jillyr's comments

Wild Bill (2019)

all these commenters trying really hard to be british lmao. These comments told me nothing about the actual show.

jillyr 3 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I don’t think your comment qualifies as anything other than being rude. FYI I don’t have to try to be British , I am. This show is a ridiculous show that has a US Law enforcement officer coming to the UK and put into the role of Chief Constable in a Regional Police Force. That is the highest role in the region with a massive chain of command beneath them. The role centres on PR, politics and Admin; they don’t get within ten miles of an investigation, In this series he’s chasing the baddies. It’s a ludicrous premise and badly written.

A ridiculous show. I know we suspend belief in things like this but a show that has a Chief Constable doing actual police work…gimme a break. 1/10

How many other people were laughing and crying during this ??

Years and Years (2019)

This is not a family drama like anyone would expect. It has a stellar cast and has a Black Mirror feel to it. Definitely worth watching!

Love this! Thanks jillyr for commenting and drawing my attention to it to check it out. I had not heard of it before even though it’s an HBO Series, which makes what I often find a bit boring, ie period pieces, so interesting! I’ve only watched the first episode, but can tell this is going to be one of my favs.

jillyr 3 points 5 years ago.

My pleasure.

Game of Thrones (2011) S8 E5
Dante89 -1 points 5 years ago.

And again why would you read the comments if not wanting to get spoiled before watching. Hahaha

jillyr 2 points 5 years ago*.

Because these comments are protected from having spoilers in them. Some people will glance over the comments in aniticipation or to see if something is worth watching. Please stop acting like an idiot and just tick the box if you post spoilers!!!! And remeber these comments appear on the front page so people my inadvertantly see them, the spoiler ones do not appear visibly.

Another EXCELLENT offering from that talented writer Sally Wainwright; based on the real life diaries of the remarkable Anne Lister. 11/10

Warrior (2019) S1 E1
jillyr 2 points 5 years ago.

Interesting start; inspired by the writings of Bruce Lee (was this a book he wrote?) - great to see Hoon Lee in a different role (though prefer his Banshee character) . Acting seems good though the main character is a bit ‘hammy’ - keep expecting his teeth to glint as another sign that he’s the good guy 7/10

Cold Pursuit (2019)

Excellent movie. Very dark humour, not quite what I expected but throughly enjoyed it.

Sorry but no. This Night King isn’t in the books, he is a construct of the show runners. What I am talking about is that there was reason behind the white walkers actions. Things were planned and he was the white walkers leader. There was purpose yet there was nothing even hinted at as to the reason why they moved on the south. The writing in the first seasons of the show was some of the best ever, but these last two season have been some of the worst I have ever seen. They are using the he does bad things because he is bad trope. They should have had a chorus singing M.J’s Who’s bad every time he hit the screen and then I could have at least laughed at the The Arya scene like I laughed while watching the movie, “The Room”.

jillyr 1 points 5 years ago.

exactly. we’ve been ahead of the books for a few seasons now. perhaps you will find your reasons when/if the books catch up.

Ok now what is going on? Who’s behind this stitch up?? I’ve had to check all the characters to see who has a name begining with H and I’m still none the wiser. Brilliant; definitely got me flumuxed!

Game of Thrones (2011) S8 E3

I am sorry but I have never been so disappointed in this show as I am now. What was the point? Why after so many thousands of year did the Night King make this move? Was it just to kill the Three Eyed Raven and if so what for? Bitter Steel was north of the wall for years If that was all he needed he could have touched him in a vision if that was all it took to break the spell. Season seven was crap as far as story goes but I was truly hoping that they would turn this thing around but apparently not. If they were going to WOW us with this final battle at least they could have made the fighting visible but they didn’t even do that. Is this what would have happened to Firefly if it had stayed on the air. I cannot believe how heart broken I am over this fucking show.

jillyr 2 points 5 years ago.

It’s never as clear in film or shows as to the reasoning behind things. You probably read the books up to the point the show got ahead of them so you will have to be patient and read the books to maybe understand why everything happened the way it did.

Killing Eve (2018) S2 E4

Love this show myself, the chick that plays Villanelle (sp?) does such a good job, and Villanelle is such a cool psycho that you really can’t help but like her!

jillyr 2 points 5 years ago*.

It really amuses me when you hear her speak in her native accent. She comes from Liverpool and has a very thick Liverpudlian accent!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHgoBAPxzCc

This series is the most clever and intriguing MI6 based ever written. It has everything including humour but also a very dark message. This episode definitely has the shock factor! 11/10

The Professor and the Madman (2019)

Brilliant series with a sinister moodiness that reminds me of the first season of True Detective.

This is an incredibly funny and human show. I identify so much with the very flawed characters and there are some moments that make me feel like they have been watching me.
