Date Night (2010)
SparrowsSong -1 points 2 years ago.

Nice cameo’s of Bill Burr (w/ hair), Mila Kunis, James Franco, Kristen Wiig, Ray Liotta, and Mark Wahlberg. However, this movie completely SUCKED and wasn’t funny at all, which really blows considering the 2 main characters are played by comedic A listers w/ a great supporting cast. 1 time watch. I would not recommend. Completely unoriginal, garden variety Hollyweird GARBAGE!… in a N.Y. setting…

The Edge (1997)
SparrowsSong 0 points 2 years ago.

Great story and wonderfully shot. Exceptional cast, including the bear. This will be a classic worth multiple watches. Perfect watch for the outdoorsman and adventure seekers.

American Gangster (2007)
SparrowsSong 1 points 2 years ago.

Another winner from Ridley Scott. Great story, great cast.

Groundhog Day (1993)
SparrowsSong 4 points 2 years ago.

Was an instant classic when it premiered, and it still holds up. Murray at his best.

Gladiator (2000)
SparrowsSong 4 points 2 years ago.

Great story backed by an elite cast who brought perfect emotion and feel to this piece. This should be one of Ridley Scott’s proudest works/achievements.

Oscar (1991)
SparrowsSong 2 points 2 years ago*.

All-star lineup and cute comedy. This role was really out of place for Stallone at that time, but I thought he and everyone else did great. Has Peter Riegert ever NOT made an impression? Loved Eddie Bracken’s role too.

Goon (2012)
SparrowsSong 1 points 2 years ago.

Had some really funny moments. I’d watch it again.

The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989)
SparrowsSong 1 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

The Bridges brothers were fantastic in this, as well as Michelle Pfeiffer as the front woman with the seductive and sultry voice… was a shoe-in. Perfect fit. Great movie, great story. As a musician myself, I can tell you all right now… when love/sex makes it’s way in to a band/professional partnership… the clock is ticking, and I bet it doesn’t make it far.

Game of Thrones (2011)
SparrowsSong 2 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Pretty cool mini series. Just finished the entire thing. I like that the story wasn’t commercialized with a “And they all lived happily ever after” ending. Original, unique, exciting, captivating, and epic tale. It had it’s dull moments sure, and some of the sequences went off the beaten path for my taste, but a very good story I must say. I was just frothing at the mouth to see that power drunk, smug, bitch Cersei Lannister get what was coming to her. Though she deserved much worst…

Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
SparrowsSong -2 points 2 years ago.

There’s only so much dumb I can take. I did force myself to the 45 minute mark however. May as well be watching a Disney channel kid show. Don’t know how it ends… don’t care.

Endless Love (1981)
SparrowsSong 2 points 2 years ago.

True love in it’s most beautiful, raw, and simple form. Something seen as dangerous, ugly, and illegal today. Perverse minds have ruined it, and that way of thinking kills the soul of it. Shirley Knight (mother) does a wonderful job at portraying exactly what I mean. Great performances by all. Beautiful and tragic story.

Frailty (2002)
SparrowsSong 1 points 2 years ago.

A MUST watch for anyone who has not seen this movie. Bill Paxton (R.I.P.) should have been very proud of this film. Casted with some of his Texas friends. One of my favorites.

Silver Linings Playbook (2012)
SparrowsSong 2 points 2 years ago.

Loved it. All the little innuendoes… There’s no such thing as normal, and it would be boring if there were. Nice on-screen chemistry between Cooper and Lawrence.

Don't Look Up (2021)
SparrowsSong 13 points 2 years ago.

Pretty close and accurate imagination in my view.

The Dirt (2019)
SparrowsSong 0 points 2 years ago.

Can’t believe they wanted to tell their story in this style of slapstick garbage. Heard these stories told so many different ways, its hard to know what the actual truth is from these burnouts. Saw more then a few scenes where I remember it differently. I was also in the scene at the time, along with my brother who played venues like the Troubadour, Roxy, and another (I can’t remember the name of). 1 time watch for me.

The Unforgivable (2021)
SparrowsSong 5 points 2 years ago.

Thanks to the uploader. Wonderfully told story of heartbreak, tragedy, and selflessness. Worth the watch.

Lord of the Flies (1990)
SparrowsSong 1 points 2 years ago.

Great story, great book, very good movie. As a North American, I think our 2 branches of government, along with the media should be forced to reread this book. Might help them realize the obvious dangers of their twisted lies, manipulations, inflamatory remarks/hate-breeding, and tyrannical bullying. Though I doubt it…

Bill Burr: Paper Tiger (TV Special 2019) (2019)
SparrowsSong 3 points 2 years ago.

