I have to say, that’s an odd plot synopsis (above). It’s kind of off the mark. Here’s a more accurate one: “A thriller series revolving around the ruthless Elizabeth Bancroft, a senior detective in the British police force, who hides a dark past and explosive secrets.”

What are cis men?

Sherlocat 0 points 3 years ago.

I think you’re referring to another sub-thread on this page? Cis-men = cisgender men.

‘Twas a joke. This site really needs a sarcasm font.

Sherlocat 0 points 3 years ago.

In that case, maybe say ‘A(wo)men’ to dw99’s comment, instead of sexist womprat Dreamcrusher’s comment? Just sayin’.🤷

Oh, I don’t mind — goes with the territory. In my (admittedly limited) experience, websites like these tend to be visited disproportionately by reactionary boys — and I do mean boys. There are always fewer women, and they tend to behave like adults.

Read some comments on columns in the NYT — you’ll feel better. :) ( = lots of smart grownups who want a better world.)

I’m just sorry that you have to deal with the downvoting bullshed, esp. given that you were kind enough to go out of your way to help other viewers by sharing the “wrong links” info. Hang in there!

Awww - thanks so much, dw99. Keep the faith - fight the power!!! ♀️🌐

I’m just really sorry you are getting so much flak from cis-men who (for either misogynist reasons, or just cluelessness) can’t see why and how this issue is so important.😡 I am glad you said something, because personally, I want to become a better person and grow every day!😺 Even if they don’t care to.😒

Hahaha - OMG, you know what’s really hilarious and pathetic?? Someone’s been going around looking for EVERY SINGLE POST I’ve made regarding the links for DCI Banks (I’m giving directions so people can watch the episodes properly), and going out of his way to DOWNVOTE every single helpful comment I made, just because he can’t stand that I made fun of his sexist BS, ahahaha!!! (This takes up a very huge amount of the kid’s time and energy, proving the hilarious, extreme pettiness of his whole endeavour.) I just LOVE IT when right-wing reactionary womp-rats have a hissy-fit and turn into whiny little babies, and show themselves up for EXACTLY who they are… I managed to drain hours and hours of time and energy out of this silly little guy, and he did it all to himself - I didn’t even have to lift a finger!😄

There is an underlying story that revolves around the main cast of characters (the police detectives: DCI Banks, DS Annie Cabbot, DI Helen Morton) that is one long story, from first episode to final episode. So I do recommend watching the stories in chronological order. Unfortunately, for some of the stories, there’s a link for Part 1, but not Part 2! I’ve placed notes on those episodes to warn people to avoid watching Part 1, because they will be dreadfully disappointed not to be able to watch the second half.🙁

Sherlocat 1 points 3 years ago.

I just checked my notes. The three stories that have no links for Part 2 on PrimeWire are basically all of Season 2.

Missing Episodes:

S02 E02 “Strange Affair - Part 2”
S02 E04 “Dry Bones That Dream - Part 2”
S02 E06 “Innocent Graves - Part 2”

does this have an underlying story that continues or can you just start watching case files anywhere?

Thanks, Sherlocat, for being open-minded and pleasant — very cool of you.

And pls don’t apologize — the fact that the word didn’t initially register as problematic for you shows us how accustomed we are to the everyday, deeply ingrained assumptions about who runs the world / whose work is important.

LegitBoss — How about “apeople”? :)

Not really. And FYI, the etymology of “amen”: From Middle English amen, from Old English, from Ecclesiastical Latin āmēn, from Ancient Greek ἀμήν (amḗn), from Biblical Hebrew אָמֵן‎ (ʾāmēn, “certainly, truly”)

Sherlocat 2 points 3 years ago.

Ooh - I love linguistics and etymology!😸 Nice one.

rapscallion, this is a battle worth fighting. “Man” has been used as a verb (man the battle stations) bc with few exceptions, only men had paid work — and women’s work was considered unimportant.

Maybe you’re too young to know how hard life was for women even in 1980, when they became a significant presence in the workforce, but I’m not.

  • My sister, a corp. lawyer, couldn’t get a credit card on her own despite having an excellent job/salary/education; her boyfriend, who earned less, had no problem getting one.
  • Women routinely got fired when they were pregnant — wasn’t illegal.
  • Ditto when they got married.
  • Ruth Bader Ginsburg was chastised by a Harvard law professor for taking a spot that cd’ve gone to a man; does anybody really think that she wasn’t more qualifed than her male peers? (Her CV shows us that she was.)

