Don’t know if it will be as important as Downton Abbey, but scenery, sets, costumes are all so divine, I would watch it without the dialogue. No, I wouldn’t, but yes, gorgeous to look at; just hope plot catches up to the same caliber. Also, I agree w/Alien about Carrie Coon. She is so much better than this. I hope it wasn’t a mistake casting her as Mrs. Russell. Maybe her character will experience profound growth throughout the series. Agnes, too, oh brother! Baranski plays Agnes brilliantly, but my favorite, so far, is Cynthia Nixon as Ada. I have NEVER cared for CN, didn’t like her Sex in the City role <maybe why. Anyway, try it out, esp if you love extravagant set design & beautiful gowns.

Thank you, Capt, I appreciate the history lesson.
Alien, is that you being mean? (insert emoji blowing you a kiss b/c I cannot find the nmad emojis here) Here: oxoxox :)
Would you agree, though, that set and wardrobe are magnificent? I hated the D Abbey clothes - bad fashion era.
It is entirely period accurate, the snobbishness of the New York Elite has always been more in your face then the quiet stiff upper lip of the British aristocracy. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be watching.
It definitely doesn’t have the style and elegance of Downton Abbey and the acting from Carrie Coon leaves a lot to be desired. The snobbishness is very in your face, not subtle and well practiced like the Crawley family. It’s all about one-upmanship. I don’t see how family members can stand each other.
I will not be watching again.
Yeh, it’s called The Gilded Age b/c of all the money and snobbery. It definitely doesn’t have the nuance of D Abbey, but I love just LOOKING at everything. Bet it cost a fortune developing.
A look at how the future could be. Kept my interest throughout. Has several well-known actors/actresses. I agree w/other reviewers, it was similar to Black Mirror. Most of us will have to use our noggins, but it’s not overly complicated. I give it 4/5 stars.
How many people here on this website does this show give representation
Love it! Robin Wright has become a great director. Some call this slow, but I was interested every second. I usually hate long silences, but the scenery is just SO gorgeous I would watch this again just for the beauty of the setting. As for theme, again - beautiful but the underlying tragedy is emotional and very painful. (That should say “tragedies.”) Check it out if you love nature, mountains, living off the land, etc! It’s not all gloom and doom. =)
Great documentary! My heart goes out to the women; I want to drive down to Florida and be Barbara’s daughter or sister or best friend! She reminds me a lot of my sweet Mum. Very entertaining film. Thanks to Primewire for providing it!! oxox
Also, the 90s aren’t generally known as some idyllic decade to begin with. politics, economy, civil rights. All a terrible mess.
Not a mess to me. Best years of my life. I will say that the Oklahoma City Bombing was horrible, but the economy among other things was on the up for me and my family/friends. The 2000’s have been exciting, terrifying, upsetting, weird, HOPEful for a bit, then down, down, down the drain: a mess.
So after watching part1 when I just finished watching part2, I’d say I prefer this one more, perhaps it because it was much more funnier to me. And yes you can still miss out on Part 1 and enjoy Part2 just the same and not feel lost. At least I didn’t because they did provide some back story. Nice little movies for the weekend, regardless..Happy Camper I AM
Tell me if I guess right —- Yoda!?..Serious now. Do you think I should watch the first? I already watched this one. Just curious! :)
The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard.
Starring:
Deadpool
Nick Fury
Ajak
and Crossbones
Scrolled past this a thousand times - I confess, I judged this film by it’s cover. ;) But thanks to all y’all’s comments, I looked closer to see it has 3 of my favorite actors! By the way, the red Valentino dress - talk about great advertising! ..Nothing I’ve watched lately has made me really LOL until the Olympics & this movie. My one complaint is the low sound. Part of it is my computer but I can’t change my audio drive. Stupid questions, probably, but if you download then upload links to PW, does the audio on your side affect the sound we get w/links here? I’m old so I’m probably just deaf! :D Recommend 4/5
Welllll, I like it! I WILL LOVE it. I appreciate being able to watch now; it’s just too dark. But I’m looking forward to a DVD version! This film is an artful & modern interpretation of the classic tale of Sir Gawain and The Green Knight which can be (sorta) considered a spin off of Le Morte d’Arthur/Camelot/Excalibur. If anyone has trouble understanding the movie (especially because the filmmaker takes a lot of poetic license), I can give you a link to an excellent article that is both a quick explanation of the film -and if you want to know more - a mini refresher course about legends of knights, chivalry, Christianity, magic, the Dark & Middle Ages & how it’s all entangled. It makes everything perfectly clear. More of y’all will then like, maybe even love, the movie! ;) P.S. Don’t be afraid to say it’s nonsensical b/c it IS without the background knowledge. Who remembers all of Senior year English Lit?! =) Cheerio!