One of the all time greats. I can’t remember what 1st turned me on to his comedy, but I’m so glad I gave his shows a watch. Cause, usually I’m pretty loyal to only a certain group of standup comedians. He will certainly go down as a legendary comic, and this show at the famous Royal Albert Hall reflects his comedic genius. Highly recommended.

War Dogs (2016)
SparrowsSong 3 points 2 years ago.

Not bad. Good story. I’d watch it again. Nobody cares… until there’s a problem… and someone has to answer.

Sleepy Hollow (1999)
SparrowsSong 3 points 2 years ago.

Instant Classic when it first premiered. This is my favorite Tim Burton movie. Great story, script, and cast to perfection. A staple for Halloween time.

Reality Bites (1994)
snazzydetritus 2 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Spent 1 1/2 hours hate-watching this contribution to society for the first time since it came out in ‘94. There’s manic-pixie-nightmare-waif Winona Ryder, who seems somehow to turn men into helpless, jealous simps. There’s Ethan Hawke who is in deep love with himself and mutters dozens of cute, not-cute lines. Bad acting and bad writing explode. This movie is basically what some square screenwriters thought Generation X was all about. Good for a laugh, though.

SparrowsSong 1 points 2 years ago.

I would have to agree. I’m generation X, and I can’t stand these types of people. The arrogant all-knowing, self righteous, pricks that go over the top with their self image of themselves. Artists? Hardly… they’re just a$$holes who memorized some big words off the TV and let a little bit of originality go to their heads. There’s nothing unique about them. Stiller’s character was the only one who’s heart was in the right place I thought. But of course he was made out to be the enemy conformist. And I didn’t even get a good laugh.

Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)
SparrowsSong 0 points 2 years ago*.

One of the greats. Props to Frances Ford Coppola. I don’t know if I would have cast Winona Ryder as Nina, but to each their own. Two of my all time favs in this… Anthony Hopkins and Gary Oldman. This movie has become an annual watch for me. One of the best romance stories of love and heartbreak, set to a dark/horrific backdrop. How can this get anything but 5 stars?

Halloween Kills (2021)
SparrowsSong 6 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Wasn’t a fan of this. The acting was sub par at best. Haddonfield… the town that never learns. Chop his frigg’n head off… full dismemberment… scatter the pieces and be done with it. I know, I know… it wasn’t in the script. 2.5 stars

Malignant (2021)
SparrowsSong 1 points 2 years ago.

OMG…ayfkm?!?! Hollywood is this hard up that they’re reaching these levels of dumb? Started out good though. That’s about all I can say. If there’s a sequel, I’ll have a good laugh and skip it.

Salem's Lot (1979)
SparrowsSong 2 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Classic. Looks like it was made for TV/edited for commercials. 3hrs and 20 minutes…GEEZ!!! I remember as a kid, watching the young boy rise up from the coffin in the ground. Right when that happened, all I said was “Mom!”… and she said “I know” and went over and turned the channel. Lol, I must have been about 8-9 years old. More music driven suspense then horror. But still a classic for Vampire fans.

The Witch (2016)
SparrowsSong 6 points 2 years ago.

I liked it. Good, creepy story. I loved the way this was shot and all the casts performance. Would be nice to see another.

The Collector (2009)
SparrowsSong 1 points 2 years ago.

In the spirit of the Saw saga, this movie is very good. Loved the story (though a lot of holes) and I thought the cast was pretty good. Lots of memorable scenes.

A Haunting (2005) S1 E2
SparrowsSong 1 points 2 years ago.

I love this retelling! I remember watching the premier and being totally captivated by the story enough to look up the actual place… which didn’t fit what I had imagined at all. I highly recommend this episode.

Stillwater (2021)
SparrowsSong 3 points 2 years ago.

Good movie, tragic story. Well acted, but nothing award worthy.

Billy Crystal: 700 Sundays (2014)
SparrowsSong 1 points 2 years ago.

Absolutely phenomenal! What a rich life he has to look back on. The great characters and talent that helped shape and guide him along. I wish I could thank him for sharing this very personal look in to his life. How he did this from start to finish without losing it… I’ll never know. Have always loved Billy Crystal ever since I 1st watched When Harry Met Sally. He’s been one of my favorites ever since. It’s a shame to not see him as prominent as he once was.

The Woodsman (2005)
SparrowsSong 1 points 2 years ago.

Odd movie. Love Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, but these were weird roles to see them in. The movie itself is troubling and taboo. I mean, it’s hard to feel sorry for a child molester.

