points 3 years ago*.

Aussie dramas always draw me in. So much so that I’ve begun to recognize the faces. And so many of my faves in this one: Judy Davis, Deborah Mailman, Wayne Blair.
Then another fave gets mentioned (thanks bevnick!), Sofia Helin, and sold!

Researcher 4 points 3 years ago*.

Update (11/8/20)
Finished season 1 binge. Good drama! Robust whodunit for a primary plot-line plus healthy secondary plot-lines makes for an easy binge. Enough possibilities to keep you guessing until the last episode. I enjoyed the glimpse at life in the outback; cinematography/sceneries are still kicking ass! 3.5 / 5

Yep, still likin’ Kidman for the skull-bashing.
Another great episode…lots of disclosure in this one.
FWIW, Sutherland still does it for me…I think it’s the gravelly voice.
He’s one of the few great Hollywood voices left…RIP Sir Sean Connery!
As always, thanks Uploaders!

My review of this week’s episode: DAMN!!

The Thursday Murder Club
Piglet 4 points 13 days ago.

The Thursday Murder Club follows a group of pensioners living in a luxury retirement community who set out to solve the murder of a property developer. Author Richard Osman revealed that Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, and Ben Kingsley will play three of the four sleuths. No release date yet.

So, revenge as that famously cold dish…not quite. I liked the sophomoric attempt at misdirection, but there was something off putting in the delivery…or was it the timing…or both?
Only one writer to blame here (Capaldi). I’ve always been leery of projects where an unknown writer is also a cast member, especially when cast as the lead.
And it seemed almost inhumane to see both Jackson and Cassel in supporting roles to an unknown. The denouement fell short due to the casting. In fact, I believe the writer’s ego made the casting a mistake. IMO, Jackson made more sense as the detective in the active investigation with Cassel as the consultant framing Capaldi (or even Hannah) for the murders. Even the supporting cast is comprised of seasoned actors that seemed under-utilized: John Hannah, Kate Dickie (the Chief), Brian McCardie
As I write this, I’m wondering if it was a poorly written script that the talent couldn’t save or is it just that an egotistic writer got in the way of the casting…hmm…or both?
Too bad…it could’ve been a contender!

For those that enjoyed “Primer,” here’s Carruth’s second movie. No need to watch “Primer,” just a reference to the style. Be patient with the first acts, it’ll all fall into place. I like to be challenged with my movie-watching and this one fit the bill quite nicely. Highly recommend for the high-end “connect the dots” feel.

Edge of my seat to the end!
If you were to mix the “everybody knows the secret but you” vibe of Midsommar with the small semi-isolated community mythos from Jude Law’s The Third Day, you get this quiet little gem.
Overall, I gave it a 4.5 out of 5…highly recommend it…easily binge-worthy!

After finishing season 2, all I’ve got to say is Man! I hope there’s a season 3!
Every episode this season was chock full of twists and turns…most were gripping, edge-of-your-seat, and action-packed. Every plot-line expertly woven into the whole tapestry. Loved it and want more! 4 / 5

I think Alicent realized the King thought he was talking to his daughter and hopefully relays his final words to her.

I wonder what rock that sneaky snake “The Clubfoot” is hiding under.

Researcher 3 points 1 year ago. (Contains Spoilers)

If Alicent realized that the king meant Rhaenyra, the last thing she would do would be to pass on his last words. In fact, she might take it as “keep on truckin” pat on the back, if anything.

Not a bad flick for someone who knows the behind the scenes at a campus. But I would ban the use of recording devices that record more than just audio. There can be a TA who takes pictures of what is written on the board and uploads that to students via an official website. You can see from this episode things will get out of control easily from the students taking things out of context..
