Hilarious! It’s super raunchy so if that’s not your thing then you won’t like it. It had ME cracking up! It’s a lot like “Tag” but better in my opinion since this movie is pure fiction and in no way based on a true story.. 3/5 or 6/10

As the mother of an autistic little boy of the same age as the boy in tue film, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to communicate and relate since they use other means to do so. My sweet boy is very “fluent” in body language and his emotional IQ is through the roof. Speech therapy was only 1 of 4 therapies we do on a biweekly bases. It is also his least favorite and one we’ve seen very little progress. Knowing this must frustrate him to no end being unable to communicate, I understood why he’d resort to temper tantrums. I’ve had meltdowns over something as trivial as a lagging cell phone screen and been known to throw it out of windows. Imagining how his issues must haunt him relentlessly so when he was 2 yrs old, I decided to try American sign language. I learned how to sign words like “hungry” and “more”. Less than a week later, I finally witnessed his first words.. He looked up and signed the word “more” to ask for another cookie. Yes, I burst into tears and clapped and made a big deal of it. I had never been happier! This movie reminded me of all the hard work we’ve put in over the years. While it is a horror movie, it was also so very touching especially the last 15 min. I loved the ending and for me, it was the perfect touch. Other high points is the fact you DO see the creepy monster and it’s not all shadow play and jump scares.. Huge plus! They pulled off a successful thriller without the need to pepper it with crude humor, bad language or nudity. Perfect watch for families with young teens. The only fault for me was that it was too slow in the beginning but if given the chance, it has a highly rewarding payoff.. 4/5 or 7/10

Oh my,finally an episode I enjoyed all the way! My fav secondary chars have always been Bullock & principal Louis.. They always deliver side splitting moments that are only unique to them. This episode is a parody of my fav movies of all time, “Labyrinth”.. You can imagine who’s playing David Bowies role as the Goblin King.. You have no power over laughing through this one! 4/5

The Final Girls (2015)
Tisiphone 1 points 3 years ago.

I stumbled across this little gem quite by accident but man, I’m so happy that I did! This movie is definitely worth a watch for those who like a bit of comedy mixed with their albeit “campy” type horror flick such as Evil Dead II, Cabin in the Woods or the tv series Stan Against Evil. If you enjoyed any of the aforementioned classics and the like thereof, then I promise you’ll have fun with this one.. For me, I give it 4/5 or 7/10 stars

Amazon prime knocked it out of the park with this one. I absolutely fell in love with the series only 20 mins into the pilot and before I knew it, I had binged the entire 1st season! Great acting from most of the characters, definitely left me wanting more. I can’t wait for the next season! 5/5 or 9/10

All I have to say is no.. No, no, no! Wrong and just plain terrible! Felt offended by this horrible representation of a female Army veteran, turned “assasin”.. Almost feel like I need to take a shower after sitting through that crap sandwich. If there’s anyone still wanting a good movie featuring a strong, believable female with pure talent for kickin’ & takin’ should see the movie “Peppermint”.. You’re welcome 😁

This Is the End (2013)

A personal favorite of mine! Such a fun ride! Definitely explicit and uncensored in every way imaginable (which of course, is why it’s so sinfully hilarious) but the rating should be taken seriously when selecting a movie to throw on family night. Cheers!

Project Power (2020)
Tisiphone 2 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Well.. Umm.. ok so for me, this was a VAST let down after all the waiting and hype. I did enjoy seeing Jamie Foxx again and his character. I also appreciated the attempt at special effects.
The storyline had soo much potential with the promise of superpowers and it fizzled out spectacularly!!

(SPOILER ALERTS IN 3..2..1..)

BUT maybe I expected to much when thinking the choice of powers would be left up to the user to conjure?? After this initial let down, I’m sorry but all that followed was a lot of eye rolling with all the mess that followed. The story progressed with too much sheer luck and happenstance. It seemed to rain down at all the right moments, just in time of course (like the roll of tape finally found & given just in time for him to chase down the fleeing vehicle, catch up to it, MacGyver a device in time to tape it to the rear all without being seen or even out of breath.. In nothing but a bath towel to boot!! (not wearing boots, all totally barefoot of course). That’s when I had enough and withdrew my interest so I could step out to have a smoke. My boyfriend stuck with it though only to emerge 3x as frustrated if that helps at all. 1/5 or 3/10

Infini (2015)
Tisiphone 3 points 3 years ago.

I overheard someone say it had a vibe much like the movie “Event Horizon” (which is one of my all time favs) & while I know the likelihood of this being true is next to nil I’m going to give it a try nonetheless.. Fingers crossed!

