Law & Order (1990) S23 E9
AmieWarren 1 points 6 days ago.

Look! It’s Fitz! Started watching this at the beginning of it’s new run, then stopped a few episodes in before Sam Waterston left. Decided to watch again, and was pleasantly surprised to see Tony Goldwyn taking his place. I can’t help but see President Fitzgerald Grant when I look at him. For those of you who don’t know, that was his character in the TV show “Scandal,” which was an addiction for me at the time. Think I’ll keep watching, maybe go back and binge the two seasons I missed.

YgraineDance 1 points 6 days ago.

Yeah! I loved his character, Fitz. He said intense, romantic, compelling things that I can still remember….

I’d had this on my watchlist for awhile and finally got to see it. Turned out to be fun. Some plot holes in the tale, but lots of action, some engaging actors, and a great character played by Russell Crowe.

they had to wrap up their ten years of twisting their original story to the extreme with a “happy ending”.
i think, they have “overdone” this show for at least 5 years…

I know. It was so important to them to keep us coming back for ever and ever, year after year after year…after year….

A series about humanity’s big comeback would be cool, with a few familiar faces. Clean up efforts would be fascinating. To me, anyway.

Yeah, but Gimple will never give us THAT show. He never has. We’d just get more of the selfish dreadfuls. :-/

YgraineDance 3 points 16 days ago. (Contains Spoilers)

What tickled me most about the finale was the “news reports” at the end about how everyone was going to share, help their fellow man, work together, etc. etc. etc. All throughout TWD history, every single group of survivors has been calculating, or crazy, or greedy, or evil, or creepy - in short, no one was wrapped too tight. Maybe the new undead reality was just too much for folks to deal with mentally, but every dang group we ever met along the way was unbearable.
But now, in Scrooge-like fashion, people are snapping out of it. By God, it’s a showrunner’s miracle!
Okay I’ll stop:-) It wasn’t horrible.

Prepare to Die (2024)
YgraineDance 1 points 23 days ago.

I watched this last night, and I must say for an Asylum offering, it wasn’t terrible. An “Asylum 25th Anniversary” title is shown at the start so I assumed…well, you know what I assumed. Instead, this turned out to be a very simply told, brisk story of vengeance, with the martial arts adding to the fun along the way. I didn’t know anyone in the movie other than Lamas and Madsen, but that can be fun too, as you get to see new faces early on in the acting business. Overall a neat little time-waster with a cast to root for.

‘Skullduggery’! Good word right there! Well said by you! And truth was indeed spoken…

A win in my book. Lots of story still to tell, so like others here, I hope they continue. Great sets, effects, costumes, and skullduggery - unbeatable combination:-)

Black Cadillac (2003)
YgraineDance 2 points 1 month ago.

This is a fun, if a bit talky, thriller from the way back. I didn’t really know others in the movie, but Quaid chews the scenery in a great role as the probing, folksy “I’m one o’ y’all”-type cops to creepy effect. Kept my attention to the end.

Hudson & Rex (2019) S6 E10
YgraineDance 1 points 1 month ago.

What a confusing, convoluted mystery this was. This is a show I usually really enjoy, but I had to replay a few sections several times to get things straight in my head this episode. The beautiful dog interacts with the cast in a different way, also. Not bad, just different. Several “Rex” dogs share the role, I imagine.

Real Time with Bill Maher (2003) S22 E7
expresso 2 points 1 month ago.

And yet, I watch him, because it’s still the only place anyone is getting people of different political and intellectual views together in the same hour interacting with each other on the same topics. I think going from 3 to 2 panel guests has made a difference. When there were 3 he wasn’t dominating the conversation, the guests were. I’m also noticing that the opening interviews are getting more fluffy. The percentage of interviewing celebs he admires rather than politicians and thinkers has gone way up.

YgraineDance 1 points 1 month ago.

Interesting observations; thanks. I may give things there a try once again.

Maybe he got the message that longtime fans were jumping ship, and made some subtle changes. Maybe he’s seen some of the many posts people have been making these last few years LOL.

Real Time with Bill Maher (2003) S22 E7
expresso 2 points 1 month ago.

He says he hasn’t changed. He’s changed. He’s nastier. I mean, he was always a jerk, but he was also at least hypothetically open minded. Now he’s got his pet issues and he’s about hammering on those with every set of guests.

YgraineDance 2 points 1 month ago.

So true. He’s petty about it, too. Gets cross if a guest is more loudly cheered for a salient remark or joke than he himself is.

