MARS RED (2021)
Arsigor -1 points 2 years ago*.

I really dont understand how someone can see a title a ‘mars red’ and deduce it is about astrology…

but I also dont understand how someone can mix aries the god, aries the astrologial sign, choose something to watch based on that and then complain it is misleading

that just confort me into the fact that ‘astrological’ people have no logic at all
so thanks, I guess…

and BTW, just so can end complaining, ‘Mars red’ is just the name of a color, a type of red, of course…
you see the point with vampires or will you look for connections where there is none, as a good ‘planets dictate my life’ believer? ;)

Shade_Chylde -2 points 2 years ago.

Aries (♈︎) (Latin for “ram”) is the first astrological sign in the zodiac, spanning the first 30 degrees of celestial longitude (0°≤ λ <30°), and originates from the constellation of the same name. Under the tropical zodiac, the Sun transits this sign from approximately March 20 to April 21 each year.[2] This time duration is exactly the first month of the Solar Hijri calendar (Arabic Hamal/Persian Farvardin/Wray). [3]
According to the tropical system of astrology, the Sun enters the sign of Aries when it reaches the March equinox, which occurs on average on March 21 (by design). Because the Earth takes approximately 365.24 days to go around the Sun, the precise time of the equinox is not the same each year, and generally will occur about six hours later from one year to the next until reset by a leap year. February 29 of a leap year causes that year’s vernal equinox to fall about eighteen hours earlier—according to the calendar—compared with the previous year. From 1800 to 2050 inclusive the vernal equinox date has (or will) range(d) from March 19 at 22:34 UT1 in 2048 to March 21 at 19:15 UT1 in 1903.
~HERE’S the clincher wiseass…~
Ares, in Greek religion, god of war or, more properly, the spirit of battle. Unlike his Roman counterpart, Mars, he was never very popular, and his worship was not extensive in Greece. He represented the distasteful aspects of brutal warfare and slaughter. From at least the time of Homer—who established him as the son of the chief god, Zeus, and Hera, his consort—Ares was one of the Olympian deities; his fellow gods and even his parents, however, were not fond of him (Iliad, Book V, 889 ff.). Nonetheless, he was accompanied in battle, by his sister Eris (Strife) and his sons (by Aphrodite) Phobos and Deimos (Panic and Rout). Also associated with him were two lesser war deities: Enyalius, who is virtually identical with Ares himself, and Enyo, a female counterpart.
In short, anything RELATED to Mars is RELATED to Ares (Aries in current parlance).
Now sit down and close your gobshite.

That’s a really weird way to choose what to watch. As for misleading….astrology.

Shade_Chylde -2 points 2 years ago.

So far, astrology has ZERO to do with any of the plot. Do you think someone flat out stating they were curious about something due to an astrological reason doesn’t GET astrology? FOH with that mess.

MARS RED (2021)
Shade_Chylde 0 points 2 years ago.

I don’t watch Anime, but being an Aries, I had to check it out based on the name. I’m still trying to figure out what Mars has to do with ANY of this, but I’m only 3 episodes in… So far it’s VERY misleading, and also extremely slow…

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021)
Shade_Chylde 0 points 2 years ago.

By FAR the best Live Action R.E. movie to date. Bonus? Milla Jovovich (who couldn’t act her way our of a wet paper bag) was not brought back into it.
This was true to the games and the comics and “kept it zombie” as it always should have been.

Shade_Chylde 0 points 2 years ago.

The last time Mila was relevant or exhibited talent was “Dazed and Confused”. Everything she’s done since was a dumpster-fire. And, as un-popular as my opinion may be, I’m including short-bus status 5th Element Mila in this broad-stroke…

The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Shade_Chylde 3 points 2 years ago.

I watched the first movie (day of release) on two hits of SUPREMELY clean L to the S to the D, and convinced my coolassed grandmother to go to the theater to watch it with me.
We both LOVED it (Kudos to me that g-ma didn’t know I was TRIPPIN’ balls).
But I hated the next two. Filler Material.
I have followed Reeves’s career and him as a generally awesome human outside of film since. Dude deserves the check -in here and there.
So I made a decision.
I watched the first movie and pre-gamed going to the theater, then went and watched this after a couple of brews.
I pretended Reloaded and Revolutions NEVER happened.
It Clicked.
I HIGHLY (pun fully intended) Recommend you do the same.

Hawkeye (2021) S1 E5
Farmboy41 7 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

The fact that they are introducing a real heavy hitter like King Pin this close to the end of season one of the series bodes well for a continuation of this story line. How or where it goes from here I could not say but, it would seem like a wasted opportunity if it didn’t at least serve as a jumping off point for Dare Devil. Kate Bishop should replace Renner in the Young Avengers. Like Florence Pugh is replacing Scarlet Johansen. It could come back in any number of ways. I am sure they are not shutting any doors they don’t have to.
All the stories can’t have world ending plots and the world of the more human hero’s needs a venue to shine as well. I hope they keep this type of adventures going.

Shade_Chylde 5 points 2 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

They have led up to the Daredevil from the Netflix series (Charlie) being formally introduced into the MCU. That’s all over the place right now. I am absolutely THRILLED if that’s the case, because then we open new doors and man, who doesn’t want Bernthal playing The Punisher in an Avengers flick or something similar?