Cruella (2021)
SparrowsSong 6 points 2 years ago*.

Didn’t really get in to this. I had high expectations for a storyline that wasn’t fulfilled. Love Emma Stone. As she’s also the actress sweetheart type that Disney wants their image projected around, but in my opinion, anyone could have played this role. Maleficent was better.

Crumb (1995)
SparrowsSong 1 points 2 years ago.

Very talented (if a bit demented) individual… but man, what a self-righteous snob, who’s rather full of himself.

Moneyball (2011)
SparrowsSong 3 points 2 years ago.

This story was a no-brainer to become a movie. Great story, great cast. A MUST watch.

Jumper (2008)
SparrowsSong 4 points 2 years ago.

Very good movie. I’m surprised this storyline didn’t spawn sequels. Definitely worth the watch.

The Muse (1999)
SparrowsSong 2 points 2 years ago.

Cute movie. A quintessential Albert Brooks type of movie/comedy. Loved all the cameos too. 3 to 3.25 stars.

Wind (1992)
SparrowsSong 0 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

If at first you don’t succeed… try, try again. Inspiring story with a great cast. Why can’t I find a woman like this?

Enemy at the Gates (2001)
SparrowsSong 1 points 2 years ago.

Pretty good movie. I’m not familiar with the actual sniper himself, so I don’t know exactly how much of the story is accurate. His story is definitely worth living forever on film.

Starship Troopers (1997)
SparrowsSong -5 points 3 years ago.

I was referred to this movie as a “must watch”. I wonder if I can sue them to get those 2 hours back. What a hunk’a sh*t!

Riding Giants (2004)
SparrowsSong 1 points 3 years ago.

Hats off to Stacy Peralta. Excellent documentary on the evolution of big wave surfing and the pioneers that live for that adrenalin rush. Loved this!

Nick Swardson: Taste It (2015)
SparrowsSong 2 points 3 years ago.

Hilarious.

Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
hellsingfan01 4 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

You do realise that this is A Godzilla / King Kong / Kaiju movie right nobody goes into any of these movies expecting a great plot we just want to see monsters fighting each other and that’s exactly what this film gives us.

SparrowsSong 3 points 3 years ago.

I’m almost 50 years old… so in answer, yes, I do have a grasp that these types of movies aren’t oscar contending. “Nobody” goes into any of these movies expecting a great plot “we” just want to see… You sure are speaking for a lot of people. Just leave me out of your groupings. Enjoy!

Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
SparrowsSong 3 points 3 years ago.

I made it to the 30 minute mark before the stupidity of it all became too overwhelming. This is a kids action movie. Disney-esque in dialog and humor. It’s not for me.

Footloose (1984)
SparrowsSong 1 points 3 years ago.

80’s classic with a kicka$$ soundtrack.

Fright Night (1985)
SparrowsSong 2 points 3 years ago.

This is a horror classic, and one of my Halloween go-to movies. Loved Chris Sarandon as the charismatic, modern day vampire. He was excellent in this role. A lot of the makeup and effects still hold up today.

Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
SparrowsSong 3 points 3 years ago.

I really loved this movie. Shot in the same spirit as the original, and expanding on the storyline of the original as well. Loved everyone’s performance, but if I had to nit-pic, I wasn’t too crazy about Jared Leto’s performance in this. His attempt at trying to be an eccentric was low production to me. Harrison should have won something for that scene he had with Leto though. I really felt his emotion during that segment. That was probably the best I’ve ever seen Harrison Ford perform. Loved Ryan’s performance as well as Sylvia Hoeks, whom I thought kicked a$$ in her role. I’d give this movie 4 to 4.5 stars

Ted (2012)
SparrowsSong 3 points 3 years ago.

A solid go-to when ever you want a smile and laugh. Makes me miss Boston too.

Coldblooded (1995)
SparrowsSong 1 points 3 years ago*.

Loved this movie. Great cast and storyline. Wish this was out on DVD.

An American Werewolf in London (1981)
SparrowsSong 1 points 3 years ago.

Obviously with John Landis (Coming to America, Animal House, Blues Brothers, Trading Places, Spies Like Us) at the helm, you know there’s going to be some comedic elements, even in a horror/monster movie. The transformation scene was ground breaking. I loved the story and the cast did an exceptional job. One of my go-to movies around Halloween. I highly recommend this.

Léon: The Professional (1994)
SparrowsSong 5 points 3 years ago.

Great story, great cast. One of Luc Besson’ best. This is the movie that introduced me to Jean Reno and Gary Oldman. Am a fan of the both of them. Hats off to a very young Natalie Portman as well.
