Paradise City (2021)
MissMorgue 0 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Without giving spoilers away, the cast changes were not for the better regardless of what others might think (Granted the change that will happen for the character Simon will have to happen after the tragic loss of Cameron.)The music is about the only thing interesting about this show as I lost all interest in this shows cast of main characters. That said, there are some side characters that I am more interested in learning their back stories to, not that we’ll get the chance as this show is supposed to follow Cameron’s character of Simon. Supposedly Ash has planned for 6 seasons, but there is no word yet about what they plan to do other than work on filming season 2 this year. 2 stars - the movie was better and Ash had a serious case of Supernatural Writers Syndrom..in that he forgot what he had already written for his characters.

Frozen II (2019)

So Disney destroyed several canons they made by killing their parents officially at sea to make this movie?? Lame sauce, bad songs and terrible plot.

Ready Player One (2018)
MissMorgue 3 points 4 years ago.

If you have read the book / listened to the book do not watch this movie - it cuts out 99% of the more interesting concepts from the book and changes how things were done. Boring film.

Harriet (2019)
MissMorgue -5 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Please note when watching this film it does not accurately depict the life of Harriet Tubman - the actress who is playing her has made countless disparaging remarks about the people whose ancestors were slaves (her own ancestry has been called into question as she is from a cast of people who were in fact black slavers that sold captured people into slavery to non-black slavers)
The White Plantation owner who saves her in the film is a work of fiction as is the black slave bounty hunter who was attempting to kill her.

This film spits on the truth that is a wonderful woman who free’d countless men, women and children.

I agree. No offense, I don’t think they should have made her gay. I, personally, would prefer a single woman who dates around and maybe has a child at home. Trust me, finding someone who isn’t intimidated by that can be extremely difficult!

MissMorgue 3 points 4 years ago.

I am going to have to disagree with you, because you did offend with your comment. Because I was not at all complaining about how they made her a lesbian, I was merely commenting about the speed in which the show chose to give us this relationship.

Your comment suggests that the removal of Kate Kane’s sexuality as a open Lesbian and having her do things like having a child or being a serial dater is seriously a prefered norm. That is a warped way to state that you do not want to see people of other orientations on your screen.

Batwoman (2019) S1 E4
nikkimckelvy 1 points 4 years ago.

Beg to differ. She started out in the 1960’s as Batgirl. She was police commissioner Gordon’s daughter, and she was a potential love interest for Adam West’s batman. Besides, my comment was not about the character’s being gay so much as it is about there not being one, lead female comic book superhero who has to balance dating and/or family with supernatural powers. Yes, Wonderwoman has her man, but she doesn’t get to date around. Jessica Jones sleeps around, but you never see her in loving relationships. Susan Storm isn’t the lead. That leaves what? Alien? That’s not a comic book.

MissMorgue 0 points 4 years ago.

The character you are thinking about being the daughter of Jim Gordon is Barbara Gordon who played the character of Batgirl and she has only had a few instances of being written to be a ‘love interest’ for Batman.

FASTEST.RELATIONSHIP.EVER.

And yet even as I say this, it’s very on brand for the Lesbian stereotypes. Including the running into our ex’s EVERYWHERE.

Batwoman (2019) S1 E3

Officially the show has begun and it’s no longer a who is the dark knight, but at the same time it’s a little annoying that villians are able to guess and know who’s under the mask.

Batwoman (2019) S1 E2

See this is an episode I would have liked for the series premiere, this strange slow burn of how things come together. Very good episode, far better than the first.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)
MissMorgue 1 points 4 years ago.

I had been a huge fan of the first godzilla film and then when I heard this one was coming I was ecstatic… now of course I am finding out that Kong is apart of this franchise and I have yet to see that film. Well then I know what I am doing this next weekend.

Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
MissMorgue -1 points 4 years ago.

At first I was only going to leave a review about how funny it was to watch two different movies that feature the same man played by two men who were both on Game of Thrones. But I am leaving a review that says this is beautiful, breathtaking even. I spent the last half hour of the film crying and sang along with all the songs because they’ve been apart of my life since I was born. 10 out of 10 or full 5 stars.

The Secret Life of Pets 2 (2019)
MissMorgue 0 points 4 years ago.

That was weirder than the first, I am not sure what I just saw.. need to process this. 3 out of 5

Ghost in the Shell (2017)
ChibiFan7 1 points 4 years ago.

yeah i’ve seen all both the original movie its sequel and the SAC and the arise stuff…in my opinion all good stuff. if you haven’t guessed yet im a ghost in the shell fanatic LMAO!!!!!