I do much better with captions, as have suffered hearing loss after head injuries. I wish all shows/movies had them. Thanks for the emotional warning <3 Aloha
ALOHA, NoelCoyotebleu! So funny, I had a handle similar to yours on a different site….Great minds! =) I do much better w/subs also. My R side hearing was injured by chronic infection. Now both are a bit lame, so if I want to know all names, settings, mini-plots, then subtitles are my jam too! And we are very grateful to uploaders taking the time to include subs. TY TY Ty!!
Good movie but a Tough watch. Next time you start feeling like your life is so hard and unbearable, watch this movie and re-evaluate. I felt more anger toward the parents than anything. Sad Deal.
TX2, I couldn’t agree more! It was so sad, but throughout whenever the kid figured out a solution, it was such a joy to see! So it’s heartbreaking but with little victories throughout and even a few funny moments. My family probably thought I’d lost my mind - giggling one minute then blubbering so much (at the inevitable).
Based on your experience with this movie, I am intrigued. It’s also on my watch list. Will respond back to you once I’ve seen it. :-)
That would be great! Hope you like it too. Warning: subtitles, but as I told NoelC above, it’s such a good movie it’s worth it. But if you’re sensitive, be ready to cry! Let us know what you think, enjoy77 (too:)!
wow.. thank you I will put on watch list.
You are so welcome, NC! Forgot to mention it’s foreign but subtitles are included. I find it gets easier as I go, of course I’d rather not read if I didn’t have to. This was so good, though, I’m just glad I took a chance on it. Enjoy! (Or, well, have Kleenex handy!)
Thanks EchotaChick. I cried my eyes out for about an hour of this hour and half long movie.
You’re welcome MsDuhMeanor, but I’m sorry it made you cry so much! I had read something about the movie so was prepared. Still, I ugly cried for maybe 15 minutes during the climatic scenes and the conclusion. Oh man!
I would like to move here. But only if I can bring my guns. I am an American, after all.
No doubt! You’d have to have appropriate protection. I’d love to see our Grizzlies, but I’m not heading out into the Alaskan wilderness w/out a high-powered shotgun.
OMG!!!! This is really boring! I don’t understand what all the fuss is about???? I was never keen to watch this because of all the hype but I actually ran out of things to watch so here I am! I managed to sit through the first 4 episodes and almost fell asleep. It’s very slow and so far really uneventful storywise :( I don’t know if this show is a slow burner that takes at least One season before you can get into it but I’m not sure if I want to waste another 6 hours to find that out :( :( YAWN!
You’re an astute observer! It does take awhile to get your teeth into it. S1 has to tell a story but there are sooo many characters to introduce. Also lots of mentions about things that seem out of context, but that later make sense. (Had many a-ha! moments:) I liked S1 lots, but it wasn’t until the latter half S1 and subsequent seasons that GOT was a 10/10 consistent favorite. And there’s something for everyone! Nearly every genre fits (outside kids’ stuff). If you care to continue with GOT, peek at the family or character “trees,” maps and other guides online that I sometimes had to reference for understanding - not chat rooms or opinions, “just the facts, ma’am” sources. Heartbreaking, iconic, & shocking scenes are coming, leading to an epic showdown! I don’t know how the crew managed to film the huge battles in this fictional world, but it’s impressive. Lastly, I used CC a lot; it helped with dialects, names, & comprehension. Anyone on the fence, try GOT. My college-aged son finally watched while “sheltered-in” & it’s become his all-time favorite. Now, I have to ask HIM about puzzling events. =)
Great series! Kept my interest throughout and I learned a lot! Thanks Primewire for this gem I’d missed in 2015; that it’s 5 years old doesn’t seem to age it at all. The only thing that could’ve made it better - David Attenborough announcing. Bonus: CC available in English.
Shout out to this episode with weird weather phenomena! Was in the same path of tornadoes as Lauren. We were lucky - the vortex jumped over our house but a few next door neighbors didn’t survive. The town just north of us was wiped off the map. I’m pretty sure this is when I developed PTSD; trying not to think about it doesn’t make it go away. Cannot begin to imagine how our Australian friends have dealt with the aftermath of last year’s fires. Oh, and thanks, Pandemic! :/ Stay safe, friends!