The Last Starfighter (1984)
Tisiphone 4 points 3 years ago*.

I loved this movie when I was a kid! It usually came on after other popular movies at the time such as “The Boy Who Could Fly”, “Flight of the Navigator”, Starman or Enemy Mine. I felt it was more fun to watch than Star Wars by my brother would always say it was bc I was a girl and not cool enough. LoL. It’s definitely for the younger crowd but fun for the WHOLE family. For story originality and effects (at the time), I’d give it a solid 4/5 or 7/10. Never a dull moment!

Random Acts of Violence (2020)
Tisiphone 3 points 3 years ago.

This is a serious slasher flick, not a “fun” one, and it’s also one of the goriest horror films in recent memory.. It’s pretty brutal, packed with enough blood, guts, and gore that even Hannibal would blush. If you’re sensitive to such things, you may want to avoid it. For true fans of slasher horror flicks, it’s certainly worth a peek. Being a fan myself, it was a thrilling ride! 3.5/5 or 7/10

One if my all-time favorites! I saw this one at a premier in ‘95. and have owned it in every possible format never get sick of watching it every couple of years. Madonna is my least favorite character in an all-star ensemble but thankfully this doesn’t spoil the ride. An absolute classic and must have for movie collectors such as myself. 4/5 or 7/10

Wish I Was Here (2014)

WTF? Apparently, this is a movie about a bunch of self-indulgent losers pretending their first-world problems are so insurmountable they are wiling to do almost anything to correct them..
..except work.

It’s official now. I hate Zach Braff.
1/5 or 2/10

Kill Switch (2017)
Tisiphone 3 points 3 years ago.

The movie & effects aren’t that bad and it really had potential but..

..70% of the film was shot as if you’re inside an interactive video game. More than half of those scenes require you to read what’s displayed on the graphic user interface as seen by the lead character to know what’s going on. 15 minutes into the movie, I’m starting to wonder, could it be that the studio couldn’t afford to pay Dan Stevens to appear for the entire 90 minutes of the film that they had to resort to this first-person point of view story telling? The experimental camera work is almost as bad as the Blair Witch Project, Cloverfield and Project Almanac (just to name a few). I’ve known people who’ve experienced motion sickness for days after watching these movies.

The only thing I got was a pounding headache that lasted days so I’ve deducted points for pain & suffering.

This Is Spinal Tap (1984)
Tisiphone 2 points 3 years ago.

I love this movie! I agree with others, there needs to be an 11 star setting.. If I could crank it that high, I would bc it deserves it! I’ve owned this in just about every format imaginable due to watching it every year and wearing it out. If you like this movie, check out “Heavy Trip” (2018). It’s done in the same style but chronicles the hilarious antics of the Finnish heavy metal band, Heavy Trip. Highly recommended both. Enjoy! 5/5 or 11/10

Disappeared (2004)
Tisiphone 1 points 3 years ago.

Sounds a lot like a Neeson film you might say? Here’s the comparison:

Liam vs. Ray..

Ray works in a photo-developing lab. Liam is ex-special ops. Rays missing daughter is a lesbian stripper. Liam’s missing daughter is a gullible virgin. Ray briefly waves a gun around. Liam shoots about 107 people dead. Ray takes a taxi. Liam steals a car to evade dozens of vehicles bristling with firing machine guns. Ray sidetracks the honest local cops from preventing terror attacks. Liam shoots the wife of the local crooked cop in the knee to get important info. Ray glares at a Muslim muckety-muck. Liam sticks a knife in a Muslim muckety-muck’s ribs. Ray rescues his daughter after she’s retired from stripping. Liam rescues his daughter before she’s retired from being a virgin.
As you can see, it’s just the difference between a TV movie and a Hollywood blockbuster. 2.5/5 or 5/10

Heavy Trip (2018)
Tisiphone 4 points 3 years ago.

“This Is Spinal Tap” for a new generation!
A line from the movie—“It is better to crap yourself than to be forever constipated.” sums it up best. This is an absolutely hilarious dark comedy of a Finnish jerkwater heavy metal band, with all the tropes and cliches of the heavy metal culture present, both defied, averted, downplayed and absolutely played straight. A brilliant example of Finnish contemporary movie culture. I will watch it again! 4.5/5 or 9/10

Murder in a Small Town (1999)
Tisiphone 1 points 3 years ago.