Real Time with Bill Maher (2003) S22 E7
grasshopper rex 1 points 1 month ago.

For me, it’s Cornel West. I never miss an opportunity to see Maher acquiesce to his mental superiority.

YgraineDance 3 points 1 month ago.

West soooo reminds me of an off-the-chain professor I had in college a thousand years ago. He’d go absolutely apeshit making a point - pounding on the board, yelling excitedly while scribbling cryptic chicken-scratch, even getting up on top of his desk. Ah, memories…

Real Time with Bill Maher (2003) S22 E7
YgraineDance 3 points 1 month ago.

I’m not able to tolerate Maher anymore, but I watched this episode for my man Max Brooks. He’s always a can’t-miss for me; so smart and funny. Nothing fazes him. That is so appealing.

Murdoch Mysteries (2008) S17 E20
YgraineDance 1 points 1 month ago.

What a fun episode this week! The visuals were imaginatively done, and the story had something of the feel of a quick Agatha Christie mystery, with a knockout of a solve. This series sometimes likes to blend its semi-fictional world with actual historical characters making appearances; I may google some names to see if this was the case this time. A good watch.

Thanks wildfrontier. I did mention Schrodinger’s cat early on. I think the combo of space and experiment is at the center. Just a bit miffed at all the melodrama and lack of development. Besides, a bit of self-deprecation never hurt anybody! ;-)

#Dupe# (2024)
YgraineDance 1 points 1 month ago.

This is the second entry in a fun franchise that, though it’s Lifetime, doesn’t always get bogged down in predictability. Things surprised me more than once, and I watch this goofy kind of shyte regularly LOL. The story here can stand alone BUT it works better if the first instalment has been viewed. The lead actresses have a field day with the clothes and the hair and the melodramatic scene-chewing, but it’s great for Lifetime fans, and, considering the ending, could conceivably continue for another movie or so, like Lifetime did with Eric Roberts’ “Dr. Beck” stalker series a few years ago (those were great fun, too.)

Thanks! I just finished it, and found it a very entertaining watch. I liked the characters and their teamwork. Adkins wasn’t the main character, but as you said, Grillo is no slouch and he’s got charm and skills enough to make it fun.

I loved that show; “Lights” Leary and his fights were amazing. Show should have run longer than it did, but the finale was a stunner.

Read up on “The Many Worlds” hypothesis of quantum physics. this series seems to present that. I’m sure that phrase will be said. Perhaps the pills have something to do with it. I’ve counted 4 different universes for the mom and daughter: Real Mom+ Alternative daughter, Real Mom+real daughter, real daughter+Alternate Mom, and theory predicts alternate mom + alternate daughter.

YgraineDance 3 points 1 month ago*. (Contains Spoilers)

I’ve been wondering about multiverse theory as well; and yes, the pills are curious. I’ve only seen ep. 1, and it’s clear these people have some real secrets about the mission and who knows what all else. I was also intrigued when Paul’s daughter back on earth, I think her name was Wendy, mentioned having an awful nightmare (before any of the disaster to her father had happened.) Psychically attuned…or some memory of an alternate reality? I dunno yet.

Death Machine (1995)
YgraineDance 4 points 1 month ago.

Here’s a long, loooong version of this film on the site for our enjoyment. It’s a film that is part sci-fi, part horror, part social commentary, and part wannabe-humor (in the strangest places). I see the characters are named for famous directors and others in the genre, and there are obvious influences from films like Robocop, Virus, Terminator, and more science-gone-real-wrong films. Brad Dourif brings the super-crazy, as usual. Anyone remember The Night King from GoT? That actor (Richard Brake) has a role here.
Be prepared to suspend disbelief if you plan to sit through the entire movie (did I mention how loooooooong this is??) and be impressed by the nineties’ CGI and what I assumes is some puppetry in some scenes.

Magnum P.I. (2018) S5 E20

I liked the wrap-up to this very pleasing show, and I will miss it. As others say, it began a on a bit of a prickly note, but the affable cast saved it and made the show a weekly wanna-see. I loved how the writers humanized and warmed the bristly Higgins over time, and how cop Katsumoto moved from disdain to evolving and developing a real friendship and respect for the investigators in a believable way.
This finale didn’t check in on a few other lovable semi-regulars we knew (Jin, Shammy, Cade), but I have an idea that we could see a sequel movie or two down the road, to catch us up on things. Fans might want this. jmo. Cool show; great locale.