There has to be something related to our magnetosphere or gravity or Radioactive elements in ground. I would love to believe that there is an alien base underground or operating above the ranch but…..
I am definitely into UFOlogy, but some of this evidence is bizarre.
The tic-tac/go fast UFOs are most likely advanced anti-gravity black projects whipped up at skunkworks…
I hadn’t thought about that possibility. I mean, I don’t think we’re there yet, but if we are, those released videos are the PERFECT way to scare mutilated cows out of state enemies. (I realize you posted a year ago, but if you’re around, do you believe Bob Lazar? Goodness gracious! His is now the first name when you google “Bob”!=)
This is starting to get REALLY interesting !!!! I really hope something starts to give everyone some insight to what is going on !!!!!!
I agree!! Maybe there’s really something to all of this. I don’t think they’re lying or faking anything, especially now that the Navy has released video w/UAP’s. There’s been way too much weirdness, or “high strangeness,” as they call it.
This is starting to get REALLY interesting !!!! I really hope something starts to give everyone some insight to what is going on !!!!!!
Screen flickering in Windows 10 is usually caused by a display driver issue or incompatible app. To determine whether a display driver or app is causing the problem, check to see if Task Manager flickers. Not sure if will help, but I thought it might help you guys and gals
1st, maybe it’s crazy but I dig this show! My favorite character is the aerospace engineer played by Travis Taylor. Kidding! He’s for real. Love him! My favorite story line is the constant tension b/t Dr Taylor and that poor Dragon fella. [Dragon bless your heart, if you’re reading this, please, just don’t talk while cameras roll]. The tension is so obvious, it’s distracting. Also, it’s Dragon’s fault. But Thanks Be to rewind! (plus, More Travis!:) As with Oak Island, we soo want a huge, history-changing discovery. Alas, it’s doubtful, but this is still a fun watch!
If you’re into lab-testing ‘n stuff… this might be the diggity. ‘Cuz, its kinda like a UFO version of Oak Island, a zillion stories and digging. Dig. Dig. Debate and more Diggity. No one expects a spaceship to pop out of a hole (nor a golden chalice on Oak Island). And yet I’m totally onboard and here for it every week - and there’s no explanation for that anomaly either.
“No explanation for that anomaly either,” nearly spewed my Coke, Sunglasses Dude(tte?)! Shades?? Is Elon Musk your dad?!!;) Just Kidding! JK! I love your name and am jealous! ..I know, I love this show so much. It’s in the top 5 I look forward to weekly. That’s a sad lament on the state of TV, is it not? I used to ADORE Oak Island but it bores me straight to sleep now. They need a new show runner or producer or someone to come in and save them. I see bad resemblances of OI in SoSR. Some very privileged person must’ve seen great ratings and viewership ~Season 2 or 3 w/OI and thought: “We have a winning formula! Apply to all H Channel shows!” Ppl tried early telling Boss that the formula was just making for a faster snowball to a Hot climate, but they learned their lesson before they were fired (hey, more heat to melt snow). Now everyone’s too scared to tell Boss (bet it’s that announcer) he’s ruining the already laughable network. Call it Fake History? ..Oh yehhh, 1st on this yo-yo list was Ancient Aliens, another love/hate affair for sure. Anyway, I hope this show stays interesting at least and that they’ll know when to hang it up once it’s not. ;) Sorry to Ramble On.
Not sure why the low rating here, but I think Hunters is GREAT, especially in comparison with most recent TV offerings. If you like documentaries and programs like 60 Minutes and/or Australian Story (or 60 Minutes Australia!:) give this a try. Topics vary; I love episodes 1 & 3, and E2 is interesting but a little slow-paced to be such an exciting adventure! Of course, we have only 3 eps so far. I’ll addendum later if I must. :)
Aisha, The Queen Hunter, goddess, my newest heroine. GREAT episode! 5/5
As I’m currently speechless but want to share this jewel of a movie, I’ll just say that I agree with every quote on the cover. From, “prepare to be blown away,” and “a stunning piece of cinema,” to “a kind of filmmaking miracle that boggles the mind.” And on down the line. I didn’t want this movie to end, and I rarely ever say that.
same to you crane. It’s astounding how many people are affected by greed for sure. My daughter was born addicted and I have to live with that gilt for the rest of my life. I still remember the doctor telling me oh don’t worry we will just ween her off when she’s born. There won’t be any last effects. It was gut wrenching to see her be “weened”. Who knows what lasting effects it has as I’ve come to learn they haven’t done any studies on it
I’m so sorry for the pain you’ve endured, yellow rose. I think if everybody could see and hear, in person, our stories, they wouldn’t be so quick to judge and blame. As I told crane, it’s not black or white. There’s plenty of blame to go all around. Now, we’re just killing off another group of “nobodies,” so who cares? It’s sad.
