Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin (2021)
metalrob72 8 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

So, we’re now at the point where the Paranormal Activity name is slapped on any “found footage” type horror film. There is very little actual paranormal activity in this film whatsoever. This feels more like a Blair Witch ripoff with a little bit of The Village thrown in.

TheGuv 0 points 2 years ago.

Spot on mate, I was thinking the same but with a bit of Outcast II thrown in, more Supernatural than Paranormal in my opinion.

Invasion (2021)

They cancelled it mid season, so guess that didn’t go well.
Why are the comments disabled there as well? That’s weird…

Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum (2018)
TheGuv 1 points 2 years ago.

Good build up and decent spooks towards the end, but very unsatisfying ending. Just above the 3/5 Meh category.

Rose (2021)
TheGuv -1 points 2 years ago.

Meh. Needed more death and less annoying lil’ shit.

Wer (2013)
TheGuv 1 points 2 years ago.

Some truly horrible CGI didn’t mar this film much, solid Werewolf movie in my opinion. Few decent jump scares and some great practical gore effects. would be a 5/5 but the CGI… shoulda stuck with practical effects in those parts.

Got cancelled M8
Lol just messing with ya

The Unholy (2021)
TheGuv 7 points 2 years ago.

Resounding… Meh. Formulaic as hell, was literally making calls to what was gunna happen seconds before they did.

Tale of Tales (2016)
TheGuv 2 points 3 years ago.

2/5 wtf did I just watch… Costuming was great though, gave it an extra star for that.

I vote for stuff if i’ve seen it on another platform, only if its here though.

A Christmas Horror Story (2015)
TheGuv 3 points 3 years ago.

How did I miss this absolutely glorious trainwreck? Throwback to cheesy 90’s anthologies that is a great drinking view. Only reason it aint a 5/5 is cos Bill Shatner aint in it enough.

Altitude (2010)
TheGuv 1 points 3 years ago.

Mediocre at best, predictable as hell, characters were one dimensional (that fucking Jock… couldn’t have been written as any more of a douchecanoe if they tried). The twist was cringey as far as I’m concerned, but still a better love story than Twilight.

Pity, as the premise could have been very cool, instead discount Megan Fox lead something that should have crashed moments after take-off.

Unfit: The Psychology of Donald Trump (2020)

TURN…OFF…COMMENTS…
I am tired of the lesser primates flinging their turds at each other.

TheGuv 3 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Only on anything to do with Trump, then both sides come out and fling said turds for/against the “Orange Man Bad”. Surely someone should coin a version of Godwins Law with Trump mentions… Me, I’m just here to laugh at the visceral reactions.
grabs popcorn

Save Yourselves! (2020)
TheGuv 0 points 3 years ago*.

This is why Hipsters need to stick to riding Fixies and listening to obscure music instead of writing Sci-Fi, and that ending can eat the entirety of me arse. I want my 93 minutes back, who do I call for that?

Also, obviously ripped the idea of Tribbles, duh.

Spell (2020)
Shadow54 3 points 3 years ago.

Watchable …. Mediocre acting from the siblings and a bit off with directing with some of the scenes. However, still a watchable movie. I would appreciated and recommended a better climax.

TheGuv 1 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

My thoughts exactly, Shadow. Some genuinely creepy bits - and that scene where he finds out how his foot is damaged - is let down by its pacing and frankly anti-climatic climax.

Hidden (2015)
TheGuv 2 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Great and unexpected twist with e Breathers. And when you realise why these ‘rules’ actually exist, it makes so much more sense.

Books of Blood (2020)
TheGuv 1 points 3 years ago.

Good shit. 5/5

The Butcher Possessions (2015)
TheGuv 1 points 3 years ago.

Saw Aussie horror film and thought bugger it, why not.
Saw the house at the start and paused it. “Damn, that looks like my Nan’s house kinda…” then it hit me.
Not only had I seen the house before, I’d been inside it. Quick Google and sure enough, it was filmed in the town I spent most of my teenage years. Called a detail inside the house to the misuss for proof, and a few minutes later had it confirmed upon viewing.
Fuck’n eerie.

Movie itself, obviously low budget but some genuine jumps in there. Normally 3/5 for me, calling it 4/5 cos I felt really uncomfortable all the way through for some reason.

Beckman (2020)
TheGuv 0 points 3 years ago.

