I’m hopeful this will be good! I keep in mind imo ATLA is at the very least top 3 cartoons of all time and to temper my expectations, ‘cause even if this was good it wouldn’t match the cartoon.

So, any comments from women about this film? Or is it just “men” hating on a film with all female cast?

Yes actually, unless this is a rhetorical question.

You disagree with how the movie affected me! lol I didn’t know that is how this exchange of thoughts and feelings work. If you say you feel hungry can I disagree and tell you what you are really feeling is the need to pick your nose?

If you’re jokingly comparing my boogers to food, sure. I’m not the boss of you

I tried I really did but, my body kept making me do things like right clicking on yahoo to check the weather for the next 10 days or scooping the clean litter box again.

Euringer 3 points 2 months ago.

I can’t help but disagree! This movie was bad and very boring in a fascinating, can’t take my eyes off it sort of way. Every scene full of more hammy exposition made me think “This money could have been spent on the next 18 years of operating costs for 5 schools, and instead it was spent here”

TBF I think the movie was shelved for a bit after the LDS church turned on him and the investigations in to him coercing vulnerable women/raping others started, but I’m not sure if the Mormons run Disney and can get films banned.

This seems like an unnecessary semantics argument. Of course it’s a sport, sports are things we do for fun. Of course they’re pro sportsman, their job is playing for money and sacrificing their bodies as much or more than many athletes. Fade to Black (2017)
grasshopper rex 9 points 4 months ago*.

A great watch. You hear so much about freedoms, personal rights, and body autonomy, but almost nothing about a person’s right to take their own life in a painless, serene, and effective method. I’d go even further than those who advocate for legalized voluntary euthanasia for those with terminal ailments and say that every person should have that right for any reason. Granted, if you’re suicidal there should be a cool-down period and a psychiatric consultation required first. Someone who is truly suicidal deserves better options than putting a gun barrel in their mouth or any of the other myriad means of doing so that only add more suffering for someone weary of their painful existence.

Euringer 4 points 4 months ago.

Definitely of two minds on the subject due to personal relations. I guess a good current compromise would be to have suicidally depressed people undergo serious therapy and counciling before giving them the drug. I think suicides are possibly the most important gun control issue and I can’t imagine us handling chemical death terribly more responsibly in the US currently.

Flat and flat. I honestly do like the guy. But there hasn’t been one thing that I’ve liked so far. If he was so good in Superman, he wouldn’t of got booted. No one really cared for him as Superman.

Highlander
Alien 3 points 4 months ago*.

He was very passionate about sticking to the book. (The Witcher)

Euringer 3 points 4 months ago.

Indeed, and the rumor I’ve never seen substantiated is that he got in to a recent shouting match with a producer about it. I just think given that he’s always been about the story, maybe it wasn’t worth keeping him around anymore if he was going to be both vacant for a bit from obligations and vocal - as opposed to some internal drama and conflict.

Highlander
Alien 1 points 4 months ago*.

Right there! That’s how rumors get started. Why you making stuff up?
I don’t believe that’s the REAL reason for a second. And there is no WE.

Euringer 2 points 4 months ago.

Imo the very simple answer is he’s doing a lot of stuff. He wants to be Bond, and between his reuniting with Guy Ritchie and him also doing two non-Ritchie spy movies within a year I think that intention is obvious. Then he just has a bunch of other stuff on, including a grimdark scifi series Amazon supposedly bought for him to produce and star in between his being fired from Superman and The Witcher.

You’re ‘just saying’ nothing. It’s just a broad political generalization with no basis on the movie itself.

The Brainwashing of My Dad (2016)

Notice how the left gets upset when this is pointed out. Government propaganda at its finest and they swallow it hook, line and sinker. They must control the narrative at all costs now that they no longer do. Today they attack conservative media fervently for destroying the narratives they create. It isn’t working. It grateful that some of these propagandists are falling by the wayside…one by one.

Uh, even the person you’re trying to argue on behalf of knows the line is “Wendy, I’m home” not “Honey, I’m home”. Weird way to flex your big bwain tbh.

Lead Me Home (Short 2021) (2021)
grasshopper rex 5 points 5 months ago.

In the wealthiest nation on the planet, how is the epidemic of homelessness now plaguing us NOT the top poltical issue?

Euringer 4 points 5 months ago.

Considering banks are paying tens of billions in property taxes (or should be and probably aren’t) and upkeep on over 7 million empty homes, and that we’ve seen recently it takes less than half a million dollars to bribe US senators I think the ‘how’ is glaringly obvious. The why is a bit more nebulous to me ‘cause I’d think some wealthy capitalist would be able to make bank on a scheme providing the 500k homeless these cheap as hell homes with government subsidied utilities and infrastructure.

People with modern upbringing in western society, before they get children, is like dots.. Everything revolves around them self.
Some, when they get children, understand that they are a line between the past and the future. Very little in our media world or even social world support that responsible thinking and identity building.
In old time people identified with principles and philosophy and ideals to the point they were prepared to sacrifice them self for it. Now thou things are “Evil” if they are uncomfortable or does not provide immediet status or reward.
This is a societal failure and they know not better.

Even thou, the consequence of their prevalence is terribly destructive to earth. Possible to the point of ecological suicide by folly and insecurity and instagram and facebook.
I feel like a god damned hostage on earth right now.

Supposedly, they are gender swapping the lead role and while I don’t see what the problem with that is, the anti-woke crowd are already getting their panties in a twist about it. Personally, I don’t see the point of remaking something that is a mirror copy of the original.

Euringer 4 points 6 months ago.

I can kind of get attempting to beat-for-beat remake or adapt, but usually I’m with you. Logan’s Run is a good book and your imagination is more capable of expressing that to you in vivid images personalized to your preferences than a director that’s never met you no matter what choices they end up making in telling the story visually.

Ahsoka (2023) S1 E5
grasshopper rex -1 points 7 months ago.

What part did they rewrite?

Euringer 1 points 7 months ago*.

I’m interested in this too. Dave Filoni co-created Ahsoka along with Lucas, and his writing (The Clone Wars, Ahsoka the novel) has Ahsoka as a 14-year-old being flirted with by both a male and a female and not knowing how to react to either. At this point according to the person who continues to write the character from the beginning we have no clue what her actual preferences are for lots of things because she’s spent basically her whole life at war.

then you don’t care to know what the word woke means — to be AWAKE to the injustice around you and not have your head in the sand. the co-opting of the word by people who are fearful of change has people using it when they mean PC or Black or LGBTQ or whatever. WOKE has been around since at least the late 70s.

I apologize, I thought the last sentence made clear I was being sarcastic. I tune in to Star Trek to see how a utopian, post-racial, post-capitalism society deals with issues that challenge their morals on whatever the current progressive popular ideas are. If you all have a problem with people being politically correct or mindful- Star trek is not the franchise for you. I may be remembering wrong (I’ve only ever re-watched the first one) but it seems this movie had more unique transformations than the previous films. If that’s true it’d explain why this cost 35million more than the other main Transformers and supposedly twice as much as Bumblebee. But the weird thing about the movie not having visible stars is how famous and presumably well paid the voice cast was for some pretty meh performances.

TBF, I think the left does it too with hot button social issues that I agree with, but distract us while questionable economic policies are pushed through with little fanfare. Policies that affect everyone not in the top 1%.

Euringer 5 points 1 year ago.

Oh yeah, that’s the point of wedge issues - you pick something that the majority might agree on that only affects a minority, and that entices 900-year-old politicians to pretend they’re down with the kidz while literally accepting money from the people who are profiting directly off of pure division.