This is a delightful well executed period murder mystery. The suspects are developed in the traditional manner early in the movie. The interaction between the detective and a drama producer is done with understated humor. There is in fact a lot of between-the-lines humor which Gene Wilder plays off in a brilliant manner. It is great to see Wilder in a role such as this, contrasting with his more over-the-top style of comedy acting in his early films. So what is there not to like in a well written story, well acted and with an evocative 1930’s setting? I enjoyed this TV-movie 4/5 or 7/10

The Fare (2018)
Tisiphone 2 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

“Hopefully I won’t be bored to death” -was my thought when I first started watching the movie. (Btw, I have only one rule: if movie doesn’t catch my attention in first 15 minutes, it’s dumped. I try to keep it short..) Both actors did their jobs well.
It seems to start like Groundhog Day with the same cab ‘ride’ repeating and repeating, but it spirals off fairly quickly to something that you’d never guess. The ending was a little off the charts, as there were other directions it could have gone, but it didn’t go Hollywood. That’s a good thing. Whereas Groundhog Day you can watch over and over for the comedic bits, this had almost none so for me it’s a one time watch - but certainly not wasted!
All of the holes in the story do get explained however, and it will leave you satisfied as well as entertained (which is what a movie should do) I rate this one 3.5/5 or 7/10

Abnormal Attraction (2018)
Tisiphone 2 points 3 years ago.

Overall, I enjoyed this one. I laughed a lot of times and I wasn’t really bored while watching it but at times, some scenes were dragged out a bit and I also thought the film itself was a bit too long. The jokes sometimes were a bit too much and the story can be confusing at first, but besides that, this was a solid low-budget film. If you’re OK with gross-out and non-PC humour, you’ll probably find this a hoot! 3/5 or 6/10

Dead in a Week: Or Your Money Back (2018)
Tisiphone 1 points 3 years ago.

I have to be honest I didn’t expect much of this movie with a title like that, but in all fairness I did enjoy this black satirical comedy. It had much more ‘fun’ moments then I expected. The thick British accent from some of the actors made some conversations even more hilarious. The cast was surprisingly good as the whole cast brought something special to the story. A story that is easy to watch and that will make you laugh if you have a good sense of humor. I’m glad I found this gem of a film! 4/5 or 7/10

Under the Silver Lake (2018)
Tisiphone 4 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Under the Silver Lake is not an easy movie to digest and will probably not be appreciated by the general public, nor does it need to be. It’s clear that Mitchell creates movies out of passion (as the best directors do), and after the success of It Follows he became more bold and as a result was able to create a truely bizzare piece of cinema that reminds us of movies like Enemy (Denis Villeneuve), Donnie Darko (Richard Kelly) and the most obvious: Mullholland Drive (David Lynch).

The storyline is a bit weird, and it’s pretty much centered around Andrews character, so the movie felt a bit small to me, but Andrew performance makes up for it big time. I also loved the nudity in this movie. I would describe this movie as playful, curious, funny and authentic. This is not the usual Hollywood crap, it’s quite different, I had no idea where the story was going, which is a good thing because it kept me hooked and that doesn’t happen to me very often anymore. I truly had a great time. It’s not for everyone I think but if you like semi thriller/detective/humor/absurdity kind of movies, we’ll get yourself a bucket of popcorn and have fun! 4/5 or 8/10

Calibre (2018)
Tisiphone 3 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

This is a definite keeper BUT be prepared to be uncomfortable is probably the best way to describe the atmosphere of this film.

A remarkably well acted and directed thriller, this item kept me constantly surprised and on the edge of my sofa. It takes a potentially tired premise—two besties go on a hunting trip that’s predestined to end badly—and takes it into completely unpredictable territory. I highly recommend this little gem! 4/5 or 8/10

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2012)
Tisiphone 1 points 3 years ago.

Stupid Title. Brilliant film. I almost didn’t watch it and I’m so sorry I waited this long.
If you liked 4 weddings and a funeral, you’ll love this! 5/5 or 9/10

Hellbenders (2013)
Tisiphone 2 points 3 years ago.

So I guess this movie slipped under the radar… Too bad. If the horror/comedy genre is your bag, you should catch this. Horror + Religion (The Exorcist) can be a pretty creepy combo, and this movie has its touches. The comedy aspect is not goofy slapstick, but sort of low key and character driven. Think of some of the weirder people you know — likable, odd-ball funny, but not necessarily of the “ha ha” sort. Then mix in the over-the-top plot and you have something quite different and a real blast. The cast was wonderful. I loved Clancy Brown’s character, a guy we probably all know, and Clifton Collins’ good-hearted punk. I liked these “debauched” Hellbenders because they were still good-guy Regular Joes, struggling with the dichotomy of good vs. evil in a world (somewhat) more off-kilter then ours. 3/5 OR 6/10

James vs. His Future Self (2020)
Tisiphone 1 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Charming, quirky and funny with a valid message regarding the pointlessness of worrying about the future or obssessing about the past - and never taking the time to enjoy the present. Good to see Daniel Stern again but couldn’t they have found another actor to play his younger self who was the same height? Time travel “stretches you” explanation doesn’t work, not even with Hollywood physics. Otherwise this movie is harmless, good fun and worth a watch. Better than I expected and a breath of fresh air. 3/5 or 6/10

Being There (1980)
Tisiphone 2 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

“As long as the roots are not severed, all is well. And all will be well in the garden.”

