1st episode I didn’t watch all the way through, I had flashbacks from being forced to watch Sound of Music as a child

AmieWarren 2 points 17 hours ago.

I don’t like musicals, which is strange, because I love music.

I do not understand why perfectly good series think they have to do musical episodes. So annoying, because half of them have horrible voices.

Married at First Sight (2014) S17 E5
AmieWarren 1 points 4 days ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I can’t believe I’m watching this. Had nothing else to watch last night, so just took a chance on it. So far, I don’t like Clare or Lauren. I feel like they are controlling and self-centered and will probably end up blowing the entire relationship up. Becca and Austin seem well matched, but he loves outdoor activities, so I think her health problems will end up breaking them up. Sad, because personality-wise, I feel like they are the best matched.

The Regime (2024) S1 E3

I can’t get into this show. It’s a little too off the wall for me. I don’t understand how desperate Kate Winslet would have to be for work to take this show. But for those who like it, more power to you.

Belgravia: The Next Chapter (2024) S1 E8

Not nearly as interesting as the first Belgravia. I think the creators should stop at this and call it a day.

The Regime (2024) S1 E1
AmieWarren 1 points 21 days ago.

Well, that was interesting. Kate Winslet is amazing, as usual. Can’t say much for the rest of the cast. though. Except for her, it was rather boring.

finally getting around to watching this, it’s pretty good. I’m just soooo glad they didn’t add a laugh track as they are very annoying. On to episode 2 :)

AmieWarren 3 points 21 days ago.

Once I started watching it, I couldn’t stop. You’ll love it.

Death and Other Details (2024) S1 E10

I enjoyed this. Just when you think you had it all figured out, there was something else around the corner. Hoping for Season 2.

Damn! I’m going to miss Marlon, and I’ll bet you with his ex coming back, Neville will soon be gone too. I liked him better than all the other detectives. I hope this isn’t the end of the show. Actors usually say they leave because they miss home. If I had a chance to live in paradise, I surely would not miss England! Sign me up!

Belgravia: The Next Chapter (2024)

This starts getting really interesting in E7. A little boring before then, but still worth watching.

Just found this show, watched 6 episodes and I’m hooked. These characters are pure genius.

Cannes Confidential (2023)
DownrightDebonaire 2 points 8 months ago*.

I was very much looking forward to this show and gave it three episodes, hoping it would fall into it’s own formula. Unfortunately, it never really feels authentic. It feels like someone said hey let’s make a destination show and hired the crew from CSI Miami to film it. The pilot is way too over dramatic and the timing/beats are all off. It stinks of western/Hollywood influence. From the extremely stylized (unnecessary) angled shots from the ground to show the exotic backgrounds to the cheesy one liners with sunglasses.

I was hoping to watch a show where I learned about the location and culture over the course of a season. Instead it’s this trope filled disaster with a mysterious back story about the father that just isn’t attention grabbing. Macdonald & Dobbs, Wong & Winchester, The Spencer Sisters, and DeadLoche are all executed much better, have more than just a single female lead and if you’re not from those countries you learn a bit about their culture and the laws there- they also have plenty of humor and the dialogue is easier to understand because the actors aren’t stumbling their way through rapid fire English dialogue as their 2nd or 3rd language.

It seems like it was made for American audiences but they pumped it full of the formulaic stuff we’re sick of. If you like the first season of Lucifer and the 1st season of CSI Miami look no further than this sloppy mashup

AmieWarren -1 points 28 days ago.

Well, there are only 7 stories in the world, so it has to be hard to make them feel original.

Belgravia: The Next Chapter (2024) S1 E6
Mikeonalpha 2 points 1 month ago.

me too, especially the period shows. But the original series was written and produced by Julian Fellows - this series is considered an adaptation of that, and not really a 2nd season. But the original is certainly worth watching.

AmieWarren 0 points 1 month ago.

Honestly, I watch for entertainment. I wouldn’t know Julian Fellows from Julia Roberts and don’t care as long as it’s a good show. Not that much into all the details. In fact, I usually forget most of a series as soon as it’s over.

Belgravia: The Next Chapter (2024) S1 E6
Mikeonalpha 1 points 1 month ago. (Contains Spoilers)

yes, this “secret” was carried over from the 1st series. Freddie’s father was a gambler and a philanderer and was exiled to France in disgrace at the end of last season. His brother has finally told the truth about their mother’s “affair.” She was convinced that she could never get pregnant with her husband, so when she had the affair, they made the choice to “cover it up” and treat Freddie as their own. But of course, in Victorian London, the past always comes back!!!

AmieWarren 1 points 1 month ago.

OK. I don’t remember that, but then, I watch so many shows, I don’t remember half of them.

Belgravia: The Next Chapter (2024) S1 E6

Did we not see this all coming? I figured out the secret in the first three episodes. I just hope Ross can catch this all before it goes completely off the rails and Frederick loses everything.

I like this show. Some good quirky characters, good backstory, and just enough violence to keep it interesting, but not overly so.

Hoarders (2009) S15 E2
AmieWarren 0 points 1 month ago.

I’m not even halfway through this episode and I don’t like it. The organizer just talked about throwing valuable antiques in the trash! NOOOO!!! Not in this house! Someone needs to curate and store everything. I don’t know if I can watch any more if valuable antiques are going to be thrown out.