Oh gosh, thanks crane! I’m fine but worried about others who’ve been VERY hurt by the demonization of all pain meds and EVerybody connected to them. It’s not black or white. You hit the nail on the head, too, “It’s hard to even keep track of all the ways,” people are getting shanked. Lord help us!!
Sorry about your friend, Crane. How about the new victims of the Crisis: now we have millions of people in real pain who commit suicide or just wish they were dead, all because the whole country freaked out and threw us babies out with the bath water. I.e., can’t get meds b/c other people took advantage of the system. I love this country but not nearly as much as I used to.
guess that’s rhetorical, but actually watched them all that’s why I rated it like that, btw I am entitled to MY opinion which I still do stand by
2 episodes in. So far, so good! Huge thanks to PW uploaders, linkers, mods, etc., for all that you do!
Great start! Going straight into my beloved, albeit very short, list of Current Favorite Series. Theroux is terrific; he can be soft, subtle and laid back - then a force of nature. He seems comfortable as Allie and it’s good to see him laugh! George and the kids are good, too. The four are believable as a nuclear unit, even if we don’t yet know why they’re in a quandary. My one complaint: long, wordless takes of characters staring at who-knows-what. If that’s entertainment, I can turn off the show and watch MY nuclear unit. ;D
4/5 as long as the daughter doesn’t make any dumb moves going further. Though I do suspect she is the weak link in that chain. Btw, I’m on the side of the family..and I want to know what he did; it better not be like stole the White house’s pet
VERY refreshing & highly satisfying end for episode 2!
His mama: “What did you do to him?!” Answer: “What you should’ve done 40 years or 6 wives ago, lady!!”
Thumbs up for telling a story I hadn’t already heard. But what an evil man. No telling what else that monster did. My one complaint: it seems that these interviewees are directed to talk as slowly as possible & to repeat things. They’re not dumb people, so to the directors - stop. It’s your fault if you can’t find enough material to produce. I wish I could tell Eric that his & his sister’s eyes carry a light their father never had & not to let that man steal another second of the gift of life. Thank you, uploaders & Primewire peeps!
I read all the comments. My only addition: why the Stranger Things soundtrack?
First, thanks PW Team for all you do! (Love docs)! This topic: fascinating and worthy of earnest debate beyond the juvenile worship of The Matrix and Minecraft (love Matrix trilogy!). A few of the presenters - or “avatars” - tell us more about this documentary than I can express at this late hour; words of the real, adult people are more compelling. Kids trying to teach us this stuff? Well, consider young Joshua. Seeing his mom’s face explode really messed him up! So much so, well, he deserved an ice cold Coke and a team of lawyers. 2+/5 stars for the effort and tough subject matter
yes well we are absurdly oversupplied with musicians here everyone wanted at least for a minit to be a rock god lol
so some pretty talented guys will end up doing jingles for adverts or themes for tv etc
I love the arts! It’s so weird that you mention musicians: I JUST watched 60 Minutes Australia (which I love as much as our US version!), and a musician was talking about how bad the year has been for his company. He played solo violin in that gorgeous Opera House for viewers, but was happy to finally sell tickets b/c y’all have done a great job fighting this virus. Be careful, though! Y’all are my homies (well, almost. My mom & I seriously considered moving to AUS in the ‘80s).
hiya :)
I tried out of curiosity .. I dont know it are you sure it wasnt writ just for this show?
Thanks so much for trying! It may have been. I put up to 6 - 8 lines of lyrics into a search engine and came up with nothing. Song is STILL in my head! Maybe I’ll get sick of it. :)
Aussie Friends! Hi! We need your help! Hi music experts, too! Does anyone know the artist/title of the theme song in this series? It’s haunting me!!!!! =)
Noooo!!! To the person who felt tricked into watching a “teen romance,” don’t skip these last episodes - they are wonderfully acted and the story is far from a teen romance. Beautiful scenery, of course. So good! I hope this family gets another episode or season to see how the Duttons settle. Of course, we all want to know about Sam now, too.