This is a quietly brilliant, hilarious, heart-wrenching and heart-warming motion picture that showed how great Peter Sellers (Oscar-nominated) was and how limitless his range was. He stars as a gardener at an old mansion in Washington, D.C. who has never been outside of the owner’s small piece of property. When the owner dies, he has to leave the only home he has ever known. Sellers has no knowledge of anything except what he sees on television and he has a strange sort of child-like innocence that endears him to all he comes into contact with. After a minor accident, Sellers is taken to the home of a ridiculously wealthy political lobbyist (Melvyn Douglas in his second Oscar-winning performance) who is literally being kept alive as he has a rare form of cancer. Douglas immediately takes a liking to Sellers and so does his much-younger wife (Shirley MacLaine). Sellers is now in the spotlight though as he gets to meet the president (Jack Warden) and slowly starts to gain popularity and political support from those around him. Of course Sellers does not realize any of this as his understanding of such things are beyond his somewhat limited mental capabilities.

This movie is simply a brilliant film that is carried by Sellers’ amazing personal best performance. Everyone else is adequate, but this is Sellers’ show. Douglas won the Oscar mainly due to sympathy votes, but surprisingly Sellers would die before Douglas as he passed away less than six months after receiving his Oscar nod of a massive heart attack. As good as Dustin Hoffman was in “Kramer vs. Kramer”, I still wish that Sellers would have won the Oscar for this role which is one of the finest performances ever throughout the entire history of the cinema.

The reputation of this film has risen steadily over the last years and rightfully so. Jerzy Kosinski’s novel is transferred to the screen into a dark (literally down-lit) and sombre comedy by director Hal Ashby, who managed to make an expertly paced film, consistent in tone and mood. The film boasts great performances by veteran Melvyn Douglas and Shirley Maclaine, who even does a masturbation scene! But it’s Peter Sellers who enters the pantheon of the all-time legendary performances with a simply magnificent portrayal of Chance Gardener. For long this was his pet project and for over nine years he tried to get it filmed. When it was finally green-lighted, he painstakingly researched and prepared for the role. The voice in particular demanded his attention as he listened to his own voice on a tape recorder and endlessly compared one sound to another. Forget about comparing his role to Tom Hanks with “Forrest Gump”, the other mindless observer of American society. It doesn’t even come close. Tom Hanks got the Oscar but Peter Sellers gives his character an unmatched complexity in a far superior film, that if anyone should get the Oscar, it’s Sellers.

Breaking Benjamin: So Cold (2004)
Tisiphone 1 points 3 years ago.

This is my absolute favorite song by my favorite artist for more than a decade. I’m just now realizing the talented Adam Egypt Mortimer helped to visualize this song through a music video. Wow! I’m speechless and hopelessly in love with this song now forevermore. Such beauty! That said, I see them each time they visit Nashville. Benjamin Burnley is a phenomenal song writer. Since I was 8 yrs old, I’ve been composing piano music.. writing each song out by hand on composition paper.. Painstaking, absolutely but I feel it to be more genuine and appreciative of the masters before me (Rachmaninoff is a GOD) BUT sadly, I’ve never possessed the talent for writing lyrics. My emotion is portrayed within the runs and notes connecting each measure. I have insane respect for Sir Elton John as well but much like him, I’d need another master like Bernie Taupin to fit lyrics to my creations as well. Mr. Burnley needs none of this. Somehow he spins words of pure gold to match his creativness. If I possessed his ability, my words would closely match his own. No other such poetry has been as close to matching how I’ve survived my own experiences. I do my best to detail my life through the use of minor tones and 6/8 beats. I wish I could know how complete it must feel to be able to match words to such candid flow but that’s never to be. For that, I’m forever grateful to this group for sharing their gifts with the rest of us.

This movie is the 8th deadly sin.. It’s seriously that terrible. I knew better when I saw Tara Reid as a leading actor but I figured what the heck else have I got to do? WRONG!!