And on and on and on. And, women still face a lot of bull in the workplace, including lower wages for equal pay. Language matters ecause it expresses how we see the world, and too many people still have misgivings about women taking their place in the world. SO let’s stop using words that reinforce the idea that women don’t belong in the workplace, or that their work isn’t valuable.

A final thought: Would you be OK if the word “white” were used to refer to all people of all ethnic backgrounds ? “White the battle stations” and “We don’t have enough whitepower to get the job done.” It’s completely parallel — all Black people, and all women (of any color) didn’t have equal rights & protection under the law until recently.

Language matters.

Sherlocat 1 points 3 years ago*.

^ THIS.🙌 And I am so sorry to hear the ridiculous sexist crap your own sister went through in the bad old days.😣 I was just too young to really experience the dark side of that era, even though I was a girl.

Dude you need to lighten up and grow a pair.

Sherlocat 1 points 3 years ago.

Dude - your friggin’ sexism just proved dw99’s point! I’m a woman and should’ve tried to think of a better word (I just couldn’t think of one at the time).

DCI Banks (2010) S3 E3
rapscallion 2 points 3 years ago.

Pick your battles. While I wholeheartedly endorse replacing gender specific titles, such as fireman and policeman, it seems a bit anal to scrub words like manpower from our vocabulary. Is the word human considered sexist?

Sherlocat 1 points 3 years ago*.

I think ‘human’ is okay actually, but I have to agree with dw99 that ‘man’ by itself is sexist. I’m a woman myself, so I wish I’d thought of a better word (just couldn’t think of one last night).

DCI Banks (2010) S3 E3
dw99 0 points 3 years ago.

FYI: “doesn’t have sufficient staff” (vs. “doesn’t have the manpower”). Pls avoid language from bygone eras in which only men had agency in the world; thanks.

And thanks for taking the time to alert prospective viewers to problems with the links.

Sherlocat 3 points 3 years ago*.

Yeah, I guess you’re right, dw99. I mean, I’m not a man myself either… I couldn’t think of a good word, sorry. Next time, I’ll say humanpower, or staffpower.👍 Thanks!

Regarding: DCI Banks (2010) - Season 3 Episode 3 “Piece of My Heart - Part 1”

Unfortunately, the majority of uploaded video files for the DCI Banks series were mislabelled by the original uploader, causing most of the links to be posted on the wrong pages.

There is currently only one known video link for “Piece of My Heart - Part 1”. It can be found on the following page (Streamtape link only):

Sadly, it looks like PrimeWire simply doesn’t have the m̶a̶n̶p̶o̶w̶e̶r̶ I mean staffpower [edit: that’s better!] to deal with the massive amount of link errors for this series. Not a single Mod/Admin has responded to my report on the Front Desk ‘Fix It’ page.

I am now posting the correct link directions on every single page of this series, so that: A) Potential viewers know what they need to do to actually watch a particular episode; and B) Potential viewers can avoid watching Part 1 episodes that don’t have any links for Part 2 available, because that always sucks (someone’s already complained about that).

Sherlocat 1 points 3 years ago*.

Hi NoelCoyotebleu. Should I be reporting each and every link, with the ‘Report Link’ button? Because that will be an absolute nightmare, OMG… There’s just too many of them for this entire series. Basically, 99% of the links for DCI Banks are in all the wrong places. Ugh, what to do?? I think the problem stems back to the fact that most of the actual video files have been mislabeled (misidentifying the season/episode/title) by the original uploader, for unknown reasons. :(

DCI Banks (2010) S3 E3
Sherlocat 1 points 3 years ago*.

These links work fine, but they have all been placed on the wrong page.

The links to Streamzz and Mixdrop just repeat previous links for S02 E03 “Dry Bones That Dream - Part 1”, and should be deleted completely.

The Streamtape link actually plays S02 E05 “Innocent Graves - Part 1” (2012 November 7). It should be moved to the following page:
https://www.primewire.li/tv/27966/watch-dci-banks-season-2-episode-5
to replace the erroneous links currently found there.