Christian John Wick, absolute pisser. Drunken watching only, trust me.

The Wolf of Snow Hollow (2020)
BruceLeeFan88 8 points 3 years ago.

This was fantastic! Would watch again. 10/10. Anymore unknown new werewolf movies out there that I don’t yet know of?

TheGuv 1 points 3 years ago.

I am Lisa maybe?

Don't Look Back (2020)
TheGuv 2 points 3 years ago.

Any Horror movie with “Don’t” in the title is usually awful.
This movie just emphasizes that point.

Bad President (2021)
Killion 2 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Oh wow! Please disable the comments, I get enough of this crap on facebook…..

TheGuv 3 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Was thinking the same thing. We’re on a streaming site, save this shit for Twitter and Hakuna them Matatas folks. As an Aussie getting real sick of folk bitching about Trump every chance they get, though it does make for a good popcorn fodder.

The Collection (2012)
TheGuv 2 points 3 years ago.

This film and the one before it are some of the only horrors to make me go ‘woah’ in the killshots. Must watch, both of em.

The Wretched (2020)
TheGuv 1 points 3 years ago.

Not bad but not good. Few scares yet pretty heavy in atmosphere and tension building.

Anna and the Apocalypse (2018)
TheGuv 2 points 3 years ago.

I wanted zombies, Missus wanted a musical. Happy medium, and now part of the Xmas rotation with Krampus, Die Hard and Hercules Returns.

True Horror (2018)
TheGuv 1 points 3 years ago*.

Watched this over on SHUDDER, it’s actually pretty bloody good, not a cringe fest like others of its ilk.

Exists (2014)
TheGuv 1 points 3 years ago.

Meh.

Incident in a Ghostland (2018)
TheGuv 3 points 3 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

Not too shabby, decent twist (which I predicted when she woke up wit the scar)and pretty uncomfortable watch - the best kind of horror - all the way through.

Fun Fact: One of the girls ended up with a permanent facial scar after the glass door she was pounding on broke and she went through it face first. Link to Story.

Couple that with the poster for the movie, and… oof…

You Might Be the Killer (2018)
TheGuv 0 points 3 years ago.

Decent. Kinda like if Zombieland met Slasher film.

The Collector (2009)
TheGuv 2 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Slow start but ramps up quite decently i reckon. That Beartrap scene though, my balls ached. 4/5

Tigers Are Not Afraid (2019)
TheGuv 0 points 3 years ago*.

Mexican store-brand Stranger Things with a spit of People Trafficking and “Drug Lords”. 2\5 had scarier Mexican food farts.

The Burrowers (2008)
TheGuv 1 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

First Bone Tomahawk and now this one… liking the Western Horror genre. Couldnt help but notice the practical costumes where folk crabwalking backwards though, made me giggle a few times. Also, old mates plaited leather suspenders, damn son… good look.

The Ruins (2008)
TheGuv 2 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Not bad, but not really good. Doctor bloke was giving off psycho vibes for most of it, and sure the set limited, but fairly different from most siege type horrors.

You Were Never Really Here (2017)
TheGuv 4 points 3 years ago.

Well… for all the movies Joaquin has been in, this was sure one of them.

Underwater (2020)
TheGuv 1 points 3 years ago.

Screw you Megalohydrothalassophobia, made Kirsten Stewart movies scary for me for once…

The Invisible Man (2020)
TheGuv -1 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

TAKE the PHONE from the ATTIC, ITS PROOF SOMEONE IS WATCHING YOU! ALSO TAKE the bloody SUIT ya nong, MORE PROOF! HORROR MOVIE STUPID DECISIONS ARE STUPID!

Other than that, well done flick - better than the Kevin Bacon one anyway - while bucking the trend of hot 20 something chick being a survivor and being a giant allegory for PTSD prevalent in DV survivors without cramming it down your throat. Thumbs up for the movie, thumbs down for Cecelia catching the idiot ball a few times.

REC (2007)
TheGuv 2 points 3 years ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

One of (if not, THE) best found FF/Zombie films made, hands down. Just avoid the Yankee remake “Quarantine”, it sucks.

The Hallow (2015)
TheGuv 1 points 3 years ago.

Eh, not bad. Very… moist.

First Knight (1995)
TheGuv 2 points 3 years ago.

I’m watching this movie cos the missus wanted to see it. Pray for me lads…
