Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021)

I respect the desire to recreate the video game, but the unconventional cinematography and super heroine aspects are what made the original movies so popular. I am not certain a recreation of the video game would have had as much cultural impact. Two separate mediums are OK.

I love that they tried, but I wish the screenplay had been vetted more carefully. All the elements are present, but it falls short of that final hurdle that creates a masterpiece.

I am noticing a lack of willingness to Explore strange new worlds, and new civilizations, to boldly go where no trekkie has gone before. It’s easy, but you have to let it happen. It cannot be forced upon you.

Star Trek has had the elements of a “soap opera” ever since The Next Generation in the 1990’s. It’s not something new. I suppose I could choose to be disappointed by the cheesy stuff, but instead I choose to enbrace the extension of a 50 year old tradition. I understand how easily it could taken away forever by an audience that is impossible to please. In my experience with multiple series, you have to be willing to suffer some time spent on character development, to get to the good stuff.

This plot reminds me of V’Ger, from the first Star Trek Movie.

This is as good as any Series in the Star Trek Universe. I sometimes see comments that believe this is a competition between the different series, but I believe it is the continuation of a Legacy. I hope the Legacy continues far into the future. Modern technology helps create a clearer glimpse of what the future will look like, and this series certainly helps to fulfill that vision. It also provides the personal relationships that have made each series work in it’s own unique way.

The Unforgivable (2021)

Very powerful. Give it a chance.

Reminiscence (2021)
alienart7777777 3 points 2 years ago.

Slow but good. Sad but sweet ending. This movie doesn’t contribute to gun culture.

The Toll (2021)
alienart7777777 1 points 2 years ago.

Not bad, better than some twilight zone episodes.

Oxygen (2021)
alienart7777777 1 points 2 years ago.

Nice movie. Solid sci-fi, in French with english subtitles.

Stowaway (2021)
alienart7777777 2 points 2 years ago.

Great movie, and another reminder to not send any mission critical gear into space, that cannot be repaired in space.

Wrong Turn (2021)

I’m glad the dumb hilly billy cannibals are gone. They got more sequels than they deserved. SIX movies in total. The writers decided to do something different. Not perfect, but the hilly billy cannibal thing was getting old anyway. I’d rather see more Final Destination films, honestly. The ending of this movie is hilarious.

Run Hide Fight (2021)

Good movie, but nothing like an actual school shooting, which is mindlessly horrific. This follows the Die Hard formula, with an excellent actress portraying the hero of the story. Seeing a high school girl play Bruce Willis was worth 5 stars to me.

Some say that movies and media are a reflection of society, but in regards to gun violence, they may provide an echo chamber that proliferates gun violence. If society wants less gun violence in reality, perhaps it should stop financing the exploitation of gun violence in cinema.

Nobody (2021)

Don’t mess with a man’s kitty cat bracelet.

Our House (2018)
alienart7777777 1 points 2 years ago.

Good production and continuity. Putting it in the horror category is a stretch. It’s closer to a family friendly ghost story.

Censor (2021)
alienart7777777 1 points 2 years ago.

Seems like it is trying for a Tarantino type feel. Intentional B movie style.

4:44 Last Day on Earth (2012)
alienart7777777 1 points 2 years ago.

An honest portrayal of the end of the world. Just sitting around wondering why people didn’t listen to Al Gore, then 15,000 years of civilization are gone.

Come Back to Me (2014)
alienart7777777 1 points 2 years ago.

Interesting villain, with an unexpected ending.

The Beyond (2018)
alienart7777777 1 points 2 years ago.

Solid Sci-fi. Produced in the form of a documentary. Compelling and immersive. IMDB score should not be relied upon.

The Greasy Strangler (2016)
alienart7777777 1 points 2 years ago.

Proceed with caution, because you cannot unsee this.

The Echo (2009)
alienart7777777 2 points 2 years ago.

Nicely produced creepy movie. Good ambiance with a moral to the story.

Don't Blink (2014)
alienart7777777 1 points 2 years ago.

Decently produced twilight zone style movie.

247°F (2011)
alienart7777777 2 points 2 years ago.

Everything you can expect from a sauna trap movie, without any unnecessary bells and whistles. Reminds us all to keep the sauna door free of clutter, and explains why the emergency stop button is usually found on the inside of the elevator. Prepare to be waiting for help in the excessive heat.

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)
alienart7777777 3 points 2 years ago.

The excellent camera work helps to lure you in and keeps you engaged in a mediocre plot. I suppose they were experimenting with a novel approach to demonic possession, but the cinematography is the only thing that keeps it afloat. This would make more sense as a TV Series, it seems very awkward for Cinema.

2067 (2020)
alienart7777777 1 points 2 years ago.

Solid Sci-Fi

Terminus (2016)
alienart7777777 3 points 2 years ago.

Good movie that you might have missed.

Army of the Dead (2021)
alienart7777777 2 points 2 years ago.

It’s like Fast and Furious without the cars, add zombies. Maybe a pinch of I am Legend. Zack Snyder visuals are present. It kept me immersed, although the hype was larger than the delivery. Disregard the hype and expectations, and it becomes perfectly acceptable.

The Night Eats the World (2018)
alienart7777777 1 points 2 years ago.

Good movie, and in english if you were wondering.

Voyagers (2021)
alienart7777777 4 points 3 years ago.

Sending children to spend their lives in outer space like robots, with strict rules, while depriving them of their humanity. The drama was inevitable. 1 star for mission control. 5 stars for the movie.

Cold Skin (2018)
alienart7777777 5 points 3 years ago.

Interesting movie that you may have missed. It says France Spain but it’s in English.

Monsters: Dark Continent (2014)
alienart7777777 1 points 3 years ago.

The first movie was great. This one is good too, but it’s more “desert storm” than it is monsters.

Prospect (2018)
alienart7777777 3 points 3 years ago.

Lacking the perks of a multi million dollar budget, this still delivers a decent sci-fi presentation. I think the camera work is engaging, which adds to the bare bones environment of the movie. The future won’t always be high tech ,vivid color and action, sometimes it will be people with old tech doing mundane things.

The Caller (2013)
alienart7777777 2 points 3 years ago.

Nice twilight zone type story.

Radius (2017)
alienart7777777 2 points 3 years ago.

Nice twilight zone kind of story. Could have been an origin movie.

Chaos Walking (2021)

Rustic sci-fi, similar to Firefly. Might trigger misogynists or chauvinists.

Womb (2011)

An unconventionally powerful love story.
