Same old, same old, same old… Rehashed plots, tired characters, and boring devices. There are no original scriptwriters left in Hollywood. Thank god for death, or we would be forced to watch John Wayne roundup cattle rustlers.

Whereas I see all the similarities (right down to the “reckoning”) this is far more interesting than that M. Night Shyamalan disasterpiece. lol But this is an Epix original and they usually put out decent stuff.

LesStrater 2 points 2 years ago.

If you do a quick check, you’ll find this plot was also a reoccurring theme on The Twilight Zone.

From (2022)
LesStrater 11 points 2 years ago.

I’ve watched the first episodes and will continue to watch unless it turns ridiculous. If you read the synopsis you’ll see it’s a familiar plot. It reminds me of ‘Wayward Pines’ back in 2015.

Mad Cow Disease: The Great British Beef Scandal (2019)
LesStrater 3 points 2 years ago.

Absolutely amazing and very scary documentary.

1313: Billy the Kid (2012)
Dayv 1 points 2 years ago.

Possibly the greatest western and quite possibly the greatest film ever made as you can tell from the far superior poster art, i have watched this masterpiece 179 times today alone and and intend on never watching anything else ever again as it will never live up to the pure brilliance of this movie

LesStrater 2 points 2 years ago.

Upon your review I had to give it a go. Besides, I never pass up a movie in sepia-tone! Only 178 more viewings to go…

Our Boys (2019)
etim 1 points 2 years ago*.

Some of them are ‘the boys’ but some ARE ‘our boys’
I reported the bad ones I checked—didn’t try many tho..

LesStrater 1 points 2 years ago.

This is an amazing docu-drama, it really needs to be correct. Cross fingers…

Our Boys (2019)
LesStrater 1 points 2 years ago.

Wrong show! If you look at the name on the videos, this is “The Boys”, not “Our Boys”.

Yellowjackets (2021)
Peevee 1 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

It’s probably closer to “The Wilds” on Amazon Prime.

LesStrater -1 points 2 years ago.

I’m guessing you’re too young to have read “Lord of the Flies” in high school…

Here Today (2021)
LesStrater -1 points 2 years ago.

Really great Rom-Com style movie with excellent acting and well done interaction between characters. The comedy and plot are very close to perfect. 9/10

Old Henry (2021)
LesStrater 1 points 2 years ago.

A good western well worth a watch. A bit slow to set up the plot, but once it gets going it moves along at a good pace. 8/10

The Protégé (2021)
LesStrater 3 points 2 years ago.

Yes, as previously noted, it’s your standard female assassin movie. I think the producers thought they could make it standout buy placing it in an Asian country—that didn’t make much of a difference. Still, it is worth a one-time watch if you’re looking for an action flick with some famous actors. 6.5/10

Gunpowder Milkshake (2021)
LesStrater 1 points 2 years ago.

Yes it’s a lot of action, but it’s also very corny and slapstick. I can’t recommend it, but if it’s your type of movie you’ll know within the first 20 minutes. 6/10

Jolt (2021)
LesStrater 0 points 2 years ago.

Really stupid. I made it half-way before I had to bail. If you think Kate Beckinsale is hot you might enjoy this—because it’s the only redeeming quality. 3/10

The Duke (2022)
LesStrater 1 points 2 years ago.

Typical dry British humor. It’s a very slow plot and doesn’t really get interesting until after the first hour. If you stay awake that long you’ll most likely find it quite enjoyable. 6/10

Pig (2021)
LesStrater 1 points 2 years ago.

I wanted to like this, but it was so bad I could only make it halfway through. Bad script, bad acting, nothing made any sense at all. 2/10

Angel and the Bad Man (2009)
LesStrater 2 points 2 years ago.

Bad casting and bad acting. Do yourself a favor and watch the original 1947 John Wayne version, or the 2002 remake called ‘The Outsider’. 1/5

Gettysburg (1993)
Vman 1 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Here is what makes me laugh about this propaganda. Queen Victoria said NO to slavery in the 1800s and being the super power at that time, everyone had to follow. Franklin did not suddenly, out of ethics ect, decide to end slavery in the US, it was forced upon him…..V

LesStrater 3 points 2 years ago.

Vman, who is Franklin? You can’t mean Ben Franklin, he died in 1790. That was 73 years before the Gettysburg. (??)

Sector 7 (2011)
LesStrater 1 points 2 years ago.

This is a ripoff of the original Alien movie. It follows the same plot formula with the difference being the setting is a offshore oil platform instead of outer space. 2/5

Sophie: A Murder in West Cork (2021)
Toothless 3 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

The French parts are essential, actually, but I understand your astute ability to discern what you feel is most vital. 🙂

LesStrater 1 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Essential if you really care who the woman was as a person, I don’t. My interest is strictly in the crime story.

Sophie: A Murder in West Cork (2021)
[removed by a moderator]
LesStrater 1 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

It is a very interest true-crime history. Since none of the French speaking people were actually involved in the crime, I simply skipped forward past their parts. Doing that probably made the show more interesting as it stuck to the point and bypassed the meaningless opinions.

The Tomorrow War (2021)
LesStrater 3 points 2 years ago.

Pretty cheesy, but definitely worth a one-time watch. The plot will remind you of many previous sci-fi movies which it borrows from. 3.5/5

A Quiet Place Part II (2021)
LesStrater 2 points 2 years ago.

Terrible, a complete waste of time. They obviously didn’t listen to any of the criticism of the original movie, because they repeated all the same weak points for a second time. 2/5

Twisted Fiction (2021)
LesStrater 3 points 2 years ago.

Fans of Black Mirror will enjoy this - (based on the first episode).

Devil's Island (2021)
LesStrater 3 points 2 years ago.