Constellation (2024) S1 E1
Birdsforme 3 points 1 month ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Well, this series started out intent on completely confusing the viewer. With the events that happened the writers are going for shock value rather than building up any background. I am not a fan of shows that build up questions and give no answers, until possibly the end. This series got mixed reviews so I will give it a good try. I was very fond of “For all mankind” and this is nothing like that. Perhaps that`s a good thing. I will wait and see
“:

AmieWarren 1 points 1 month ago.

Every review I’ve read says it starts to come together after the first two episodes. Seems like lately, there are a lot of shows that take a few episodes to get going. Must be a thing.

The Irrational (2023)
AmieWarren -1 points 1 month ago.

I actually liked this. I’m more into the story than critiquing the acting, etc. I thought it was a good story, but I couldn’t have imagined how it turned out. The ending definitely leaves it open for a season 2. I think it will probably be better because they’ll improve it from the feedback from this one. If you love action-packed shoot-em-up type shows you’ll be bored with this one.

Narvik: Hitler's First Defeat (2023)
dosmundos 0 points 1 month ago.

Russia and China were our allies in every World war, you know, the good guys. If any one country wanted an insane manipulatable president of the USA they got their wish Jan 6th 2021. If you want to talk about ‘neutrality’ let’s not forget to mention the country that sat on it’s ass for 2 years while London was bombed. If Japan hadn’t attacked Pearl Harbour and Germany declared war on them all of Germany would be now speaking Russian.

AmieWarren -1 points 1 month ago.

Some Germans do speak Russian. Remember, the USSR owned half of Germany for decades. Do you really think they were allowed to speak only German?

What we got on Jan. 6, 2021 was a bunch of whackos attacking the capitol for the first time since the Civil War — which they celebrate every day with all their confederate flags and shite. I’ve never seen people celebrate a war they lost. They just have no shame, do they? “Hey, we’re a bunch of traitorous thugs who tried to overturn the government TWICE!” They lost the first time, they’ll lose the second time.

Narvik: Hitler's First Defeat (2023)
kraichgau 8 points 1 month ago*.

both Hitler and his ideology were consequences of the lost first world war and the results(Versaille,hyper-inflation,political chaos and mass-unemployment).
that they ended in evil disaster, was hardly clear in 33 to the common people, because the book of hitler hasnt been read by most of them.
the fight between communists and hitlerists went on over the full time of weimar and the communist idea wasnt appealing to most germans.
he was a huge disaster for germany as a nation, but he didnt come out of the air and other nations did their part into bringing him into power

AmieWarren 2 points 1 month ago*.

“other nations did their part into bringing him into power”
Sort of like Russia and China want our ex-President (he whose name shall not be spoken) to once again be in the White House? They wanted Hitler because he was insane and could be manipulated. Same same here. Evil will only triumph for a short while, then it will be defeated by the forces of good.
I admire your lifelong study of history. Too few people know their country’s history, and most don’t care to. That’s why they become sheeple, believing the lies of the autocrats.

Well, that was well worth every binged minute. I don’t know why I didn’t ever watch this before. This show is pure genius. The only thing missing was the destruction of the portrait. It should not have ended. There were so many more stories that could be told. Maybe one day there will be a sequel. I will say one more thing. Timothy Dalton aged very well. Pretty hot still for an old man.

I can’t name 5 of her songs, but anyone who can enrage fragile broflakes by simply being on screen in a sportsball game for 20 seconds, has my respect.

AmieWarren 2 points 1 month ago.

Anyone who takes 10 seconds of a musclehead’s football time enrages them. Talk about addicts — they are the WORST addicts and act like idiots at games.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (2023)
AmieWarren 3 points 1 month ago.

If anyone watched the grammys, you would have seen why people love Taylor. She was up dancing and singing to all the other artists’ songs, yelling and clapping as loud as she could to support them. She didn’t have to do that, but she’s a very, very nice person. I probably won’t watch this concert, but I was impressed by her support of even her competitors. As for Beyonce, you had your day. Call off your attack husband, because new people are having their day now.

This is a really cute show. If you like watching things that are silly and have no deep meaning, give it a try. I get tired of watching cop/detective shows and monster shows, and something like this really gives me a break.

It is so good I’ve been thinking of watching the entire series again. When I watched it for the first time my husband was still alive and we would discuss and critic every episode. I know it will trigger those memories. On the 17th of this month it will be 7 years since he past

Not when she was young, it wasn’t. The thing was, when she was popular, it was more about rock and roll. I have no idea why she never got the recognition she deserved, but those of us who loved her and her music gave her as much love as we could.

Yuck, too much Taylor Swift and bad speech by Jay Z, loved Tracy Chapman tho!

AmieWarren 4 points 1 month ago.

Jay Z is one ugly man, and his speech was reminiscent of Kanye West showing his ass that time. Beyonce had her day. Time to turn the spotlight over to somebody else. She’s gonna be one of those 70-something singers still trying to be relevant and cool, making fools of themselves like Madonna.

I cried during “Fast Car.” That song meant so much to me at the time. I never liked Miley until “Flowers,” but now I love her. She was spectacular! What can I say about Joni Mitchell…one of my idols from my youth. But Taylor — Taylor was EVERYTHING! Standing up and singing along with every performer’s song. When does she have time to learn all those songs? Watching her support all the other artists, you can see why everyone (but MAGA) loves her. This was one of the best grammy shows I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot of them!