MissMorgue 1 points 4 years ago.

Nah it’s cool, I am similar with certain Anime’s and Manga’s. But it’s cool seeing someone who knows the source material as well and are not blindly following the SJW’s who were doxing this movie and its starring actress long before the movie even came out. Pretty sure ScarJo is still getting doxed by them. I felt like this film fit the source material well enough that it’s a wonderful adaptation to the franchise.

Ghost in the Shell (2017)

MissMorgue 1 points 4 years ago.

I actually gave a similar review to this film on either on a older version of this site or another streaming site, I can’t remember which. The Manga, the original animated film and even the rebooted comics and television series have all had different iterations of what the Major truly was.

Bad Times at the El Royale (2018)
MissMorgue 1 points 4 years ago.

The movie plays out like an older Quinton Tarantino film, the varied chapters and slight deviations in how it plays out. The surprises about what you assumed and now what you’re seeing the more you watch of the film. The soundtrack was spot on for the era and the feel of it all was rather quirky and unexpected. I give it a full 5 stars for getting me that invested into the characters and plot lines of the film.

Glass (2019)
MissMorgue 2 points 4 years ago.

This film is highly worth a watch through, even if you’re not interested in comic books or superhero based films. this is a solid 7.5/10 from me or 4 out of 5 stars.

Tolkien (2019)
MissMorgue 1 points 4 years ago.

The film feels as though it is longer when in truth it is much shorter than it seems, which is how Tolkien wrote his books as well. They seem long and dull with to many words to describe the events of the day or the way a leaf upon a tree would look. But in fact it was precise and to the point about a brief period in the life of a man whose contributions to the realm of fantasy and make-believe was what created countless works inspired by him. Interesting film for a interesting man, you can see the beginning of each of his characters in the people who influenced his life.

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part (2019)
MissMorgue 2 points 4 years ago.

For a kids film adding in the secondary child’s imagination and showing what growing up is like through the lego pieces was interesting. Not the worst sequel ever, but not the greatest. 3 stars.

Only read the first sentence of ur reply, u seem to mbe looking for arguments wherever. I’m not here for that nonsense as I was really only stating facts. And by the way, Clark is a female so it was a gay relationship, lol.

MissMorgue 1 points 4 years ago.

As stated, I have not seen The 100 and have no desire to see it; so my knowledge of any character in the show is entirely lacking. Including that of naming a female character with a traditionally male name.. Assuming that I was seeking a fight was incorrect and so with that I bid you goodnight and goodbye.

Mary Queen of Scots (2018)
MissMorgue 1 points 4 years ago.

The reality of this film is that the entire course of the relationship between Elizabeth the first and Mary Queen of Scots is that these two women never once met in person. Their entire relationship was done through letters and envoys, never in person even when granting Mary protection on English soil. Interesting film if you are interested in history and this period of time.

Batwoman (2019) S1 E1
Jhigh03 -1 points 4 years ago*.

I get all of your points, I was only pointing out whyzero love interests does not typically exist in american television. I did say almost since their is an exception to every rule. I’m really only replying to clarify you saying Batwoman has to be gay on tv because thats the way she is written in the comic. I’m not 100 percent positive but the dc shows on CW have not always followed cannon, so they could have wrote the tv character any way they wanted to. I dont think most people really care one way or another it’s just when things are changed to appease certain groups of people. No one seemed to care when Clark had a girlfriend on The 100 as it fit with the character

MissMorgue -1 points 4 years ago.

I never watched The 100 nor have I ever cared to, so I can not complain about his having a girlfriend - my comments about she would have to be gay in the instance of this television series is that they are basing it off the 2006 (to present) comics and if they were to change that piece of information the backlash would have been also over news sites and gossip blogs galore. People are only complaining now because it’s a lesbian fronted show where the lead does not hide their sexuality. The actress Ruby Rose (who plays Batwoman/Kate Kane) has actually left social media sites like Twitter because first she was seen as to gay and then when it was announced she was cast as Kate Kane she was seen as not gay enough. Her entire reason for leaving was because of so called fans attacking her sexuality in a backlash because she was playing an openly gay lead superhero. If they wanted to change things about the comics to fit into the show, go for it; no one is stopping them; but when they change something as iconic as one of the first openly gay main characters in the DCU they will have to be able to back up this change and give a great deal of reasons why. Because at the end of the day it was their decision to make the gay heroin into a TV series.

