this was not a great movie but i also don’t see how people can call it slow. we are watching a person in the middle of their mental breakdown. the opposite of boring. i appreciated the visual cues of her unraveling, particularly the scene where we learn more about her prior history, i thought that was beautifully done. amy adams did a fine job in this. i also appreciated how the climax played out and especially liked the touch of her at the end lying there with her hand extended. put me in mind of the 10 of swords tarot card and if you are familiar with the tarot and watch that scene you will know what i’m talking about. it was a nice touch and allowed the very end to make sense imo. i would say a solid 3/5.

just watched the first episode. not great. the episode was called 55% so clearly there was a theme. will try the next episode to see how her comedy expands. the american dollz skit was funny not because of it’s intent but because of the comedic actors themselves. fran’s interview was a waste but she was a damn good sport. skipped through the karen interview and other skits. the best part was ziwe’s genuine surprise that gloria didn’t feel empowered by the wap lyrics.
i’m into it. will watch the second episode.
just realized Yvette Lee Bowser executive produced this. a big YES to all my Living Single fans. Also..Erika Alexander is in the first eppy
30:55 to 31:48 whenever i want to bask in the glow of brilliance. the refined arrogance of the irresponsible, selfish upper class is terribly entertaining to watch and is certainly a unique skillset
i loved it. i didn’t mind spending two hours with these characters. they were strange. it was interesting. so much casual arrogance. i wasn’t left wanting more, in fact i was ready for it’s ending before the last 15 mins but there is something about this script that affected me for the better. and i’m happy i watched it. the characters didn’t make me happy, though they were arresting in their own right. but i’m happy all the same.
not a great storyline but bob is excellent and the action does not disappoint. perfect for when you need a movie, don’t know what else to watch, know you want something enjoyable but also don’t want to think much. i was skeptical at first but it got better as it went on and had me interested until the very end.
You should check out Mother, it’s his best film in my opinion https://www.primewire.li/movie/253228-watch-mother
If people are not aware Brooks is the brother of Super Dave Osborne. Super Dave’s real name was Bob Einstein and he had a great comedy career. If I am not mistaken that would mean Brooks’ real name is Albert Einstein.
YES I wiki’d him right after and saw this. I love curb so this was a pleasant cross over i was not expecting. Albert Einstein indeed. he was destined for comedy.. or an infeiority complex.
Albert is a great director and writer. Check out “The Muse” with him and Sharon Stone. She’s wonderful in this. I think I’ll watch it now.
If you enjoyed that then you might want to check out some of Van Dormael’s other movies. I’d highly recommend ‘Toto the Hero’, ‘The Eighth Day’ and ‘Mr. Nobody’ to you. He’s probably my favourite Belgian director.
to me the star in this is Nic Cage. I find myself coming back to this movie every so often just to hear him scream “I LOST MY HAND. I LOST MY BRIDE.” His over acting is so good, makes me chuckle every time.
classic. great example of “be careful what you wish for…” great reminder that we are already whole and fulfilled (and yes..magical) and do not require anyone else to make us so. just leads to trouble.
imo - the most likable of all the raiders. 1st hour is interesting..even touching. i loved seeing lara croft seem relatable and portrayed realistically. 2nd hour gets predictable but still entertaining.
i stumbled on this one accidently. didn’t have a clue who albert brooks was. i do now and i like him. really original storyline. had a few laughs. meryl is a doll. definite recommend.
i surprised myself with my emotions by the end. well worth a watch. excellent storyline (compelling).
it doesn’t get any better than this. a poignant reminder of the necessity of sacrifice. ego be damned, bigger picture exalted. simply beautiful. such strong characters. but are we worth the sacrifice?
sometimes i need a reminder to get my head out of my ass and start thinking outside the box. this movie is an entertaining kick in the ass (while kicking ass)
highly recommend. didn’t know what to expect and i found a treasure trove. it’s dark humour and highly entertaining. not for the easily offended.
this is an excellent show. self indulgent and necessary
