Sooo much better than season 2 so far!It feels like the first season to me, which in turn feels like the book.

October 1st 2021 seems to be the closest to a concrete and final release date. It’s Warner Bros, so it will premier theatrically and on HBO Max simultaneously. Just like WW84, we’ll probably get a nice copy pretty quick. The sequel won’t have a greenlight until after the first film’s release, but I believe it has been being written since 2019. Aaand the prequel series, Dune: The Sisterhood is still planned to start filming this year.
Perhaps it’s nostalgia, but I enjoyed this one much more than the first. That’s not saying that it is technically “better” than the first, just that it entertained me personally more. They captured the cheesiness of the 80’s perfectly and on multiple levels. I’ll certainly re-watch this one far more than I did the original.
after reading all your comments i cant work out whether this is worth watching or not ?
It’s a stylistic thing. Personally I love it and have watched it several times. It’s not the cookie cutter Hollywood style action sci-fi, so some folks are going to hate it. I’d give it 30 minutes, you’ll know.
Surprisingly good and silly-funny! It’s being released to streaming services near the end of November, the 30th I think. It shouldn’t be a long for a higher quality version if you may be waiting for that.
I expected terrible, but got excellence. It’s a pretty good modernization. Just keep in mind that we are not the kids we were when we watched the original.
Agreed. Some were what I’d call weak. All in all I did enjoy the “who is the real monster?” concept that seemed to be prominent in all the eps.
I’m up to ep.5. It gets deeply metaphoric and can be uncomfortable to watch at times. But, that’s the appeal to me. I personally think it’s brilliant! Love it!
A very well done and faithful trip into the Blade Runner universe. The visuals alone are worth the 25 minutes.
Lol, I had almost forgotten about this one until you commented on it. Time for a re-watch! Thanks Livy!
If you like Beyonce, fashion design and choreography, it’s probably what you’ll expect and quite good from that point of view. The title is simply an attention getter (money grabber)in my opinion. It’s no more racial than anything else that has been inspired by Lion King. The only color Beyonce is concerned with is green. There is no artistic metaphor here. Watch it before you praise or hate it for the title.
Cool mockumentary, makes the movie even creepier.
It showed on cable the week before the movie came out. At that point a lot of us still didn’t know that it wasn’t all real. Lol, fun stuff at the time.
So this is the original version of the 2019 remake starring Nicolas Cage? Is it worth watching this when i’ve already seen the remake?
This one takes place in Germany and is in black and white beyond the color itself. The Cage version probably had the best budget and effects and is easiest to watch. The Lovecraft story has been put to film several times over the years: Die Monster Die(1965), The Curse(1987), Colour From the Dark(2008(?)).
I’m on episode 3. Good show so far in my opinion. You do have to kinda get past the seemingly over/under acting of the New Worlders at first. It’s odd, but brilliantly intentional due to the “utopian” concept and the ultra snooty Alphas. I think most folks will catch that pretty quick though. Great to see some of the familiar faces too!
Casting absolutely killed this. Unpopular opinion here but, someone has to say it. Jennifer Hudson BUTCHERED that song…
Fully agreed that Hudson did a terrible job on the song. She didn’t capture the proper emotion at all. If the rest of the film had been better,(though I didn’t totally hate it),her performance would have ruined it. It didn’t put forth the proper feeling for the climax.
I believe they had 5 or 6 character posters in Russia. She is one of them.
Agreed that it’s the best since T2. A great cast with reasonable acting and direction and as much action as you’d expect.
Chibi, as you know I’m pretty far left, but I never saw the Major as Asian. People complaining about that were clueless as to the whole point of the film and were probably just jumping on the bandwagon. It was pretty much a frame to frame copy, Scarlett was brilliant and Major could have been played by any race/nationality. I have to say that it didn’t grab me like the original, but it was still a fantastic “live action” version.
I never gave this a chance until recently. I’m totally in love with this show!
I’m enjoying it so far. Nothing spectacular per se. Until you consider that it’s a DC show AND on CW. On par with Gotham in my opinion. Better than most CW/DC shows beyond that. Simply my opinion. I could care less about the gay or whatever thing.
Though I miss Milla, I really enjoyed this. It’s a good addition to the franchise. I prefer this over the first 2 of the original film series, but that’s not saying much.