Rocketman (2019)
MissMorgue 0 points 4 years ago.

If this was taken as purely a Bio-Pic then this film has dates and ages of when songs were released wrong, the actual relationship he had with his manager would also be wrong ( yes they were lovers, but his manager wasn’t some spend the cash greedy fuck all ) but taking it for what it is, a brief glimpse into what Elton John was willing to share with the world, it’s a wonderful film and gives a vague insight to a man who younger viewers know as the Lion King guy or the Candle in the Wind singer. Older viewers know the crazed mess that he was when he took off and skyrocketed to the top from a nobody backup performer to a star. Also bravo to Taron Egerton for the commanding performance both physically and vocally.

Batwoman (2019) S1 E1
Jhigh03 -1 points 4 years ago.

Simply put, because almost every successful show has some kind of love angle, even if it is only implied. Tends to give a series legs and an idea to play around with. Can’t really have a conflict with A Big Bad every episode without some filler or downtime.

MissMorgue -3 points 4 years ago.

“Almost Every” as in not all shows have to have a obligatory love interest who people can spot a mile away every time they are introduced. My counter was focused on the male aspect because OP was complaining about the fact Kate Kane happens to be a “lesbian stereotype”, which for the instance of this show yes her character has to be a lesbian because that is how her character is written in the comic books, along with being a well trained strong female character. I do not hate love interests in shows, I hate people complaining about stereotypes when it’s not always the case and the stereotype that they see is actually gay representation that does not get the same treatment as heterosexual representation. That only thing I know for certain is that this will likely be the first show where they can not kill off every single lesbian love interest as other shows do and have done in the past - but I already feel as if they are going to wave the magical make her straight wand and turn them all into suddenly not lesbians.

Dark Phoenix (2019)
MissMorgue 0 points 4 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

Just finished watching this and apart of a very briefly lived piece of feminist propaganda (I am really tired of this latest wave of feminism, bring back the second wave please. When we were sane and rational.) that was uttered by Jennifer Lawrence about changing the name of the team to X-Women and well Aliens holds hands out for effect the film wasn’t terrible, but it was produced during a changing a of the guards and the people who were left from the FOX team really tried hard to ruin the film. For what they were given to work with I found it to be a adequate ending to the other wise mostly dismal handling of this entire franchise by Fox Studios. Apart from the X-Men Animated Series and a very select few X-Men films, this movie will sadly fall in the anals of history as a flop. 3 out of 5 stars.

Batwoman (2019) S1 E1

I have at no time said anything harassing you, and only stated opinions and objective facts. Both characters are Batwoman and Katherine Kane, and originally she was a hetero circus performer. While you have demonized my personality in an attempt to gain some sort of upperhand in a nonexistent argument. You have been quite mean as a matter of fact and I am really confused as to why. I like the idea of Robin being gay so what, and I don’t think Batman is interested in a sexual relationship. That’s not so bad is it. I don’t see why this couldn’t have been a nice conversation without it breaking down into venomous name calling and assassination of my character.

MissMorgue 2 points 4 years ago*.

She was heterosexual FORMER circus performer and HEIRESS - Batman is also a Heterosexual character and very much interested in sex, so again you’re wrong on that statement as well. He’s had multiple female partners from Barbra Gordon (bat girl) to Tailia Al Ghul and is married to Catwoman in some instances. He’s also been married to Harley Quinn. I am being dismissive to you and your continued insistence to be on my comments, because I personally find you to be a soapboxing troll with a need to have the last word. I’ve asked you repeatedly to cease commenting and yet here you are. Leave me alone, no further comments no passing go.

Batwoman (2019) S1 E1
Krl246 -1 points 4 years ago.

That’s matter of perspective. And the quality of being a grey doesn’t mean you can’t have hetero relationships, I think think that might be the source of your anger at me, at least I hope. As a lesbian you should be more aware of that fact then most. Again this is only clarification as you seem quite intent on taking this as a personal attack, which it is not. Please stop the false accusations and name calling, it’s quite disturbing.

MissMorgue 0 points 4 years ago*.

The character is not a grey area of the unknown, she’s a heterosexual character. Morally grey, yes. Romantically and sexually, no. I am not angry, I want you to leave me alone and stop replying to my comments. So again GO AWAY PLEASE AND THANK YOU.

