GAH DAM BOI! This is banger from start to end. A must watch if you have or haven’t seen the films. Trust this internet stranger, i wouldn’t lie to you!

Star Trek: Discovery (2017) S2 E14
IAmHaskins 1 points 2 years ago.

I haven’t watched Season 3 or the newest season yet and from what S1 & 2 have given me, is a sorta of satisfaction with this show. I loved the S1 twist and i love how this season played into the original series without breaking it or reconing it. Altho im sure there are people who have and still complain about it not being “faithful” to the shows original funkshway, i can not however complain. Its very good and the ending leaves me with fantastic ideas of the fate with Discovery. But i also feel like i would ruin that feeling by watching the later seasons. Still a good watch if you’re not a die hard fan of Star Trek.

But i also feel like i should leave it here with the ending of S2. I know at least S3 and on will focus on them in the future and that might be good but should i perhaps ruin my Wim sickle daydreaming of the possibilities of wh

I have to give this one credit. :ost a lot of interest in King on account of some of his later work, as well as some of the things he has said recently, but a lot of his early work was really good, and this book is a prime example of that. Think this is one of his very best books actually. I just hope that when it comes out they took the time and effort to do it justice, as more often then not his work is never really translated to the screen well.

They don’t take the time they need to pay the appropriate attention to detail I think, or give the time needed to tell his stories right. They tend to try and cram too much into too short a time period, and they miss way too much. Hoping they don’t do that with this, just take the time needed to tell the story the way it should be told. They do that, and get the right actors, and this will turn out really well…

IAmHaskins 1 points 2 years ago.

I agree. The thing i don’t like with adaptations, is when the writers think they know better then the author and cram in something else when it can take away from the original story. The Mist is a short story, that didn’t end the way it did in the movie. Altho you can argue that this is an example of when changing an ending ‘works’ but the short story left it open ended unlike the movie. So instead of giving us ideas of what else can happen, we just assume its over, the humans prevail end of story. His book Thinner, is another example of writers changing the ending for whatever reason. The ending in the book is dark, and so is the movies ending. But the book delivers a clear message where the movie is just, haha its a dark movie, people are evil blah blah.

I agree that they need to take their time. Stop changing shit and give us the original vision. I would hate to see what they would do to an adaptation of Amnesia if they just let them butcher that book. So many things can go wrong if they change even one thing.

I can’t say im ‘looking forward to it” since i was not a fan of the book. A lot of whining happened that turned me away. But ill always give Stephen King a chance, book, show or movie

“This show is terrible so i must tell everyone so” who cares, don’t watch it, move on with your life blah blah blah

Clarice (2021) S1 E3
IAmHaskins 0 points 2 years ago.

After 3 episodes i have to say that, this show is great at presenting a problem, but is in fact, terrible at resolving them. The whole soda can irritated me to no end because it comes down to, forceful plot progression. If this show wasn’t a mainstream channel show and was given ampule time to progress the characters and their individual problems, it could be a far better show. Ima keep watching though. Maybe i’ll be convinced otherwise.

Cry Macho (2021)
IAmHaskins 5 points 2 years ago.

I watched this on HBO and i am thinking i watched a completely different movie from the comments here. This movie was boring and at times made no sense with the dialogue and editing. Im not saying Clint is terrible, but this movie sure isn’t on par with some of these posts…4/10

Pokémon: The First Movie - Mewtwo Strikes Back (1998)
IAmHaskins 3 points 2 years ago.

I was the perfect age for pokemon when it was released. My parents even shilled out for my brother and i to have not only our own gameboy color, but to have all three of the originals: Pokemon Yellow, Red and Blue. They even bought us a strategy guide to use that gave us a lot to do. I just wish i didn’t have to grow up. I still love pokemon but with my adult brain that swims with the adult world of news and politics. It keeps me from enjoying simple things anymore. Why do we have to kill our inner childs when we grow up? Why cant we just be peaceful and happy

WandaVision (2021)
IAmHaskins 2 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

For all those who are wondering why the show is wrapped up in a sit-com style show, i may have a possible answer for that question.

Wanda and Pietro were born in Sokovia which in the MCU is a third world country, ravaged by war and corruption and so on. And like a lot of other third world countries one of the interesting things is their tv programs where you would find that a lot of places in the world still show old sit-com shows on tv from way back like Dick Van Dyke, I Love Lucy and shows like Dallas(this was a huge show in Southern America decades after the show ended) and others. This is, in my opinion a nice nod to the Maximoff twins growing up watching these American television shows of what its like to have a family in the suburbs of America.

So if im right, this is Wanda’s recreation of those popular sit-coms intertwined with the ideal life she always wanted for her and her brother, especially for her and Vision after they fell in love. And with his death to Thanos, leaving her in a pit of despair, she simply said duck that and took over West View as her own home.

Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
IAmHaskins 5 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

This movie was a let down compared to the first film. Although the ending to the first movie was unfortunate.
For this movie there was a lot of things that i liked but mostly disliked. For one i loved how they showed Steve, just enthralled into the 80’s. Anything and everything was exciting to him and it felt genuine. Diane who at this point has went 70 years without Steve and still feels like she lost him the day before. I understand loss but 70 years of it was to much time to has stayed motionless on someone she barely knew to begin with.

The two main problems were the bad guys. Maxwell was an interesting character and i understand his goal of using the crystal but then he just went way over the top and i still don’t understand the reasoning for it. Like why not just wish for oil in his reserves and then just go on to be rich? There really wasn’t a need for the over the top ‘villainy’ vibe to be honest. As for Kristen Wigs character… like why was she in it? She had no part in this film to have made sense. She’s WW’s arch villain and she just gets reduced to corky, shy girl who gets a chance to be cool and sexy but then decides to just go full cheetah and then only gets 2 mins of screen time?

Then there were two things that stood out to me that just didn’t make any sense. First off why did she need the gold suit of armor? In the trailer it made it seem like she was gonna go up against something big that would require it right? But she doesn’t.. She refunds her wish and gets her powers back but at that point she doesn’t know Barbara’s character received more power from Maxwell so there was no reason to get it other then to look cool?.. it seems like there should have been more to it then just being fancy.

And then there was the final scene with Maxwell when Diane had the lasso on his foot.. Like how? That kind of thing just throws you from the film entirely and makes you cringe at it like hard.. Like why not show her throw the lasso one last time, wrapping it on his foot and then start the dialogue?? He doesn’t know its power, he has no clue what it does so why not use it as a way to get him to see she’s ‘weak’ and then boast about his power? That would work out the same way that doesn’t involve ‘ex-machina-lasso’..

If you liked this movie, awesome. Im not here to shit on the film and make it out to be a horrible thing. Im just sad it wasn’t as big as the first film.

Also i went into this movie a little tilted only because they retconned her story from BvS… Like you can’t say she backed away from humanity for 100 years and then expect everyone she saves to keep her secret…………………. barf

Heavenly Creatures (1994)

This is, without a doubt one of the best movies i ever seen. Its now nestled in my top 10 of all time. Peter Jackson did a fantastic job highlighting the two girls friendship and relationship. I didn’t know of the story before watching and i urge anyone to watch this before reading up on the events. Its a sad story and one that has already died out long ago. And even though it put me into a post watch depression for a few days, i’m happy i got to see it. Don’t just watch this film, immerse yourself into the two girls lives as i did. God dam its so good.

1000 props to the writers of this show. For not giving into the ol’ cw drama and actually giving us something that has weight in their words. This was a solid episode

This a sure must watch. Listened to this case on the murder squad with Paul Holes and Billy Jenson. Holes worked with Michelle McNamara on her book before she died and was a lead investigator on The Golden State Killer cold case. If you check out their podcast they’ll tell you about the guy, where they were when they got the news about him and how they caught him after DNA evidence sealed his fate after decades of hiding. Crazy good stuff.

Its a good idea. But like all good ideas, its getting people to conform to that idea. And lets be honest, at this point anything we try that will break the status quo from BIG GOV will just attack it with hot buzz words like “Communist” or mix it with the “Deep State” and now you have ever extremist believing its part of the “Kabul” or whatever new thing they make up

4 and a half hours that took up a weeks worth of history class seemed like a dream until youre watching more then a decade later wondering why the battle hasn’t taken place two hours into the movie lol. I gotta make a self note to check the movie length when it comes to history films.

DC's Stargirl (2020)

I have a feeling this show will turn out like the other CW DC shows as well as Riverdale. This season only has 7 episodes which will mean most of the writing will start and stop here. After this season it will pick up another and be given the 18-20 episode seasons which will thin out the potential it had. Sad really

If this show somehow(It won’t) is given a plot focused treatment then this will become the CW’s best show. But we’ll see

I was worried this show wasn’t gonna feature men as wizards/witches in this show but i was wrong on that front which makes this show even better. No point in wasting an opportunity like that. I hope this show picks up another season. I can see this becoming a huge hit if given the chance

Ill never understand the enjoyment of this film. If she really loved him, she would have told the truth and been done with it. But i guess that wouldn’t make sense since it would then be a happy ending?…

I’m glad i watched this one. Was thinking it would be the new aged M.A.S.H.and although i don’t think that might be what they were shooting for it still turned out really good. Also that ending with Roback and Alverez was fiiire. Was waiting for that all season!