Swamp Thing (2019)
greenguy86 2 points 3 years ago.

No. They are going to re-air the first season. CW supposedly bought the rights. If it does well, there is a small possiblity that a second season may happen. It will of course depend on lots of factors. In other words, don’t hold your breath.

Shade_Chylde 2 points 3 years ago.

IF they make the first season available on a non-proprietary platform like the CW, there’s a lot more than a “small possibility” that we’ll see a second season. Season 1 was WAY too awesome not to do well on mainstream TV. I mean, it is a DAMNED sight better than “Stargirl” and other more teen-based superhero television. Don’t get me wrong, I actually really like all the CW DC stuff, but Swamp Thing was DEFINITELY more “adult”.

I’ve been muted for like 3 weeks, can’t a mod mute some of these people so we don’t have to listen to this back and forth. I got muted for something harmless compared to whats happening in this comments section.

Shade_Chylde 8 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

There is a VERY clear favoritism on this entire forum. Some people can get away with text-based murder, when another person gets muted or banned for cracking a joke. It is clearly evidenced in this thread.

Stay Woke: The Black Lives Matter Movement (2016)
Shade_Chylde 21 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I’m curious as to how so much absolute hate and bigotry and ignorance can be bounced back and forth, and it’s allowed here. Yet, when someone says something in a joking fashion or is getting along in chat or comment threads they get headhunted, muted, or possibly banned. This is by far one of the most ridiculous and inflammatory discussion threads I’ve ever seen here. People come here to escape what’s literally burning the world down around them and to find some entertainment. Take your personal politics and insults elsewhere, you’re mucking up everyones side-bar.

Growing Belushi (2020)
Shade_Chylde 1 points 3 years ago*.

As of this date, it’s GREAT to see the relationships between Akroyd, Belushi, Cpt. Jack, The Kids, and John’s Widow Judy.
It is OBVIOUSLY extremely scripted. This is the definition of a Scripted “Reality” TV Show. But if you get past that you can see the love and the work put into this. I have deeply ingrained experiences with (specifically Oregon based) growers, trimmers, and farmers, and as a lifelong sufferer of seizures/migraines/appetite disorders/PTSD I can TRULY respect the camp for the purpose of branding something pure with a seriously positive motivation backing it.
I WILL say that it seems to play a little heavily on John Belushi’s name and memory, but maybe that’s truly an honorific v.s. exploitation.
YOU be the judge.

THIS was a show I truly enjoyed, and when I came back to watch the last 3 episodes, I saw that it was listed as “ended”. I totally agree. If you go on Youtube and look it up, there are literally DOZENS of heavy hitting and huge comedians out there who openly sing his praise as the greatest of this generation. There are multiple compilation videos of people like Kevin Hart and Bill Burr and many others just lauding this man.

Shade_Chylde 2 points 3 years ago.

I have been an avid comic reader since the 80’s with collections passed on from my dad from the 1960’s. Cerebro was a tool for FINDING Mutants (or the occassional Human), NOT for mind controlling millions of people. Machines that control minds on a mass scale is a comic-book trope. A Dime a dozen, and this particular comparison is LOOSE at best.

DC's Stargirl (2020) S1 E12

Gee, that chamber looks a lot like Cerebro and it has been in comic books since probably before you were born. Cerebro is a fictional device appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The device is used by the X-Men to detect humans, specifically mutants. It was created by Professor X and Magneto, and was later enhanced by Dr. Hank McCoy. The current version of Cerebro is 7.0. Wikipedia

Shade_Chylde 0 points 3 years ago.

I have been an avid comic reader since the 80’s with collections passed on from my dad from the 1960’s. My age is not a question and insults aren’t necessary. Great, you quoted “Wikipedia”. Cerebro was a tool for FINDING Mutants (or the occassional Human), NOT for mind controlling millions of people. Without insult, or ANY animosity, your logic is a dumpsterfire. Machines that control minds on a mass scale is a comic-book trope. A Dime a dozen, and this particular comparison is LOOSE at best.

Doom Patrol (2019) S2 E9
Saucer-People 3 points 3 years ago.

I’m so jaded about the hype surrounding DC/Marvel film/tv series that I didn’t bother watching Doom Patrol till last week - my huge mistake, but I caught up in time to catch the S2 finale today - what an incredible show, I feel like I’m finally back home in the DC Universe! The people behind this are the only ones I would trust to make a worthwhile adaptation of The Invisibles comic by Grant Morrison, now that would be something special.

Shade_Chylde 2 points 3 years ago.

I slept on it too, partially because I LOVED this series based on misfits with “Meh” powers growing up, but also because it was just scary to think about what they would do with such an obscure property. Once I decided to binge it, I was NOT disappointed. The cast is great, and I agree with you. Like a homecoming! :D

YES! She’s gonna WHIP that things ass! This is playing out even cooler than the comics for a change in altered-comic TV stuff. I love Dorothy, she’s friggin’ adorable. Pretty funny you’d make a statement like that about something based in comics with CLEARLY zero knowledge OF comics… “LOL”
Stargirl’s been around since 1999, and aside from being published by a completely different comic publisher (DC, XMen is Marvel), there is literally ZERO parallel here to the XMen aside from a generic superhero team, which has happened literally hundreds of times since the 60’s…