Batwoman (2019) S1 E1
Krl246 -2 points 4 years ago.

That’s how you see it, cool, I respect your opinion, I wish you could respect mine without stooping to baseless accusations on my personality though. Fact Batwoman wasn’t always a lesbian that’s all I said. You want to make it out to be more than that I don’t know why, it doesn’t take away from the newer interpretation of the role, and for you to take it as a personal attack on yourself seems like an over reaction. I’m sorry if you feel condescended towards but my comment wasn’t aimed at you or the new show, it was just that a statement of fact about Katherine Kane’s history that you yourself have agreed to being a fact.

MissMorgue -1 points 4 years ago*.

You have taken it upon yourself to inform EVERY SINGLE PERSON in various comments that and I will direct quote you here, “The original 1950s Katherine Kane was not a lesbian and in fact was a circus performer. She was a beard for Batman, which sucked, because it was obvious Robin is gay and batman is damaged beyond the point of loving in that way.” - That is exactly what you have said to me, when it was explained with detailed FACTS that the character you have beating about the comments is not the character that this show is based off you have continued to harass me in particular. Now then as I have proven that your soapboxing a character that does not exist in the current DCU as anything other than a mention or side note character from a non-canonical line of the series, it useless and that pointing it out to every person is a mote point can you kindly cease the replies to me because I really do not want to see a notification from you in my inbox again.

Batwoman (2019) S1 E1
Krl246 -1 points 4 years ago.

Okay you seem overly vested in trying to change what is in essence a personal opinion. I can’t seem to find an actual point to this except anger and confrontation fro you. And now you want it to be some sort of mansplaining defense on your part. Jody Foster is a great actor I like her version and it’s the one I identify with, you do her an injustice by saying she didn’t put anything into the role. An attack on my personality based on assumption does you a disservice as well, it comes off as disingenuous. I’m glad you are lesbian female, I’m also glad homosexuality is acceptable enough that shows like this can even happen. Using that as a soap box to skew perspective on me as some anti-feminist is insulting and a logical fallacy.

MissMorgue 0 points 4 years ago*.

First of all - I never said she did not bring anything into the role. I explained that she was given a script written by a man, based on a book that was written by a man and in the film she was directed by a man. In that portion of the Book and Film series Clarice Starling was not a sexually active character as she was a student put into a case assignment based on her performance in schooling and training. When pointed out that she is not a sexually “grey” character as you put it you’ve gone on the defence about how your opinion of her and the writer who created the character in general is far better than that of the given facts that point out that a character who was played by a lesbian actress and a hetero actress is in fact a woman of the hetero persuasion and ended up with the man she has been chasing her entire career. I am far from angry or perturbed or any other adjective you’d like to spew at me. I am simply stating facts that the strong HETEROSEXUAL character of Clarice Starling is indeed a HETEROSEXUAL character who is in the media and thus apart of the entire genre of strong independent women who for the most part needed exactly zero men to save her while maintaining her HETEROSEXUALITY and non-lesbian status. Now kindly go away.

Batwoman (2019) S1 E1
Krl246 -1 points 4 years ago.

If that’s how you see it. But, if DC made her a lesbian they can unmake her a lesbian when it goes out of fashion. It comes off as disingenuous of DC to not distinguish the characters fully. And you can make the same argument about all DCU characters since the creation of the New 52. It’s a lazy attempt to grab viewers without developing true security in unconventional new characters.

MissMorgue 1 points 4 years ago*.

That isn’t how I see it, get your head out of the clouds and actually do a bit of research about the characters you’re talking about and maybe learn that this character and the one you’ve been so loving holding onto this entire time are two separate characters from two entirely different ages/eras of comic books. If they choose to make a new version of Kate Kane and she’s not a lesbian then of well, its not likely to happen given that there is a rather large following in the LGBT+ community who read about this particular character; who have had such a demand for her that what do you know she got a TV series.

Batwoman (2019) S1 E1
Krl246 -2 points 4 years ago.

I hardly think I am the only one who thinks that way, and the fact that there are other bad writers doesn’t in anyway make my thoughts on the matter invalid. The Julianne Moore interpretation was based on the movie in which Jody Foster starred due to the fact it didn’t follow the book. As for an agenda, I just think a role portrayed by a woman about a woman is better than one written by a misogynist about what he thinks a woman would do.

