Mrs. Brown's Boys (2011) S3 Special
ckl 1 points 9 days ago.

The episodes that are listed here as Specials for Season 3 appear on IMDb as Season 4 while the episodes for Season 4 here are listed on IMDb as Season 5. I’m hoping someone will find the missing links for these Specials especially as there are a lot of them

The Great Escaper (2023)

I preferred this version of the same story over The Last Rifleman. There is a depth in this film that I found was lacking in the other.
In addition, there was something about Brosnan’s character that just didn’t sit right with me. I didn’t realize what it was until the opening scenes of this movie showing Caine standing on a beach. Brosnan’s portrayal of a man much older than himself was something you’d see in a beginner acting class.
This version is one that I will watch again while The Last Rifleman has been relegated to the “don’t recommend it” list.

I liked this episode. Seeing where they’ve come from gives depth to these characters

Darn it! Was hoping to settle in for an episode or two of season 4. Love watching the dogs get adopted

The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (2022)

This show got better and better with each episode. At first all I could focus on was the overacting. But when I got into the swing of things, looking for the spoofs and the ridiculous, I ended up laughing more than I thought was possible. Oh no, here comes the rain!

Anyone notice..??..The 3 times she visited her daughter’s grave, there were 3 different inscriptions engraved on her headstone, each time…..!!!!

I think this one is going to require more than 1 watching to pick up all the hilarious details

Blown Away (2019)

I really dislike reality TV, especially the Big Brother type shows. Face Off (2011) and Master Chef Junior are the two exceptions. This one can now be added to the list.
I first heard about this show 24 hours ago and have blown through all 10 episodes in 10 hours, even to the point of waking up in the middle of the night to watch the final three episodes.
I didn’t know much of anything about glass blowing so it was fascinating to see the techniques, to watch hot blobs of molten glass grow into something amazing.
I can’t wait for season 2 to start this month!

Call Me Kat (2021) S1 E2

This episode was so much better than the first where they seemed to be trying much too hard with too many blatant asides to the camera. At least in this episode things were a little less forced and there were fewer explanations directly to the audience. But this is no Miranda which was a show that grabbed me from the first few minutes. I’ll probably give the next episode a chance but right now I’m leaning towards that being the last episode I’ll bother watching.

that scene made up for any disappointment that the season is over. I played it a few times

Counterpart (2017)

After binging The Umbrella Academy last weekend, I knew it was going to be difficult to find a show that could catch my interest. Went through a few shows that just didn’t make the cut until landing on this one. Ended up binge-watching it as well. Always interesting, intelligent show. Felt a bit disappointed with the ending at the time but I’ve been finding myself thinking about it a fair bit since finishing it yesterday.

Tom Hanks is a great actor , with a Peter Pan lack of aging. But at 64 should he be in a part that would have been 40ish. Could they find a suitable aged actor. Write the screenplay - take the lead

The funny thing about someone being ageist is that that person will someday be old enough to have someone be ageist right back at them

Secret Scotland with Susan Calman (2019) S1 E5

Thank you so much for finding links for this episode. This was the one location that I really wanted to see as I visited Orkney in the 80s and wanted to see it all again. Oddly, I remember the entrance to Maes Howe to be much much longer, narrower and less high. I remember having to almost crawl on my hands and knees, with my heart pounding, but now I see that my claustrophobia had affected my memory.

The Dark Tower (2017)

I’ve never read the books so was able to judge the movie on its own merits and I found it entertaining. The acting was good, never dull and the fight scenes did not last so long to the point of boredom as they so often do. Of course, I’m a sucker for Idris Elba and loved him in this role.

Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made (2020)
ckl 5 points 4 years ago.

I really enjoyed this film, probably because I’m still a kid at heart. I was also one of those kids who wasn’t entirely normal growing up so felt right at home with Timmy. The bear was terrific. Watch the background scenery for stuff that made me actually laugh out loud. This one has definitely left a smile on my face

The Champions (2015)

I finally watched this after worrying I wouldn’t be able to get through it. All my worrying was for nothing. This film was nothing but heartwarming joy.
I can’t believe the sick bastard that caused all this has been glorified all over again.
My takeaway? No matter how hard the bastard tried, you can’t keep a good dog down.

ckl 2 points 4 years ago.

I agree. He does not feel one iota of remorse for what he did. How we can celebrate a person who could inflict so much pain is unbelievable. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that he starts it all up again so I hope someone is watching him closely

This is such a heartbreaking topic. After downloading it I hope I have the courage to watch it.

Thank you for making this comment. Without it I would never have known about this show. I’ve just finished watching it and it was well worth the time