Very slow, no action, and not much of a plot to even consider. If this was supposed to be some kind of ‘thriller’ it never got off the ground on any level. 3/10 (because the New Zealand scenery is beautiful).

True Life Crime UK (2021) S1 E2
LesStrater 2 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Wrong episode. This is Episode-3 about “Champion Ganda”.

The Marksman (2021)
LesStrater 3 points 2 years ago.

Pretty boring. Not a lot of action, and what there is, is just too predictable. It’s one of those “that was stupid—why didn’t he pick up the gun” movies. 5/10

Gogglebox Australia (2015) S13 E9
The Widower (2021)
Julianna 0 points 3 years ago.

This guy is so gross. I can’t stand watching him so I will refrain from watching this crap. JMO

LesStrater 1 points 3 years ago.

If you just watch the 3rd episode you get the meat of the case without all the fluff they put in.

The Venerable W. (2017)
LesStrater 0 points 3 years ago.

A waste of time without subtitles.

American Gunslingers (2017)
LesStrater 0 points 3 years ago.

Really bad acting by a bunch of no-names. I can’t recommend anything about this.

The Last Vermeer (2020)
LesStrater 2 points 3 years ago.

This movie is worth watching once, and then if you like it, go out and read the true story. If you read the book first, watching this will only frustrate you when you see all the garbage Ridley Scott threw in that never really happened. Real history is never good enough for Hollywood.

20/20 (1978) S2021 E2
loveheart 0 points 3 years ago.

they must be getting closer to the killer with DNA.

LesStrater 0 points 3 years ago.

Dr. Henry Lee says the DNA is too weak to be related to the case and probably came from a worker at the garment factory. He has tested new panties right out of the packaging and found male DNA on them.
Notice how this show doesn’t mention the brother being a suspect. They are scared to death of being sued by the Ramsey lawyer if they speak the truth.

Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Sal 10 points 3 years ago.

Terrible movie, it felt like i was watching a kids show.
Can’t believe the main actors agreed to all this bullshit.

LesStrater 5 points 3 years ago.

Yep, strictly a kids movie. You’ll enjoy it if you’re under 16. I gave up after 15 minutes.

Open Range (2003)
nursepip 0 points 3 years ago.

so Les, do you have any recommendations for those ‘looking for a good Tombstone style movie’? TY.

LesStrater 0 points 3 years ago.

Start with Silverado.

Open Range (2003)
LesStrater 2 points 3 years ago.

I think this is one of the worst westerns I have ever watched. The dialog is so ridiculous the actors can’t even recite it with conviction. That includes Costner who wrote it. Robert Duvall tries his best, but at times he appears to be ready to bust out laughing at the lines he’s required to say. If you’re looking for a good “Tombstone style” movie to watch, this is far from it, 4/10

Petra (2020)
LesStrater 1 points 3 years ago.

This is a good crime drama from Italy. I enjoyed all 4 episodes. The English subtitles are hard-coded and professionally done, which make watching more enjoyable.

neXt (2020)
LesStrater -2 points 3 years ago.

Nope, not again. I watched the first episode and that will be it. How many times can this same tired old plot be done? I can think of at least 3 successful movies with the same plot that I would rather watch again than this.

My Living Doll (1964)
LesStrater 2 points 3 years ago.

It was great to see this again, I’d completely forgotten about it. Julie was quite an amazing woman. Thanks to the uploaders!

Patria (2020)
LesStrater 6 points 3 years ago.

This is a good show from Spain. The English subtitles are professionally done, although at times they do need some quick reading. The first episode is a bit confusing and the story isn’t completely obvious until the second episode. So I recommend you watch at least the first 2 before passing judgement.

Delicacy (2011)
LesStrater 1 points 3 years ago.

The subtitle translation was done by machine, not by a human, and make no sense. Consequently, the movie is not watchable unless you are fluent in French.

Away (2020)
etim 9 points 3 years ago*.

Subscene has them. They’ll show up here after opensubs gets ‘em.

edit—If you use this one (on Subscene), you can get all 10 at once.
/subtitles/away-first-season/english/2284477

LesStrater 2 points 3 years ago.

Thanks for the subs link, they worked perfectly.

Away (2020)
LesStrater 3 points 3 years ago.

I used the subtitles from the link etim provided which worked perfectly. I watched the first 2 episodes in their entirety and was bored to death when watching all the drama parts that take place on Earth. So for the remaining 8 episodes I forwarded passed the boring Earth parts and watched only the parts set in space. It was a much more enjoyable show without all the meaningless drama.

The Girl from Nowhere (2013)
LesStrater 2 points 3 years ago.

This was bad, really bad. Perhaps if they had hired professional actors, and had more than $20 for a special-effects budget, it would have been semi-watchable.

A Killer Uncaged (2020)
LesStrater 1 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I managed to make it through all 3 episodes, however I did have to skip forward quite a few times when it got to be same thing repeated over and over again. What bothers me is a criminal being thrown back into society without any type of training to help him to navigate a world completely different than he left 30 years earlier.

Jurassic Predator (2018)
LesStrater -1 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

If you’re interested in watching a movie about a T-Rex that doesn’t have a T-Rex in it, you just found it.

The Silent Natural (2020)
LesStrater 1 points 3 years ago.

This is long and very slow. As a fan of baseball and its history it held my interest. I have a feeling it will put most people to sleep.

Waiting for the Barbarians (2020)
LesStrater -1 points 3 years ago.

This was terrible. It starts out boring and never gets any better. I stuck with it until the end just to see where it was going and the ending was pathetic. Really glad I didn’t pay to see this trash in the theater.

The Secret Garden (2020)
LesStrater 2 points 3 years ago.

A famous children’s book from 1911 that seems to get made into a movie whenever a studio doesn’t want to pay for a screenplay. A good movie to watch with your tween-age kids.