MissMorgue 0 points 4 years ago*.

Ted Tally is a man who wrote the screenplay. Jody Foster worked based on his writing and she was directed by another man, Jonathan Demme.

Batwoman (2019) S1 E1
Krl246 -4 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Harris was a terrible writer of females and characters outside the normal sexual spectrum. In my opinion that ending is a travesty to the character and strength of Clarice Starling. While Jody Foster is a great actress who’s professionalism carried through into the role with great affect. I never read Hannibal for that very reason.

MissMorgue 2 points 4 years ago.

There are plenty of people who are terrible writers in general, you choosing to dismiss the canonical ending of a book series because it doesn’t suit your agenda or what you believe should be done when writing women doesn’t mean you’re right. The series ends with them together. And I wasn’t talking about Jodie Foster, as she was only in the first film, Julianne Moore was the one who reprised the role of Clarice Starling in the film adaptation of Hannibal.

Batwoman (2019) S1 E1
Krl246 -1 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

The original 1950s Katherine Kane was not a lesbian and in fact was a circus performer. She was a beard for Batman, which sucked, because it was obvious Robin is gay and batman is damaged beyond the point of loving in that way.

MissMorgue 2 points 4 years ago.

I am well aware of Kathy Kane and her entire existence coming into play in 1956 a solid two years after the publication of a book that cause people to question if the fictional character of Batman was indeed gay or not; she was removed from the DCU in 1964 and then in the 70’s a limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths re-established that Batwoman’s existence was on an Earth separate from DC’s main continuity. Ergo the hetero-love interest of Kathy Kane is not apart of the DCU as anything but a side character. The character of Kate Kane was reintroduce in 2006 week 7 of the 52 and then after the DC Rebirth it was made apparent that she is now Bruce Wayne’s cousin and a lesbian. Yes there are random instances of mentions of Kathy in the new model of the DCU but that still does not change that fact that Kate Kane and Kathy Kane are two entirely separate characters and that the one this entire show is based off of is a lesbian.

Batwoman (2019) S1 E1
MissMorgue -4 points 4 years ago.

The show was oddly paced and strangely predictable in a way that all of the DCU is predictable - mild annoyance that they took the PoC female love interest from her past and made her suddenly toot the hetero-is-bettero horn of lies.
Not a great show, nut also not the worst show out there.
It’s better than Season 8 Game of Thrones.

Is anyone else P.O’ed by the stereotype that a strong, independent fighting woman has to be gay? Why can’t we have a straight, strong, independent fighting woman? I am sick of the stereotype. The few times when we have an independent, straight, fighting woman, most of the time she has to be rescued still by a man. Show a straight woman who can handle herself in a fight. Break that stereotype. I’m not against gays. I’m against stereotyping that all strong, aggressive, fighting women have to be gay.

MissMorgue -4 points 4 years ago.

Seriously have you not been paying attention to anything in the modern media, just hating on the fact we get a homosexual heroine in the DCU?? Kate Kane is a lesbian, fact. Kate Kane is a strong well trained fighter, fact. Kate Kane is Batwoman, fact. Why can’t we get a strong independent male hero whose gay/has zero love interests/is not suffering from tragic backstory so people know he has feelings?? How about you just enjoy the show and quit the complaining about the gays getting representation in the media via a strong, independent fighting female superhero.

Batwoman (2019) S1 E1
Krl246 2 points 4 years ago.

Clarice Sterling, that’s debatable, she seemed like a “Grey” sexual. She wouldn’t know what to do with feelings for anyone if she had them. Also they made the 2006 Batwoman gay, the original 1950’s one was not. She was actually created to squash rumors of Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson being an item. Which just goes to show how producers will do anything to a character in order to get more viewers. Never understood how your going to have a relationship as a vigilante on that level anyway. It just ends up being camouflage for you crime fighting ways. What’s wrong with two guys who’s relationship goes beyond sex to a deeper love than any possible by normal people, or, not needing to be codependent on someone. They should of just let Robin be gay in the 50’s. Batwoman could of been another Clarice, what’s wrong with self sufficient women. Everyone is perfectly willing to let Bruce be a confirmed bachelor for life, but not Kate, what hypocritical nonsense.

MissMorgue -2 points 4 years ago.

If you ever read the books you know that Clarice Starling (or a woman strongly suggested to beher) actually was seen with Dr Lecter after he made his escape. She went with him, and isn’t a unknown sexual character.
